I went out walking
Through streets paved with gold
Lifted some stones
Saw the skin and bones
Of a city without a soul
I went out walking
Under an atomic sky
Where the ground won't turn
And the rain it burns
Like the tears when I said goodbye
Yeah I went with nothing
Nothing but the thought of you
I went wandering...
A large herd of peophins lived on the dark side of Mystery Island, feeding off the hordes of koi that lived in the dark crevices there. It was a dark, dreary place full of death. A stallion of pure white led this herd, and many peophins knew of him as the coldest, most cruel creature to ever swim the ocean. He possessed a strange article of power: a mysterious glowing green stone. All it took was a single nick into another creature, and it would die a slow and painful death. This peophin's name was Gohan, and he was neither evil nor good, for he did not fit exactly under either categories. He would venture to Mystery Island every few nights and steal any unsuspecting peophin mares right out from under their owner's noses. Then, he would force them to live in his herd and produce sons for him. Any daughters or weak sons that did not suit him were killed immediately after birth with the mysterious stone. One night, he stole a particularly young and very pretty mare from Mystery Island and dragged her into the depths beneath the reefs of Mystery Island. Her name was Reakia, and she was the shade of cloud blue with a white mane and shimmering cerelean eyes. Gohan told this mare that she was to become his new mate. Frightened, she tried to escape that night but Gohan caught her and beat her brutally. Later she would become my mother.
~
Her pregnancy was very rough on her because she was so young, and she was constanly beaten for trying to escape multiple times. When I was born, I was very small and weak. My mother pleaded with Gohan, saying that this colt would surely grow to be stronger. Gohan was disgusted with the tiny red whelp, but because it was very late he decided he would be rid of the colt in the morning and sent everyone off to bed. Reakia managed to get away in the night and hid in a cave only a few miles away. She shifted many boulders over the entrance and wearily went to the back of the cave to sleep. In the morning when Gohan realized we were gone, he sent his whole herd out looking for us.
~
My mother awoke to the sounds of banging noises outside. Fear gripped her heart and she tucked me in the deepest, darkest part of the cave and squeezed out of the back exit. She held a bundle of kelp in her teeth to fool the peophins into thinking she had me and raced off. They followed her in hot pursuit and soon caught her. Gohan ripped the bundle from her teeth and found it empty. Scowling, he smacked her with his tail and barked, "Where's the babe, you foolish girl!! Where is he??" He continued to smack her face but she would not reply. Disgusted, he turned away from her and paced back and forth. The others waited in silence, wondering what their leader would do. Gohan turned, and with a wicked smile across his maw he said in a cold voice, "Ahh, you foolish whelp. You probably left him in some cave, where he will soon die without a mother to care for him. A death worse then one by the stone." He threw up his head and let out a long, cruel laugh. Then he ordered Reakia the death curse for breaking custom. In a twisted ceremonial ritual, she was nicked on her right shoulder with the stone and thrown into the very cave where I lay.
~
I lay there in a bundle of kelp leaves, crying helplessly. My mother's lifeless body lay in front of the entrance to the cave, blotting out the light. I cried loudly, expecting my mother to wake up soon to feed me. I would have died had I been left alone, but as luck would have it I was found.

A very old peophin stallion named Zanzeran was wandering about the ocean that very day, and happened to hear all the commotion when Gohan caught up with my mother. He hid nearby in the weeds and was astonished at the gruesome display as my mother was killed and thrown into the cave. He waited for a few long moments, making sure the herd was far away. He was angry with himself for letting such a young mare get killed like that, but he knew he'd have been no match for the herd and his attempt of help would have been folly. He had heard distantly about this white one they called Gohan. A twisted, corrupted mind that thought that by populating the ocean with strong sons he could rule the seven seas and become its king. Zan shook his head slowly and cursed Gohan for his cruelty upon such fragile, innocent souls. he decided he'd seal the entrance to the cave in respect of the passing of the mare. As he turned to move a boulder, he heard a crying noise from inside. Going in to investigate, he soon found mewrapped in kelp weed. Zan was even more furious with Gohan. Not only had he murdered an innocent mare in cold blood, he'd also left her foal to starve! "My dear young infant," he cooed to me, "It is with much sorrow that I inform you that your mother has passed on. I feel pity upon you for having such a cruel, twisted beast for a father. I shall take you in and raise you proper, and perhaps one day you'll be strong enough to rise against him."
~
And so from that day, I lived with Zan. He named me Shaminsoka, a word thats Japanese for having enemies on all sides, which was true. i was dubbed Sham for short. Rarely did we ever stay in one place, for Zan was a constant wanderer. He taught me proper ettiquette, so as a young buck I was very polite and curteous to any creatures I met. I was a rare specimen, Zan always said. The other bucks laughed and made fun of me as they romped and tore about. As it turns out, I did grow up quite strong. Thinking me a sissy for being so polite all the time, the bucks would attempt to gang up on me, but I usually sent them home crying.
~
When I became older, Zan explained everything to me about my previously unknown past. I had thought of Zan as my father and for a time refused to believe that such a cruel beast such as Gohan was my real father. But Zan was very old, probably one of the oldest peos residing in the sea at the time. While I was still a teen, before he drew his last breath, he said to me: "Sham, I have always thought of you as a son. Go, find yourself a nice mare and start a good herd. You'll make a fine herd leader, even being so young as you are. My final request is that you seal the entrance to this cave so that I may rest in peace." He lay his head back and was still. I sealed the entrance to the cave just as he had wished.
~
For many days I mourned his passing. Zan had always spoke nthe truth to me and I knew that he had had faith in me, so I did as he said. I went out and started a small herd of a few peophins that had no where to go. We were a traveling herd, not staying in one place much as I had become accustomed to.
~
One day, off the coast of Maraqua, I came upon a beautiful young mare named Aplicilibia. She was accepted into the herd as lead mare and became my mate. Later we had a daughter. She was a strange filly, being completely black with galaxy markings upon her fin which had gotten her the name 'Galaxia.'
~
But of course my peaceful days of herdlife weren't going to last long. I caught wind that Gohan had found out about me and was going to kill me and my family. I figured he really wanted to get at me, so I decided that it was best to leave and go into hiding.
~
For many years I wandered aimlessly through the wildest parts of the seas. I picked up very little news, so I had no idea if my family was safe or not. Finally I decided I should go back to Maraqua and see if it was safe to return, but when I got there the whole place was in ruins. I found a marking place where the ruins of my herd had been laid to rest. I stayed for many days and mourned, not having much of a will to live. A passing peo told me of a herd called Peophins of the Night, where stranded peos had gathered from the ruins of Maraqua. Hoping that perhaps a few of my herd members had lived and gone to this herd, I travled there.
~
When I arrived, I was surprised to see my daughter Galaxia had lived! It was a joyous reunion. I was also astonished to find out that I had another daughter, a beautiful young peo named Breephin who looked exactly like her mother.
~
For much a time I wandered in and out of Peophins of the Night, never staying in a single place for too long. Gala became mated to a stallion named Enthon. I finally decided to settle down for a bit and took up a den within the herdlands. I really enjoyed speaking with Kishou, the herd leader. Not much later after I became a grandfather, and little Radesty was born to Gala and En.
~
One day Rad became exhiled, and soon after that the herd scattered. I have gone back to my usual wandering, and I shall probably wander until I cannot wander anymore...
