Pack Territory

Area Descriptions

Sky Cavern: A cave in the side of the mountain. It is the home of the Cielo Pack.

Sky Grove: The area of trees surrounding the entrance to Sky Cavern.

Mountain Peak: The highest area in the territory, located at the top of the mountain.

Forest Glade: A clearing in the forested section of mountains in the far northwest corner of the territory.

Grassland: Located at the base of the mountains, the grasslands is an open grassy plain.

Stream Tunnel: The stream runs through a tunnel underneath the mountains, through part of the Sky Cavern, and then surfaces and flows down to join the river.

Sky Falls: A waterfall in the stream just after it leaves the tunnel, before joining the river.

Riverside Forest: A smaller forest on the southwest side of the river.

Stonepath: An old stone bridge over the river, connecting to an overgrown dirt trail that leads to the Abandoned Stable.

Riverside Sands: A sandy section of land on the southeast side of the river.

Abandoned Stable: Abandoned long ago, the stable and old horse hybrid, unicorn, and bicorn pasture are now used as a training facility for the pack.

Sky Cavern

Area Descriptions

Cavern Entrance: The entrance to the cave that the Cielo Pack calls home.

Main Cavern: A large chamber within the cavern that serves as the main living area.

Prey Stone: A small ledge in the Main Cavern on which prey is placed.

Nursery: One of two small chambers within the Cavern, it is here that the Cuidadores and their Perritos live.

Healing Chamber: One of two small chambers within the Cavern, it is where the Sanador and Sanador Jovenes live, store their herbs, and care for the ill and injured members of the pack.

Stream Tunnel: The stream runs through a tunnel underneath the mountains, through part of the Sky Cavern, and then surfaces and flows down to join the river.

Tunnelpath: A section of stone over the north section of the stream. The stream flows underneath it, and the wolves use it to cross the stream.

Earth Den: Just on the west side of the stream, it is an open section within the cavern where the wolves that are mixed with land creatures prefer to sleep.

Air Ledge: A ledge to the west of the stream and Earth Den, where the winged wolves prefer to sleep. Though it does have lower ledges forming a path up onto it, that path is steep. It is typically reached through flight.

Water Island: Located in the center of the stream, south of the Earth Den and Air Ledge, it is an island on which the wolves mixed with water creatures prefer to sleep. It is reached by crossing the stream, which is easiest to do by swimming, as it is chest deep on a full-grown wolf.

Please Note: The sleeping locations are suggestions, not requirements. If mates wish to share the same sleeping location, they generally choose either one of them, or an area between the two (such as at the base of the Air Ledge, or on the Earth Den side of the stream).

Prey and Threats

Prey

Ferrotter
Description: A small, slender mammal that enjoys the water. Overall it looks like a ferret, except that they have webbed paws.
Location: They are typically found near the river.

Jackalope
Description: A rabbit-looking small mammal with antlers on top of its head.
Location: They are common creatures, found everywhere except near the top of the mountain.

Pheaswan
Description: A white bird, with the size and feet of a pheasant, and swan-like plumage and head shape.
Location: They enjoy the water, and live in areas near the river.

Turkich
Description: Similar to a wild turkey in size and feathers, they have a long neck and legs, as well as a sharp beak.
Location: The grasslands and forests.

Unideer
Description: Deer-like in size and appearance, with a stockier build, single horn, and horse-like hooves.
Location: The live in the forests, though enter the grasslands and lower mountains to graze.

Antelird
Description: An antelope-like creature, with feathered wings and a feathered mane.
Location: The live in the mountains, though enter the grasslands to graze.

Fiseer
Description: An aquatic deer that has scales and very slender appearance, and a longer tail.
Location: Though they live in a distant lake, they sometimes swim up the river to sun on the riverbank or graze on the grass around it.

Threats

Kitsune
Description: A fox that gains tails as it ages, and may have as many as nine.
Location: They are mostly found in the forest and lower mountains.

Leozard
Description: Lizard-like, with the size, ears and hind legs of a leopard.
Location: They are occasionally spotted in the forests or near the river

Gryphon
Description: The front of a bird and back of a large cat, the appearance changing between individuals.
Location: Mountains, though rarely found nearby.

Seacat
Description: An aquatic creature with a cat-like head and front legs.
Location: Distant lake, rarely come to hunt in the river.

Herbs and Toxins

Healing Herbs

Blueberries
Description: Flowering shrub with indigo-colored berries. The flowers are white and bell-shaped. The leaves are bright green, paler underneath with velvety hairs.
Uses: The berries are eaten to promote good health and provide nutrients. Every wolf in the pack may eat them; however, they are also given specifically to the older, ill, and malnourished members of the pack.
Location: This plant grows best in the forest, though a few are found in the lower part of the mountain.

Chamomile
Description: A flowering plant with a branched, tall and smooth stem. The flowers have white petals surrounding a yellow center. The leaves are small, long and narrow, appearing in groups of two or three leaved groups.
Uses: A poultice made from the leaves can be applied to wounds to promote healing and reduce swelling. The leaves can also be eaten to promote sleep.
Location: It grows in the grasslands.

Comfrey
Description: It has large, hairy broad leaves, and small bell-shaped flowers of various colors, typically cream or purplish, which may be striped.
Uses: The leaf juices can be applied to the skin to treat a variety of skin conditions, including burns. The leaves can also turned into a poultice and applied externally to ease sore muscles.
Location: It is found growing near the river.

Elderberry
Description: The leaves of this shrub are arranged in opposite pairs, with five to nine leaflets each. During the summer it has large groups of tiny white flowers growing above the leaves. The fruit, arranged in clusters, are dark purple to black berries.
Uses: The berries can be eaten in small amounts to ease pain, and the leaves can be applied as a poultice to help treat and prevent infections.
Location: It is found near the edges of the grassland, near the mountain.
Warning: The berries and flowers are edible, but other parts of the plant are poisonous. The leaves should only be used in small amounts.

Feverfew
Description: A small bush with small, lobed leaves that grow on both sides of the stem. It is covered in flowers with white petals and a yellow center, similar to daisies.
Uses: The leaves can be eaten to reduce a fever.
Location: It spreads rapidly, and can be found in open, sunny areas, such as in the grasslands and near the abandoned stable.

Garlic
Description: The narrow, grass-like leaves originate near the base of the stem, which is topped by a dome-like cluster of star-shaped, pink or white flowers.
Uses: Wolves can either roll in the plant, or have it applied as a poultice, to prevent infections when they have been injured.
Location: It can grow in a large variety of areas; however, it is most commonly found in the grassland.

Ginger
Description: Ginger produces clusters of white and pink flower buds that bloom into yellow flowers. It is tall, and has leaf stems. The root is brown and knobby.
Uses: The root is crushed into water, and then allowed to sit for a while. Later, wolves can drink the water to ease nausea.
Location: Ginger grows in shaded areas, and is found in the forests.

Horsetail
Description: It has tall, hollow stem, which is then surrounded with thin, drooping branches. The leaves are actually fused to the stem, surrounding it. A cone grows at the top of the stem.
Uses: The leaves are used to wrap wounds, as well as stop bleeding. The stems and leaves can be used together to create a brace for broken bones.
Location: It is found along sections of the riverbank.

Lavender
Description: A tall, aromatic shrub with long, thin leaves. The flowers, which grow surrounded a tall stem, are pinkish-purple in color.
Uses: The flowers have a soothing scent, that can be used to help calm an anxious wolf.
Location: It prefers dry, sunny areas, with sandy or rocky soil, such as near the riverside sands.

Marigold
Description: It consists of a central stem, surrounded by long, fuzzy leaves. It has bright yellow, gold or orange flowers, consisting of a ring of petals.
Uses: The flowers are used in wound poultices to help prevent infection.
Location: Marigold grows the best in areas with rich, well-drained soil and large amounts of sun, such as the grasslands.

Poppy
Description: A small flowering plant, made up of slender stems covered in lobed branching leaves. The flower is golden to orange in color, made up of five rounded petals.
Uses: The leaves can be ingested to ease pain and aid in sleep.
Location: It grows everywhere except the higher section of the mountain.

Red Clover
Description: A small flowering plant, made up of one stem. The top of the stem has a ring of leaves, capped with a round purple flower, made up of several long tubes.
Uses: The flower should be eaten to help ease respiratory issues.
Location: It is widespread, and can be found in the forests and grasslands.

Thyme
Description: A creeping shrub with oval leaves that grow in clumps. It has cluster flowers that are either lilac, pink-purple, magenta, or rarely white.
Uses: The leaves are chewed to release the oils, and then swallowed to treat coughs.
Location: Due to the fact that is grows in rocky soil, it is only found in the mountains.

Willow
Description: It is a medium-sized to large tree, the bark is gray-brown, and deeply fissured in older trees. Small, slender leaves grow on long thin stems attached to the branches.
Uses: Willow bark is chewed to ease toothaches. It can also be crushed and eaten to help ease pain and reduce a fever.
Location: A few trees may be found on the edge of the river and stream in the riverside forest.

Toxic Plants

Foxglove
Description: The leaves are spirally arranged around the stem. The stem is also covered in purple or pink, bell-shaped flowers.
Toxicity: The leaves, flowers and seeds are poisonous if swallowed. The main symptom is nausea and a lower heart rate.
Treatment: Typically the wolf just needs to rest and wait for the poison to leave its system. If a larger amount is ingested, it can be fatal, causing the heart to stop.
Location: Though uncommon, it is occasionally found near the river .

Nightshade
Description: A flowering vine that crawls over the ground and some shrubs and tree trunks. The leaves are long, roughly arrowhead-shaped, with rounded bases. The flowers are in loose clusters, star-shaped, with five purple petals surrounding the yellow stalk. It also has a red, oval-shaped berry.
Toxicity: The entire plant is poisonous, and can cause fatigue and paralysis is ingested.
Treatment: It generally wears off on its own, and is rarely fatal.
Location: It can be found in the riverside forest.

Wolfsbane
Description: A flowering plant with dark green leaves, each having three lobes and sharp teeth, are arranged in a spiral pattern around the tall stem. The large blue, purple, white, yellow or pink flowers consist of two long petals on top, and between two to six smaller lower petals.
Toxicity: Wolves can be poisoned by ingesting the plant, or by absorbing the toxin though extended contact with the leaves. The first symptoms include severe nausea (if ingested), followed by a sensation of burning, tingling, and numbness in the mouth and face, and of burning in the abdomen. Later, the entire body will start to go numb, and a general feeling of weakness occurs. Death tends to follow within two to six hours of being poisoned.
Treatment: In most cases, the effected wolf will die. The poisoned wolf has the best chance of survival if vomiting is immediately induced after ingestion.
Location: It is found in the mountains.
