INTRODUCTION

It is a sunny day out on the beach and you enjoy the rays of the sun as you walk along. Then the peacefulness is shattered as he look on up ahead. There is a big hole and big pile of sand next to it. It appears someone has been digging. More sand flies out of the hole, it appears someone is still digging. You walk over and you see a blue and white bori at the bottom furiously digging.
You call out a greeting and the bori stops what he is doing. He turns to look at you blankly. He looks you over before saying: You're not a pirate are you?
You give him a negative answer: No I am not...
Good answer, he replies.
What are you digging for, you ask.
Treasure.
You realize that is why he asked about you being a pirate. Pirates steal treasure and you guess the bori is more then willing to defend his finds.
He turns back to dig and you watch him. You can't tell if your presence is making him uncomfortable or if he doesn't care.
He turns back around after a while and asks: Do you need something?
You blink at him and he asks again: You want to hear about me is that correct?
You give him a nod and he nods back.

ABOUT ME

Well, I am a ghost bori. But I wasn't always like this, I was once just a plain blue. I didn't like that one color and once I was painted I was born anew. As you can see I like to dig for treasure, doubloons are my favorites....well, I can't really say much without going into the story of my life, so might as well skip ahead after I show you what I look like.

WHAT I LOOK LIKE

NOTE: drag and drop image into the url box to see bigger image.

See this is me. Don't I look lovely painted as a ghost ,plain blue was way too bland. I am still blue, but only on my front half. My other half is white. The scales on my back are white as well. I have two rings of white on my forelegs and two rings out blue on my hind legs. I wear a captains hat, a present from Dana, and I wear keys on a rope around my neck. The keys I think fit into a treasure chest, I just haven't found it yet.

MY STORY

I born on a beach very much like this one. I am not sure where exactly it was, but on this beach there was a cave that me and my parents and littermates grew up in. I remember spending long days running up and down the shoreline, carefree as any young bori would be I suppose. I played with my littermates and had fun all the time. My parents loved us all very much.
But that all changed, one day when I was still very young, the clouds started to turn grey and the waves rolled up further along the beach than usual. I was....scared at how the world I was used to had changed so much. My parents all bustled us into the cave and out of the raging winds. I experienced my first storm. It did not end pleasantly.
Here my memory gets fuzzy. I remember the water suddenly coming into the cave and I remember cries as I was pulled out by a current. I remember fear and water in my lungs, but other than that I don't remember much.
I woke up on a beach the next morning. I had gotten up and looked around, but my surroundings were different. It wasn't home. I had been washed up somewhere that was unknown to me. I was on a tropical island with very tall palm trees, bigger than I had seen before. I searched for my family on this island until I could no more. It was days. I couldn't find them. They were gone, or I had been the one to disappear.
The sad thing is that I don't remember what any of them looked like, I must have bumped my head and lost some of the details. But I do know I had family that loved me when I was young.
Anyway, I had exhausted myself in my search and had curled up to rest. My peace was shattered by this yellow bori that was older than myself as she came scrambling through the under bush with all the grace of a trampling elephante. She stopped her racket upon seeing me and next thing I know I'm being hauled by my scruff to who knows where through the bush.I was too tired to fight her.
She managed to drag me to the small village that occupied the island and I was presented to one of those people that visited there. I must have looked a right mess since the person cooed at me and took me from the yellow bori to cuddle me gently. I must have fallen asleep because next thing I know I am inside a person's den.
I get up and walked around on wobbly, weak legs. I made my way out of the room I had been placed in and heard voices down the hall. I walk towards them hoping that who ever it was would bring me back to the island. I came to this strange room which I would later learn is called a kitchen and in it were that person and the yellow bori. A red bori was also with them.
The yellow bori sees me and bounds over to pick me up and drag me further into the room. The red one immediately fusses over me when I was put back down. I was asked questions about where I came from and if I had an owner and if I was lost. I told what I could based on my fuzzy memories. The yellow bori rose to the challenge of helping me find my family. The red bori and the person offered to help too. They told me their names as well: the yellow one was Mumbo, the red one was Yoko, and the person was Dana.
Over the next few weeks we searched all over Neopia, but with no success. They were gone. So I stayed with Mumbo, Yoko, and Dana because I really didn't have a place to go. I eventually began to think of them as my new family. I still searched though hoping to get any clues. It was during one of these searches that I came across a doubloon. I was so pretty and shiny, my treasure. I was so happy that my searching had paid off!
So began my intense search for treasure.
Later on I realized that I couldn't get to the bottom of the ocean to search and begged Dana to get me a ghost paintbrush so I could go down there. My bland blue color design had white added to it when I was painted and I felt like a new bori. My emotions also felt weaker, like I couldn't feel them. That made the color choice even better.
Now Dana still thinks I have problems with the loss of my first family. She tells me in our one-to-one talks that she is concerned for me and that my searching for treasure is me still subconsciously searching for my family. I tell you it is not true. And she thinks my decision to be painted ghost was to numb my emotions, thinking the color would do that. Also not true, so don't believe her.

I have one more shorter tale to tell which will shed some light on one of my dislikes that will be mentioned later on. I was searching one day and I found the most beautiful doubloon, mind you all the doubloons I find are beautiful, when this mean looking pirate neopet comes over and plucks it right out of my paws. That made me so mad! I flew into a rage and chased the doubloon stealing pirate all the way down the beach. I caught up and bit his butt and he dropped the doubloon and ran away. I felt quite satisfied doing that.
I have hated pirates ever since and the mere mention of one will make me fly into a rage. Dana, in another of her psycho-analysis moments, suggests that pirates have come to be a replacement for the storm that took my family, something to be mad at. Lies.

So that is my life story I guess. After all this our family has grown bigger and many members added. Some are odd too. I wonder where Dana's picks them up anyways.

MY PETPET

This is Meloxy my Delfin. Before Lani came along I had no one to go down with me into the ocean. Dana presented me with Meloxy to solve that problem. She is very affectionate and will take any chance to nuzzle me. I don't mind as long as it doesn't hinder my treasure hunting. When I am not in the water, Lani looks after her.

MY FAMILY

Dana: She is a strange person. Always coming up with strange ideas and all that. But she is an easy going person that won't bring something up again if you don't want to talk about it. And I don't because they aren't true.

Mumbo: Now this bori is always gabbering on about some adventure she had. She is full of energy and tires me out from all her excitement. She does support my treasure hunting though and helps me to find it provided she doesn't steal anything we find.

Yoko: This bori is a very motherly type I guess you could say. She bakes and cooks and punishes us when we did something bad. She doesn't like it when I track dirt and water into the house after I came home from a search. She makes me clean it up, which is fair.

Lantrin: She is fairly new to our family. She was brought home as just an baby and Dana raised her. She is nice and is a huge help in getting Yuki to not scare so often, but she keeps me up at night if we sleep in the same room. Her flames are too bright for my liking.

Yuki: I don't really know what to say about him. He avoids me now that I am a ghost. But it doesn't really matter much, I'm not home much anyway so he doesn't have to spend so much time sneaking around me.

Myzer: Hmm...He is like Mumbo expect he channels his excitement into pranks and bouncing instead of talking. He dressed as a pirate once for a prank on me, let's just say he won't do that again.

Lani: She is also a big help in the hunting for treasure department. She will dive down with me as I search. She is good company as she doesn't talk much and has some helpful advice on where to look for treasure. She would know best, she has lived in the ocean all her life after all.

Clay: Clay also helps me look for treasure on the beaches. As I look for treasure, she looks for shells to add to her collection or to give to Yuki. She also tells the greatest stories, but she knows when you want to hear them, unlike Mumbo who will talk your ear off no matter if you like it or not.
