» Introduction «


Hello guest, My name is Oxide and welcome to my shroom, fungus and toadstool guide! This guide was created almost two years ago to help people like myself collect and keep track of wanted gallery items! Twisted Shrooms went from a small directory simply listing every known item, to a Shroomy Guide. Twisted Shrooms now lists every known item (unreleased items included) with item descriptions, rarities, estimated prices and quick searching links, all for your convenience! I have worked very hard on this petpage and it is a constant work in progress. I hope you enjoy my site and find the information to be helpful!

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has helped me so far with this site. I would also like to thank everyone who has and is still continuing to support my crazed item obsession! If you have any questions, comments or suggestions please send me a neomail.

News and Updates:
9/18/09 Three new mushroom items have been added! One has been added to the shroom foods section, and the remaining two have been added to shrooms section! I'm almost confident that the two new faerie mushrooms are in honor of the Tooth Faerie, and the Battle Faerie but I will refrain from updating the item details until I'm positive. I promise to update prices this coming weekend!

9/18/09 The filters seem to be messed up, so don't mind my lack of updates or how messed up this page may look in different broswers. I'm not sure if the new technique will work or not. Anyway a new shroom item has been released at the NC Mall! I have placed it under the Shroom Items section.

9/6/09 Twisted Shrooms: A Shroomy Guide has been tagged! In other words this page is so awesome that it has randomly been chosen to participate in a wicked game of 'tag you're it'- petpage style. 9/5/09 All of the prices have been updated! The information for Jelly Mushroom has been updated, and the item Koi Dumplings and Mushrooms has been added to the Shroom Foods section, under the Other section.

9/4/09 Thanks to some new information the Shroom Effects section has been updated. I will also be updating the prices for each item over the next few days.

8/30/09 The Affiliates section has been updated. I will not be updating the prices for another few weeks. I start classes tomorrow and right now school is my priority. Once I get in the swing of everything, I'll start giving more of my attention to this page. Also Neowink Rewvies gave Twisted Shrooms a perfect score of 5/5 (aka 100%).

8/15/09 All of the prices have been updated! I have also updated the affiliates section, and added a whole new section called Fungus Cave. There you will be able to find information about this mysterious cave. I have also added new information about an avatar related to te Fungus Cave in the Avatars section! I will NOT be updating this page again until mid-September because I am moving (yay for college).

7/30/09 All of the prices have been updated! I have also answered two more questions in the FAQ section. Twisted Shrooms is now in TWO Site of the Month competitions. To Vote for your favorite Shroomy Guide, just click on each of the buttons below.

7/26/09 Paprika has made me a gift button! The button is pretty cool since its shaped and designed to look like a mushroom. Thanks to this newest addition, there are now six different link back buttons that you can choose from (yay)!

7/24/09 Twisted Dreams has reviewd my site and I have taken some of the advice into consideration! I have fixed a couple of grammitical errors and I am in the process of tweaking this layout slightly in hopes of making the page a bit more appealing and shorter. I Have gone through all of my affilated and cleared out the sites that have closed. At the Leaves of Carnivals Voting ends August 8th, so don't forget to vote for Twisted Shrooms asap!


7/21/09 Thanks to some helpful people on the Battledome Boards, I have updated the information regarding the effects of the item Bubbling Fungus on your pet. I'll have the prices for each item update by the weekend!

7/20/09 I will be updating prices within the next few days, I am sorry for the delay! Twisted Shrooms was tied for first place in the Site of the Month competiton on the wonderful petpage called Genericizing! Thank you to everyone who voted for my guide! We are still entered into one more Site of the Month compeitions, so don't forget to vote!


7/15/09 A new item has been added to the Shroom Foods section, the name of the item isOnion and Sliced Mushroom Soup. Twisted Shrooms is still in two Site of The Month like competitons! Don't forget to vote for your favorite Mushroom Guide!



7/13/09 All of the prices have been updated! I have also added the dates that each item was released (that I was able to find). I'm debating weather or not I should add a new section that briefly explains Jhudaor's cloud and how to optain each of the four shrooms from her quests. Finally I noiced that a few of my shrooms were out of order, apparently the letter O comes before the letter P. So that has now been fixed as well!

7/11/09 Twisted Shrooms now has a new layout! (yay). I'm working on updating all the prices as we speak. A new link back button that actually matches the new layout has been added! Finally Twisted Shrooms has been entered into two Site of the month competitions!

7/02/09 A new item which appears to have a mushroom was announced today in the news. I have added this new item to the Shroom Foods section, when more information is released I'll place it in its appropriate location. I'm currenty working on a new layout, which is why I have been neglecting to update all the item prices. Someone else has also suggested that for each item I should list it's release date. I think that would be a great thing to include, and so I will work on that as well. Over the weekend at the very least all the prices will be updated!

7/02/09 A new glowing mushroom item has been added to the Shroom section, once the name and other information is discovered it will be placed in its proper location! TNT has also created a new, glowing mushroom fullscreen background! I have added the new background to the Miscellaneous section! I have updated all the item boxes that have buttons linking to neopain shops, the fishing hole, etc. Now the boxes look more organized because the buttons have been moved over to the bottom right corner! Sometime this week, I will update each item's price again!

6/26/09 I have updated the Reviews section, a lot of review sites have been closing down. On the bright side, Twisted Shrooms was reviewed today by Vintage Reviews, and the final grade was a 97% !

6/25/09 Twisted Shrooms has received a gift button from Button Gifts! This new button is way prettier than my horrible attempts at making buttons and so I have replaced one of my two new buttons with this amazing blue and white button! You an find this new button as well as my other buttons under the Link Back section!

6/23/09 Five new mushroom related images have been added to the Miscellaneous section!

6/22/09 All prices have been updated! I have added two new link back buttons. The new buttons are not the greatest but they will do for now.

6/19/09 Twisted Shrooms was reviewed by Canvass. The final grade was a 97%! I have taken some of the advice and a new section for the link back button has been added. I have also updated the affiliates section. I will be updating each item's price within the next few days.

6/15/09 A new section called Reviews has been added! Cookie Monster Reviews gave Twisted Shrooms a final grade of 92.5%, and Extraordinaire gave Twisted Shrooms a final grade of 92%! I will be updating the FAQs again shortly, as well as checking to make sure every item's description is still completely accurate! I have also updated the links that allow you to move around the page like Extraordinaire has suggested!

6/12/09 The Miscellaneous section, the FAQs section and the Affiliates section have all been updated! Twisted Shrooms is currently waiting to be reviewed by 14 different review sites and I have also fixed few grammatical and spelling errors. Immortal Tree Reviews gave Twisted Shrooms a rating of 97% and I have changed a sentence within the Miscellaneous section, under Key Quest to what Immortal Tree Reviews has suggested!

6/07/09 New affiliates have been added. The FAQs section has been updated!

6/05/09 TS is back up and running! We now have a new home, its located on Skizota's petpage! Also the name Twiztid Shrooms has been changed to Twisted Shrooms. All of the prices have been updated and a new section called Miscellaneous has been added! The Affiliates section has also been updated!

12/21/08 A new Baby Space Fungus has been created for the holidays, and now it has been added to the Fungus petpet section!

12/17/08 The layout has been updated. All affiliates have been updated and all prices and descriptions have also been updated!

4/10/08 All prices have been updated. Affiliates have also been updated. A Brief History section has been updated with more information. The unnamed pizza items have been removed because they may not be fully mushroom related.

3/23/08 All prices have been updated! The FAQs section has also been updated and a couple of fungi items have been removed due to lack of fungus relation. Affiliates have been updated, and the coding has been reorganized and corrected. Twisted Shrooms now works in the following browsers: FireFox, Netscape, Opera, Safari, and Internet Explorer.

» A Brief History «


A long time ago (in 2000) there used to be a shop located in the Haunted Woods called The Apothecary. This shop (which no longer exists) used to sell different types of shrooms and toadstools. Although The Apothecary was closed some time ago, the shrooms and toadstools that were once sold there still exist and are now retired. Most of these shrooms and toadstools can be found on the Trading Posts and some of the less expensive ones can be found using the Shop Wizard. Below is a picture of the old Apothecary shop keeper.


» Shroom Effects «


Some shrooms have effects like the Level Up shroom , which increased your pet's level by 1. Other shrooms just increase some hit points or other stats. And some shrooms decrease your defense points and health. Most shrooms however are just food and have no effects. There are only about nine shrooms that have been confirmed to have an effect on your pet if eaten. Mushroom Ointment is the only shroom item listed below, all the rest are Apothecary shrooms.


  • Blue Healthshroom: Heals 1 of your pet's hit-point.
  • Dried Black Mushrooms: May cure your pet of Blurred Vision.
  • Dried Mushrooms: May cure your pet of NeoPhobia.
  • Green Healthshroom: Heals 11 of your pet's hit-points.
  • Level Up Shroom: Increases your pet's level by 1.
  • Mushroom Ointment: Cures your pet of Doldrums.
  • Poisonous Mushroom: Makes your pet sick with Neopox.
  • Strength Shroom: Increases your pet's strength by 1 to 3 points.
  • Super Fast Shroom: Increases your pet's movement by 1 to 3 points.
  • Yellow Healthshroom: Heals your pet from any disease and increases your pet's hit-points by 15.

If you know of a shroom not listed above that has some kind of effect on a neopet when eaten, please neomail ASAP, with the name of the shroom, the effect it had on your neopet, and proof (screenies of your pet before and after it ate the shroom would work just fine).

» Fungus Effects «


Like some shrooms, there are also some fungus items that can have an effect on your pets when eaten.

  • Bubbling Fungus: Will either decrease your pet's strength by a maximum of 3 points, or increase your pet's strength by a maximum of 5 points.
  • Crumble Fungus: May cure your pet of Grumbles.
  • Neowart Fungus: Cures your pet of NeoWarts.

If you know of a fungus or fungus item that has some kind of effect on a neopet when eaten, please neomail ASAP, with the name of the fungus, the effect it had on your neopet, and proof (screenies of your pet before and after it ate the fungus would work just fine).

» Toadstool Effects «


There are only two toadstools that can have an effect when eaten by a neopet. Both of these toadstools are retired and originally from The Apothecary.
  • Bad Toadstool: Makes your pet unhappy, and decreases it's hit-points.
  • Green Toadstool: Heals 3 of your pet's hit-points.

If you know of a toadstool or toadstool item that has some kind of effect on a neopet when eaten, please neomail ASAP, with the name of the toadstool, the effect it had on your neopet, and proof (screenies of your pet before and after it ate the toadstool would work just fine).

» Diseases «


During a battle if your neopet is hit by the item Coral Cutlass your pet will have a fifty percent chance of developing the disease: Fuzzy Fungus - In the most severe cases your Neopets fur can turn purple as it begins to turn into a Fungus Ball. If your pet is suffering from Fuzzy Fungus the recommended treatment is to fed your pet some Honey Blossom Extract. If you cannot afford the Honey Blossom Extract you may take your sick pet to the Healing Springs once every 30 minutes until your pet is cured.

I have organized the shrooms into four different categories. To view the list of mushrooms under each category just click on the category's title.



  • Apothecary - These are the orginal mushrooms that used to be sold at the Apothecary Store. All of the mushrooms in this category are retired and can only be found in user shops, in the auctions and on the trading post.

  • Faerie - These are mushrooms that were inspired and designed to honor the different faeries of Neopia! Each of these mushrooms are sold in the Faerie Foods Store, but they can also be found in the auctions, on the trading post, and if you're lucky they can also be found in user shops.

  • Quest - These are mushrooms that can only be obtained by completing certian levels in Jhudora's Cloud. These mushrooms can be found in the auctions and on the trading posts. The less expensive ones can be found in user shops.

  • Other - These are mushrooms that did not fit into one of the categories above. Some of the mushrooms can be found in a Neopian Shop. Most of the mushrooms can be found in user shops, in the auctions or on the trading post.

  • Omelettes - These Omelettes can only be obtained through the Giant Omelette. The description of these Omelettes are unknown becaue they are extremely hard to find. It may be possile to find them in usershops, in the auctions or on the trading post.

» Fungus Cave «


Fungus cave is located in Krawk Island. Once you enter the cave a tiny description appears, "You have entered a dark dank cave with lots of fungus all over. It is cold and you start to shiver. There does not appear to be anything of interest in this cave...".

Aside from an unknown fungus growing all over the place, this cave serves a greater purpose - transforming the Krawk petpet into a full grown Krawk! If you have three pets or less and you have a non-zapped, Krawk petpet with an original, untaken pet name, all you have to do is attach that petpet to your active pet. Once the Krawk petpet is attached, you simply visit the Fungus Cave and have the little petpet eat some of the fungus found in the cave. The krawk petpet will then be transformed into a fully grown, restricted Krawk.

This avatar is obtainted by visiting the Fungus Cave when you have a Krawk as your active pet.
Groovy Chomby
 This avatar can only be obtained through attending a Chomby and the Fungus Balls' concert. Chomby and the Fungus Balls play on the 8th, 15th and 29th of each month. On the day of the concert you may buy a ticket at the Ticket Booth. You can also buy Chomby and the Fungus Balls concert tickets in advance using the Shop Wizard. Once you buy the ticket you may visit the Concert Hall. If you visit the concert hall on one of the dates mentioned above and choose to watch the concert, at the end of the concert you will recieve a spiffy avatar and ONE awesome Chomby and the Fungus Balls item as a take home gift!

Help the Chomby dodge the evil fungus balls and find his way to the end of each level. If the game stops at the start of level 6, just press the Space Bar to get it going again.

This game was retired in Y6 and can be found in the Game Graveyard. Although you will not receive nps for playing this retired game, you can still play for fun! Guide

----Key Quest----
In the game Key Quest there are little blue spotted things that almost look like muffins. They also resemble a mushroom, fungus, or maybe even a toadstool. Besides , why would a muffin be out in the middle of the yard, or by the woods? Those blue spotted things must be some kind of mushroom! They can be found on the Neopia Central board, the Haunted Woods board and the Terror Mountain board in the Key Quest game. I took this screenshot while playing on the Haunted Woods board.

Below are two screenshots of two different games. The screenshot on the left is from the Key Quest mini game called Petpet Pamper. As you can see from the screenshot there are little mushrooms lurking in the bottom right side of the screen next to the fence. The screenshot on the right is of the game Smug Bug Smite. While playing this game, if you make it to the second level you will come across a new scene which has three mushrooms in the center of the bottom of the screen.

Q: Why did you make this guide?
A: I orginally made this guide to help myself keep track of all the mushroom items in Neopia. I used to have a gallery dedicated to mushrooms and this petpage started off as my wishlist. I looked through many search engines and was not able to find any guides listing an updated list of Neopian mushrooms, so I made my own guide! Now I keep the guide up and running to help other people with similar collecting intrests.


Q: Where did you get this layout from?
A: I did not get this layout from anywhere. I made this layout using Paint Shop Pro and notepad. That mushroom with the purple top that you see all over my page, specifically in the background, I found it within one of Neopet's full screen backgrounds. I used the full screen background called gotta glow. The full screen background I used is listed in this guide under the Miscellaneous section.


Q: How do you find the prices of all the items?
A: I used the Shop Wizard to search for each item. I refresh 3 times and record the lowest and highest np amount. If an item can't be found in the Shop Wizard, I search the Trading Post. If the price of the item still cannot be found I simply put N/A.


Q: What does N/A mean?
A: N/A stands for Not Available.


Q: In the price sections, what does K mean?
A: In the prices K stands for 1000, so 3k = 3000.


Q: Why are all the Seasonal CATFB items added to this page if they do not relate to mushrooms or fungus?
A: The CATFB items have been added to this page beacuse CATFB stands for Chomby And The Fungus Balls.


Q: For the Radioactive Toxic Shroom the price says 150NC, what does NC stand for?
A: NC stands for NeoCash. NeoCash items can only be bought at the NC Mall. For more information about the NC mall click here. Although this item is only avaible through the NC Mall, and cannot be sold, traded or donated, it is still a shroom and therefore it is listed in this guide!
*UPDATE: The Radioactive Toxic Shroom is no longer being sold in the NC Mall.


Q: How often do you update each item's price?
A: I usually try to update each item's price twice a month, though sometimes I update more frequently.


Q: Why did you change the name from Twiztid Shrooms to Twisted Shrooms and why are you no longer hosting this site on TwiztidShroom (the pet)'s petpage?
A: In December of 2008, I decided to take a break from neopets and I took this shroomy guide down. I transfered TwiztidShrooms (the pet) from this account to one of my side accounts which I self froze. After a well needed break, I have decided to return and bring back my shroomy guide! Twisted is now spelled correctly and is no longer a copy right infringment (there is a band named Twiztid). TwiztidShrooms (the pet) is happy on his permant vacation in iceland, I have no intention of unfreezing the account he is located on. Twisted Shrooms: A Shroomy Guide will remain on Skizot's petpage.


Q: Why don't you have the scrollbar hidden on the main content box? If you did that it would look like a more professional website.
A: When the main content box has the properties set to hide the scrollbar, the internal div linking does not work in the Opera browser. I want this page to be compatable in as many web browsers as possible. So for the time being I hope you don't mind the not so professional look.


Q: Who wrote each item's description?
A: TnT did. When you have an item in your inventory, and you click on that item, a window will pop up. That new window has all kinds of information about the item, including its descripion.
