A Time & a Place

During the renaissance era, in the year of 1492, Christopher Columbus founded The New World. When he came ashore he brought with him the beliefs and traditions of the Old World.

In 1620, the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth. The they began to settle and build new lives for themselves, but they still held the beliefs that came with them from England.
(The beliefs I'm talking about are the beliefs that evil is bad, good is the only way to be. If you are different in your beliefs then you are bad, and therefore evil. And that evil deserves to be punished.)
After the Pilgrims settle at Plymouth and had build themselves a few other towns, they yearned to look for new territory. So they went in search of another place where they could settle and build a town.
In 1626 a man named Roger Conant, and a few colonists from Cape Ann, found a very nice place that they thought was ideal for a new town. There they established what is now the town of Salem, Massachusetts.

In the year of 1692 a West Indian woman, who was a servant of a local minister, told some voodoo stories to some of children in the town. The children where so terrified by the stories that, at night they would have frightening dreams. They would scream and yell in their sleep. The parents, fearing for their children's' well-being, called a physician who said that the children were bewitched. The parents had the servant woman killed along with two others who were accused of witchcraft.
That is were the Salem Witchcraft trials started. They didn't end until about a year later, but not before 20 people were killed, hanged on top of Gallows Hill. And 150 more were put in jail.

A man named Samuel Sewall was one of the judges in the trails. He, along with a man named Jonathan Corwin, who was also a judge, tried the accused people in a place called the Witch House (Jonathan Corwin's home).

After five years, Samuel Sewall publicly admitted that he had been wrong, but it was already to late. The wheels had been set in motion and the events were already beginning to take place.
While the trials had taking place, other creatures, the creatures that the witches had been accused of associating with, were watching and waiting.
You see, most of the people that were accused of being witches were actually innocent. Very few were actually witches and who talked with the others. The others being the vampires, demons, and ghosts.
A few of the real witches escaped and went to live with the others.

After so many years, the witches and other creatures found the perfect moment to strike the town and to get revenge for what they had done to them.
The people that were now living there had forgotten about the trials and what they had done. They didn't believe that there were any witches, vampires, demons, or ghosts.
It was the perfect time to strike, and strike they did. The whole town was overcome by the number of creatures that had come to fight. They didn't last very long. They weren't prepared, and so everyone in the town was killed.

Now, the year is 2035 and Salem is a ghost town.
A few people were interested in the town and trying to restore it to its former glory. The came and started rebuilding the town, but there were a few problems.
The creatures who lived in the town were very unhappy. They stayed in the town and the surrounding area to escape the hazards of the outside world.
The rest of the world, besides a few other places like Salem, had succumb to the ways of modern living. They didn't believe in magic or fantasy creatures anymore. They only thing now was science and new technology.

The people who are trying to restore Salem, think that they can make the place into a museum like place, to keep the history alive. They don't know about the creatures that live there and call the place home.

They tried their best to restore the place, but strange things began to happen. A few people died of strange accidents, others saw frightening things that scared them into leaving, until only a few people remained. They tried there best, but there just wasn't enough people to continue with the restoration. So, the people that remained decided to live in the town as is while trying to rebuild it bit by bit.

Ranks & Races

(From lowest to highest.)

1. Human- These are your normal everyday humans. (Default rank.)
2. Ghost- They are regular ghosts that can move through walls. They can move objects and be visible or invisible to humans.
3. Witch- They are humans with supernatural powers. (You can only have three powers.)
4. Demon- They are supernatural beings. They can take a human form. (You may have only one power.)
5. Vampire- They are a regular vampire. They can withstand sunlight, but the longer they stay in it, the weaker they become. (You can have one ability.)

Your rank will be decided by what species your main character is.
Example: If your main character is a vampire your rank will be a vampire, even though you have another character that is a human or witch.

Location, Location, Location

The town is set up where the main building, the mansion, is at the end of the main street. The front part of the house has a few trees and the forest is in the back.
The shops are in the center of town located on the main street.
On the other end of the street, opposite the mansion, is the two-story hotel. Behind the hotel lies the harbor.
The houses are scattered about the town.
To the left of the town is Gallows Hill, and to the right is the Witch House.

• The Mansion- The mansion is a large, white three-story house with big stone columns in the front and smaller ones in the back.
• The Forest-The forest is made up of a lot of different kinds of trees, from pine to oak. The tall lush trees usually keep the sun out, but during the Fall and Winter more sunlight comes in through the gaps where the trees are loosing/have lost their leaves.
• The Shops- The shops are many and you can find pretty much anything you want, if you know where to look that is.
• The Houses- The houses are small and can only accommodate about to or three people. They usually have one or two bedrooms. If your really lucky you can find one with three bedrooms, but they are very rare.
• Gallows Hill- The hill is steep, but levels out at the top. There you will find many large dead trees, from where they use to hang the accused witches. Some nooses still hang from a few of the trees.
• The Hotel- The hotel is the only building that has two-stories. The rest of the building in the town are only one-level, except for the mansion which has three-stories.
  The rooms are small and contain one twin bed, a desk, and a chair. They have one window and one closet.
• The Witch House- The Witch House is a regular home. It is one of the very few large homes. Here is where the accused witches were tried.
• The Harbor- The harbor has a large dock accompanied by a few smaller docks. The large dock is for large transport ships. The smaller ones are for small boats that may be owned by the locals.
