A gentle breeze carries a faint scent of strawberries across an endless field. Trees dot the otherwise endless plains, and their green leaves sway in the air. The sun warms the earth from its celestial position, allowing the plants to grow. Speaking of plants, it seems that there's a rather large strawberry in a garden to the left.

Well, it turns out the giant strawberry just so happens to be a Strawberry Jetsam. Eh, he seems friendly enough...

Hello there! he says after some contemplation. I'm Simplify, and it seems you've somehow stumbled across my garden. He smiles. Would you like me to show you around?

Simplify was created back on April 10, 2007. I was searching up names for future Neopets, and the word "simplify" came to mind. His name means "to make things simpler", and as I have always adored simplicity, I was thrilled to see "simplify" was not yet a Neopet. Without much thought, I created Simplify as a Yellow Meerca. I had already planned to create a Strawberry Jetsam, and Simplify fit the bill.

Huh? What? You're expecting some grand story about me? Well, it's too bad I don't have some elaborate story full of adventures and heroics and stuff...

See, I'm just like every other Neopet out there. Every Neopet without an interesting and unique past. Like most Neopets, my owner created me at the Create-A-Pet machine-thingamabobber. But before Neopets was all customised. Man, the link was pretty obvious:

Anyway, that was back in April of 2007. The 10th to be exact!

But, wait! Jetsams couldn't be created in April; Jetsam Day was officially the 16th of October! Yeah, so my owner Easels decided that she wanted me to be a Jetsam, but couldn't create one that day. So she created me as a Yellow Meerca. That's right, a Meerca!

Almost two weeks after I was born, Neopets went through a change. A big change. Yeah, we called it Customization. I went from being a cute little Yellow Meerca to... A cute little Yellow Meerca. With new art. That was big.



Oooooh, new art.


Personally, Easels thought I looked better with the new art. I really could care less though. See, I was still a Yellow Meerca, not a Jetsam.

Then, on June 21st, Easels turned me into a Mutant Jetsam! Her friend, Leo, helped her get the Transmogrification Potion, and she was so excited to morph me! I was excited too.

So I drank the potion. It wasn't really as foul as I thought it would be, but that was probably because I knew I'd turn into the Jetsam I always wanted to be. Wait, I didn't want to be Mutant... But hey, I was a Jetsam, wasn't I?

Of course, by then, Customization had become the Neopian way of life. It disappointed Easels when she found out that some Mutant Jetsams in Neopia looked like the old, "unconverted" versions... You know, the old image that looked like this?



This is the unconverted Mutant Jetsam. Certainly much more handsome that the one above, no?


But it was too late for that now. After all, I was a converted Mutant Jetsam. And Easels wouldn't dare giving me away to another home, so she decided that I would be painted Strawberry! The decision came out of the blue, practically, and she later explained that the idea came to her while she was eating... Strawberries!

So, she began saving up for the Strawberry Fields Forever Paint Brush. Who knew the Paint Brush was named after that one song... By that one band... On Earth... Not Neopia...

After several months of saving up, Easels soon had enough to paint me Strawberry. On September 13th, 2007, she took me to the Rainbow Pool. I was breathless as I went towards the pool; after all, every pet's dream is to one day be painted. Easels then handed me the Paint Brush and said to take a swim in the clear, colorful water. I followed her instructions, and after a short swim in the Pool, I was Strawberry!



Wow! I'm edible!


I was pleased with my new color and look, and couldn't wait to show my Plushie Warf and Veespa. So we hurried on home. Once there, my Warf thought I was a walking piece of fruit and decided to take a huge chunk off my arm. Ouch. But to my surprise, and Reduce's, the space where the chunk once was had regrown. Easels called it "regeneration" or something like that...

After my Warf and Veespa were accustomed to my new look, Easels said it was time to get a design. A design? A custom look no other pet in Neopia has, she explained. A custom look? One that no one else in Neopia could share.

So she doodled up several designs, but decided that one was just right. And that was:



Hey, wait a second... That's my custom adoptable of myself!


And that's about the end of my story. See? No heroics, action, or adventure. Just the plain truth. :D
