A cool breeze lifted his two-coloured mane, touched his marked hide with cold fingers. Soulcaptive breathed in the fresh sea air as the last shreds of daylight vanished over the horizon. The scape of water before him dimmed and took on a twilit, almost eerie glow; he shifted his hooves on the soft, fine sand restlessly. The electric Peophin was reclining on the edge of the quiet beach, savouring the feel of the sea breeze through his coat and the sound of the silvery waves lapping on the shore. He stood out sharply against the light shades of sand and sky with his dark hide - so dark it was almost black. Blue-black. Jagged lightning strikes decorated Soulcaptive's body, tailfin, face and legs in intense cyan tones, markings that glowed brightly through the oncoming dusk. His eyes - and the jewel set in his faceplate - gleamed to match. It was so calm, there at the edge of the water, with the cool wind singing in his ears and waves licking at his tailfin; such a contrast to what had occurred not two months before. With a shudder, he recalled his horrific, yet infinitely wondrous transformation - dark, brooding clouds boiling over a violent sea - lashing, acidic rain, stinging his eyes and burning his throat - senses reeling as the raging water pounded his desperately swimming body - a furious, compelling force driving him further and further into the eye of the storm... He couldn't even sink below the churning water and into the cool oblivion of the deep sea, for that same force buoyed him up, pushed him onwards_ At that final moment - when his lungs burned for sweet air, or calm water, and his limbs were stiff and numb from struggling - at the culmination of the turbulent storm, he felt something white-hot, something immensely painful, lick his blue coat. With horror, he opened salt-rimed eyes to see lightning hurtling out of the dark clouds, burning him, turning his hide from blue to black... Then the largest, brightest lightning bolt hit him directly between the eyes, and everything spun and faded into blessed, syncopic darkness. With a snort, Soulcaptive pulled his mind away from the distinctly painful experience, and rose gracefully to his feet as his radiant eyes spied a familiar figure in the distance, out to sea. It was her. Instantly, all traces of that terrifying memory vanished, lost in longing for that beloved figure. He dived into the cool water and swam swiftly towards her - Nihilim, the pure white Peophin, tranquil and clever, and impossibly beautiful...
Soulcaptive gives a friendly smile as he dips his tailfin into the pool on the floor of his cave. You wonder if this place is magical in nature - light radiates from the water, causing the walls of the cave to glow, and although the cavern is underwater, fresh air fills your lungs. The Peophin across from you settles himself more comfortably on the slippery rock and gestures for you to sit. Oddly, the rock seems to shift and shape itself to your needs as you seat yourself. You soon forget this, however, when Soulcaptive begins to introduce himself properly. Name: Soulcaptive
