Strange... there's something here that pulls your attention towards it...

Come closer, my brother. Please...

You turn, frantic. The voice calls to you, drawing you closer. You can feel its power, its hunger, its longing. Longing for the suffering to end.

Don't listen to it.

A voice pulls out of the spell, as you see a book in your hand. You were about to open it. There were heavy chains surrounding it, but you could see easily it was not clamped shut. You look at up.

There's a speckled green penguin wearing a bright red robe and carrying a carved wooden cane. He smiles at you, kind and friendly. His green eyes sparkled. Looking carefully at him, you could notice an almost invisible beard, slowly curving down his body.

Strange how you stumbled upon here, my library. I rarely get visitors, he says, perhaps, that explains the mess here. That book should be locked away, far from where prying eyes should seek it.

Before you can even ask why, the penguin continues.

It's a long story, my friend. If you don't have the time, leave and never come back. If you don't like darkness, go and never return, as well, for this tale is one of shadows, of betrayal, of lies, of a desperate quest for truth, for their belief.

You look at him, seeing that he wanted you to make a choice. Taking a quick glance at your watch, you see you have plenty of time.

Will you do it?

Yes, I will listen. | No, I will leave.

A long, long, time ago, in a world so far, yet so close...

The world was at war.

War is something you can never forget, and this war was no different. Except...

This war wasn't any war. It was a rebellion. A revolution.

The tactics were different. They were smart. They were desperate.

So, in times of history, this war was considered the most strategic war ever.

But there are more things to consider.

Chapter One

Can you see the stars? whispered Kuchab to his sleeping brother, Siris. Can you feel them?

There was no response from the younger star-dragon.

I tell you, this is all for greater good, alright. We're saving the stars, Siris. We HAVE to do this! Or it'll all die! This view! The peace, the stars will vanish ONE BY ONE! But we'll do something about. I am. I'm sorry, Siris. This is why I have to do this. THIS IS MY DESTINY! he whispered, feeling tears run down his face. I'm sorry... his voice cracked, and the star-dragon turned away. Farewell, brother.

The dragon turned back, waiting for a response. His heart cracked a little, but Kuchab forced himself to leave. His grandfather would come any moment, and that would be the end of the Rebellion. I... I love you, Siris.

Without another word, Kuchab turned and ran, pulling his star cloak over his head. He never looked back.

*******

The penguin looks at you. You're wondering what this has to do with the book, aren't you?

You nod.

This is the story that was once written in the book, or at least part of it, replied the penguin. I will answer your question, but before I do, I feel I must introduce myself. I am Slush, hereby known as Slush the Wise. You can call me either. The rest you can find in here, he hands you a small packet and nods, expecting you to read it.

I bet I know what you are wondering. Why in the world would that book try to lure you?

Let me tell you:

In the ashes of the Rebellion, Kuchab led his group to victory. He destroyed the Conqueror, but with a cost that made him incomplete. He had everything he had dreamed of, the stars, the peace, being a hero... except for his brother.

Siris hated him. It struck Kuchab with something of a sad fury. He could do nothing to change his brother's feelings.

His brother left the dimension, using the Rebellion's own DimensionCraft, a spacecraft meant to jump through dimensions.

Siris made himself a new life in a new world, one he named Conque. Siris told the dwellers stories, stories about himself, only in third person. He told them about the starry world above. But that was a big mistake.

People wrote books from his stories, but the stories of the stars can never be written. The Great Star That Fell made sure when he created the world. So, Siris, being a star himself, was in the greatest trouble ever told.

It was punishable by elimination. It was the worst sort of treason there ever was in Time-Sky. Therefore, Siris's fate was left into the hands of his brother, Kuchab. But Kuchab refused the law. He sent his brother to the last truly safe haven in the worlds, Stargaze.

However, the books... the books were left to be, but they would draw the reader into Stargaze. It was Siris's last words to his brother, that echo from the book. He stared at his brother in the eye and stole some part of Kuchab. So, from that day on, Kuchab was never the same.

So, what does this connect to me? Let me tell you. I am the keeper of such books, to make sure no one gets drawn into Stargaze, and keep Stargaze away from those who would destroy it.
