You have now entered the domain of Shandrasky. This uni is neither a robot, though he is no longer completely natural. Through a terrible war injury he lost both rear legs, his left front leg, and his left eye. However, through some luck and incredible technology, he received another chance at this game of life.

Well, I am a male uni, as you can tell... I'm rather large; 17 hands in equine form, 6'3" in human form. I have bright blue eyes... well.. they were, only one is blue still... the other is a small red camera that's connected to my optical nerves. I can focus in on things much better with my left eye, and I can use it to scan my surroundings, among other things. I only wear the faceplate in my equine form. It doesn't really have a purpose other than to hold my left eye in place and to cover the scars that surround my eye socket and the other little scars that mar my face.
I was born on February 24th, 1962. Yes, that makes me forty-five years old. I may be older than some of you but it doesn't mean I can't keep up. T_T

The black clouds rolling over the sky seemed to foreshadow what lay ahead. The neopets in the Meridellian camp milled about restlessly, gathering weapons and ammunitions for the imminent battle. The malevolent mass of Darigan soldiers were quickly approaching. They were merciless and left no one, as he had been told, and if they failed to hold off this wave of viciousness... Well, there wouldn't be much they could do for the rest of Meridell.

A handsome, sturdy purple stallion with an elegant long blue mane hurried about the crowds of soldiers, worry marring his usually calm, even cocky outlook. Around his legs were daggers, fastened tightly to hide the black feathers beneath. He was set for war, clad in his daggers, and armour along his neck, chest, and rump.

He lined up beside his comrades, facing the coming wave of Darigan soldiers. They roared a war cry and set off running, their weapons at the ready.

But before the two opposing sides could meet in close combat, the Darigan forces gathered their bows and set fire to their arrows. The let the deadly arrows fly, letting them wreak havoc in the camp. Tents were set ablaze. Weapons and rations were destroyed. The lives of the injured and weak were in grave danger. Most of the Meridellian soldiers knew this, but they chose to keep going to slaughter the Darigan soldiers.

Cries of the helpless pierced at Shan's ears. He slowed to a lope and looked back at the fiery camp, despair in his eyes. He couldn't just let the injured soldiers perish.

He stopped suddenly and wheeled on his haunches, and galloped at full speed towards the camp.

In the camp, most of the very flammable tents were indeed in flames. He rushed about, searching for the tent where the injured were kept. He was lost in the plumes of smoke, and could not find his way.

Once he found the Infirmary, he searched for a soldier that had not already died of his injuries or smoke inhalation. The nearest one was a red lupe with a broken leg. Leaning down, he quickly ushered the poor soul onto his back, but in the process had the left side of his face scorched by searing heat. He screeched and grimaced, and rushed off into the chaos.

Shan trotted as fast as he could without tripping over someone or something as the flames licked at his purple coat.

As Shan galloped away from the camp, a sense of fulfillment was conjured up inside himself. But, alas, it was to be short. An earsplitting explosion swept across the valley, making most soldiers stumble to the ground in the shockwave. Shrapnel flew in every direction. The destruction was terrible. Splinters of wood and metal sawed through the air, and reached the escaping uni. It tore at his back legs and left front leg, breaking his bones and shredding precious muscle.

His eyes grew wide and he fell to the ground almost immediately. Pain wracked his body. It was so much that he couldn't make a sound. He merely shivered on the ground, rocking his head back and forth.

After falling into a coma-like sleep, Shandrasky awoke. Lights pierced at his eyes, which were hanging from above. He squinted at his surroundings: a dark laboratory, with various gadgets piled onto shelves. The walls seemed almost black beyond the blinding light, but in reality they were a light grey stone. Shan was placed on a shiny silver table—at least, what was left of him. He lifted his heavy head upwards and looked at his body. He couldn't see much past his nose on the right side, and concluded that he must have gotten a black eye. His once bright purple, marvelous coat had grown dull and grey. The shade of purple it was made him look very old. His gaze now went further down his body, to his legs. He nearly screamed when he saw two stumps. His legs had been amputated just above the end of the tibia. It felt as if the legs were still there, but he simply couldn't move them. He could slightly move his weakened muscles, making the stumps rock back and forth awkwardly. He then noticed that his left front leg had also been amputated. He was totally useless now. Just a shell where it's life would slowly drift away. An equine was nothing without his legs.

A tall kyrii with a bushel of long hair walked in from a door behind Shan. The confused uni stared at the neopets, looking for answers. "Where am I and why did you cut off my legs!" He cried, a fierce look coming onto his mutilated face.

The kyrii looked back at him calmly over the clipboard in his hands. "You are in a little known hospital for very special cases. We amputated your legs because we could not salvage them in the poor condition they were in. It would have taken months for your bones to heal, and even then, your muscles would have atrophied and died. You would not be able to walk, therefore you would be useless.

I am useless without my legs anyways!!" The enraged uni shouted back.

The kyrii rolled his eyes and sighed, and set his clipboard down. "We are willing, for a small sum on your part, to give you new legs," Shandrasky eyed him with confusion and irritation.

We will give you metal ones. You know of robots, correct? They are like the limbs of robotic neopets, but we build them for organic neopets. We could also give you a robotic eye and something to cover your face, if you want it for aesthetics.

Shan looked at him with utter confusion. "Are you saying you're going to make me into a robot? And what do you mean about my eye? Is it not just shut from a black eye?" He questioned vigorously.

The kyrii sighed yet again. Former soldiers they took in as patients were always unbelieving. "We're not making you into a robot. We're giving you a second chance at your life! You would die extremely slowly with only one leg." He then reached for a small mirror and placed it against his chest. "I'm warning you: you might be frightened by what you will see.

He raised the mirror and positioned it in front of Shan's face so that he could see what had been done to it.

A gaping hole looked back at him where his left eye once had been. Pink, course flesh covered most of the left side of his face. He frowned for a minute at his horrific reflection, then looked down at the silver table. "Just do it. Do it all, cover it up. I don't want to die yet.

The doctors quickly went to work on Shan. They applied a local anesthetic and pumped him full of pain killers, but nothing could stop some pain from coming through. They attached the multitudes of wires to the nerves, and then assembled the steel limbs. While they were not very aesthetically appealing, nor the facemask with a bionic eye, they were giving Shan a second chance.

He paid his small fee for his new life, and was released. He is now simply living out the rest of his life, alone. For he fears that nobody would want to befriend the monster that he has become.

Nohvi
Shan doesn't exactly know what to make of his young man. Shan first met Nohvi when he saved him from a couple of thugs in an alley, and I guess the two just had an unspoken understanding. He knows Nohvi might not be the straightest thing around, but he still has an odd connection with him.
