Detailed Personality Synopsis
Like many of the former Palace Guards, Shaemanaro has a majestic air to him. He is quiet, stoic, and intense—his liquidy amber eyes always look like they're smoldering with the passion pent up inside of him. For the most part he is reserved; a reactor rather than an actor, constantly responding to stimuli rather than initiating it. A fierce sense of loyalty makes him a valiant protector of whomever he feels close to. He would rather die than disappoint those he has attached himself to. This also means that he is quite capable when it comes to defending himself and those he's protecting physically, especially when cornered. The Palace Guards were trained from a young age to spot trouble from a distance (since they are Arabian Sight Hounds) both figuratively and literally, so if they ever found themselves in a situation where they had not already met the problem far before it ever reached the cortex, they would fight tooth and nail until the death in an attempt to protect.
But quite unlike the other Palace Guards, Shae was blessed with a benevolence and mercy that set him apart from the others. Although he was just as capable as the others (in fact, Shae was up next for Captain of the Guard), his generous heart made him different. When he was doing his duty, he felt that he was completely justified in whatever combat he engaged in. Outside of the Palace, though, and Shaemanaro became much more pacifistic, preferring to talk out problems than fight them out. A morbid fear of hurting and disappointing people made him very gentle and tender with his words. It was a very rare occasion indeed when a foul or angry word came from Shae's mouth, and it was only in the most dire of circumstances.
After the Palace Guard disbanded after the Great War, Shae was officially relieved from his duties to the kingdom and took it upon himself to wander and see everything that he had missed when he was bound to servitude. He traveled all across Africa, but could never satisfy the wanderlust that so often plagued him. Shaemanaro is a wanderer by nature, but not just because he is fearful of settling down somewhere for sake of commitment—no, he's afraid that if he settles down too early that he will miss something that is supposed to happen to him. He is a very relationship-centric person, and would give anything to have a family to take care of, but after the disappearance of Zettoh, Shae has been left disappointed, scared, and hurt to ever put himself in a serious commitment again. He feels as though he failed her because he lost her, and loved Zet so much that he simply cannot believe that there is another person in the world that he could love as much as he did her. Ergo, Shaemanaro is on a perpetual quest to find his lost lover, and searches with his entire heart dedicated to the task of finding her.

Arabian Sight Hounds
Shaemanaro belongs to a breed called
Arabian Sight Hounds. There is evidence that the breed has been around for thousands of years, and all of the information has heralded these canines as saviors, protectors, and fiercely loyal companions.
The earliest documented reference to an Arabian Sight Hound dates back to the days of King Abbas, when the kingdom of Arabia was facing difficult times with Egypt. King Abbas and the ruler of Egypt, Pharoah Akmen-Ra, quarreled over the trade routes through the Mediterranean Sea and the land routes that curved along its shores. A great many battles were fought between the two countries, with both showing scores of casualties and a general weakened demeanor to both. But neither country admitted to an open war with the other, so instead the battles continued to be spontaneous, which left both sides smoldering with suspicion and rage.
While Abbas and Akmen-Ra fought over the land between their countries, the Huns from the Volga were amassing an empire that was at that time unparalleled. Even the mighty Arabian and Egyptian empires were forced to take notice of the massive force that came barreling their way. Both Abbas and Akmen-Ra called a temporary truce while they prepared their countries for battle, although Akmen-Ra rested more comfortably knowing that Arabia lay in the Huns' direct route, while Egypt was far more distanced and would have much more time to prepare.
To the great surprise of everyone, Egypt was taken by storm far before the Arabians. Unprepared and outnumbered, the Egyptian force scrambled to do their absolute best to fight off their enemies but could not manage it alone. Although he was a proud man, Akmen-Ra could not bear to see his people suffer and die around him, and as much as he hated Abbas and the Arabians, he called upon them for help.
But to his even
greater surprise, Abbas and his troops arrived without being requested, and with them brought beautiful, pale, sleek canines that fought alongside them.
With their sharp eyes and long limbs, they were able to seek out their enemies quicker and thus attack them before their foes had time to pose a problem. These fierce creatures, alongside the Egyptians and the Arabians, helped to turn the tide against the Huns, who were chased back out of the Egyptian valley and back to the Volga.
Both Akmen-Ra was deeply humbled by the generosity shown by Abbas, but was wary that the king would then take over Egypt in its weakened state. But it is said instead that Abbas offered one of his own personal Arabian Sight Hounds to the pharoah as a sign of truce.
From that point on, the Arabian Sight Hound was a sign of peace and prosperity to both cultures, and was treated as one of the first noble creatures.
