Sitiu - MMEs

What in Neopia are Mysterious Morphing Experiments?
On July 21st 2009, a brand new type of item appeared in the NC Mall. The MME1-S1: Tiny Striped Wonderworm is the first Mysterious Morphing Experiment item to be sold in the mall.
Mysterious Morphing Experiments (MMEs) will morph into various different stages, before morphing into the final stage. You can tell if an item is a Mysterious Morphing Experiments in two ways.... the item name will begin with MME, and the image itself will have a question mark in the bottom right hand corner (until the final morph at least).
TWO individual identical MMEs? (Item ID number checking)
There are two different item ID numbers for the MME3-S1: Raging Jack-o-Lantern Helmet . One ends with 60, the other with 61. The different ID numbered MMEs will take different morphing paths, although they both should have an equal chance of giving an LE item! This explains why some MME2s are appearing as two individual items, rather than one image x2.
There are three main ways of checking the ID code of your MME:
NC Mall Album methodWorks in all browsersGo to your NC album, right click, and select view source. Hit CTRL & F and type in "MME3" to scroll down to the right place. To the left of the highlighted text (Flock or Firefox), or a line or two above it (Google Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer), you'll see something like this: ItemInfo(46260) The bit I put underlined is the number of interest - the 60 or 61. :) |
Safety Deposit Box methodWorks in all browsersThis is useful if you have more than one MME, and want to know exactly which MME goes with the ID number. Put the MME into your SDB, then search for it, and hover over the remove one link. In the status bar at the bottom of the browser screen, it will say something like this: (0, 46260, 'worm' '0 Again, the bit I put underlined is the number of interest - the 60 or 61. |
Mall Shopping Basket methodWorks in Chrome, Flock and Firefox. Unfortunately, this method does not work in Safari, Opera or Internet ExplorerAdd the MME into your shopping basket, then highlight the name and the image. Right click and select view selection source (in Chrome, you need to click inspect element). A window will appear with the source code highlighted, and you should see something like this: img id="46260 Once again, the bit I put underlined is the number of interest - the 60 or 61. |
Also, in the NC Mall itself, if you search for "MME3", and refreshed the search eventually all the MME3s would display.
So how do they work?
MMEs will morph into a number of different stages, before their final morph. When the last morph takes place, you will get all the previous stages in your inventory as individual NC items. These items will not morph again, but can be used on your pets, or in your gallery etc. The number of invididual items will vary, but will be guaranteed to be at least three items :)
All experiments of the same type will always morph from one state to the next at the same time, although it could be days, or weeks before the MMEs morph into the next stage. However, MMEs of the same type will not necessarily end up as the same item in the end. It's possible on the second morph, that two identical experiments could change into completely different items. In the very final morph, you could even get a limited edition bonus item!
You don't need to put the MME onto your pet in order to for it to morph - MMEs that are in your SDB, Gallery, Inventory, or in your closet (but not being worn by a pet) will still morph, although if your pet wears it, you will see the full animation :)
If you send a MME to someone (even once it has started morphing) at any point before its final morph, the recipient will still receive all the stages at the final morph.
The Mysterious Morphing Experiments themselves
Below, are all the MMEs released into the NC Mall so far, complete with each different morphing stage. This will be updated as soon as Paddy knows of the next stage, however as some stages may vary, if you have a MME that has morphed into a stage that is not shown here, please send a NM to dragonsflame_uk so she can add it to the page!
To make this easier to follow, each ID for the MMEs is set in its own row (the ID numbers are to the left of the row).

MME1-B1: Sputtering Grey Mini-Monster Appeared in NC Mall Albums Aug 20th '09, appeared in inventories late in the day on the 21st LE Bonus item
Thanks to Corine and the SN guild for the image *smiles* As with all LE items, it was not guaranteed that you would get the Sputtering Grey Mini-Monster. However, it was possible to get the LE item from either an 06 or an 07 worm (thanks Corine & Nina for confirming that), so it wasn't just limited to one of the IDs | ||||
But my MME didn't morph!
The petlookup images changed early in the morning (NST) when the MMEs morphed, but the userlookup and active pet images sometimes need a helping hand to update. You can do this by adding in an item to your pet's customisation, save it, then remove the item and save again. It might not update straight away, but that should get it to update within an hour or so :)
Hitting F5 / CTRL & F5 doesn't work to get the image to update (tested with the final stage of the MME2)
I didn't get all the stages
Be patient! *laughs* After the final morph (when there is no longer a ? on the bottom right corner of the image), you will get all the stages as items, but this may take up to a few hours for the items to appear in your inventory. If you have waited longer than a day and still haven't received them, you can report it through this form.
The MME2s seemed to be handed out in ID number order (so all the 57s were handed out, followed by all the 58s etc).
