Dave is working hard to put together all sorts of useful information for others. He is putting me in charge of watching over this info and shareing it with you. It is written so that most anyone can understand but there is stuff for even the really advanced folk. There is also a Magic Doorway to the hidden places of Neopia, but be careful, some of them are dangerous!!
If you want to find out more about me, why dont you send a message to highland_sword?

If you are looking for a Battle Dome Guide I suggest checking out Garmfry's Page

Welcome to Hints, Tips & Hot Links Page!! I am frequently changing stuff on this page. It is where I keep links to other user and petpages that I think are cool or have really helpful info. Sometimes it gets out of whack while I am changing stuff, but check back often as you never know what I may have found that is really helpful or cool!

Part I Hints & Tips
Feeling Lucky??
Life's a Gamble in Neopia! Gambling means that there is something to loose when you play. So, be careful with this on e and know when it's time to stop.
You can make your fortune playing the regular games, but BIGGER prizes are waiting for those willing to take chances. I waited until I had a decent bankroll to gamble and never got carried away loosing it all. Some gambles cost on ly Neopoints while others are hazardous to your pets or even your petpets! If your pets get hurt or sick, just go to the water faerie often and she will eventually heal your pets fully! If you spend all your NP, well, time to go back to playing games and start saving again.

Cheap but Safe: Lottery Keno Buried Treasure Strength Test Bagatelle Coconut Shy Stocks*
Dice-A-Roo** Scorchy Slots** **Snow Wars I Cheat** Black Pawkeet Slots** Gormball**
Each has a cost and different rewards, but no harm other than the spent NP.
*Though this item is a bit on the advanced for some, here is a Guide on the Stock Market

**These games may win you prizes as well as NeoPoints

Scratch Cards~1 Every 6 hrs Ice Caves Desert Haunted Fairgrounds
If you want you can take your card into the Kiosk you bought it from and scratch to see if you are a winner, or try to sell these in your shop for a bit more than you paid!

Here are some Risky Gambles - May harm Pets but may pay off BIG!!
Wheels of Fortune Monotony Excitement Mediocrity Knowledge Misfortune

Free to do but still risky for cool rewards!!:
Adventures: *The Snowager The Deserted Tomb Wake Turmaculus* *Symol Hole
*The Snowager sleeps on ly 3 times each day for on e hour, during which you can sneak in and -try- to swipe something from his treasure horde! Times to try: 6:00-7:00 am, 2:00-3:00 pm and 10:00 - 11:00PM NST.
**These require a petpet to do.
I have seen lots of people win cool things by waking the Turmaculous, but on ce saw someones petpet get eaten! Here is a Link to help know when to try and wake him.

Part II - Set Up Shop

We will keep this very simple for now. You can enlarge your shop anytime but for now just Set your Shop up. Begin by selling whatever extra items you dont need. These are usually just cheap stuff you win at Tombola or get fishing, but you got to start somewhere! Next find stuff you can make money at. But before you go buying, LEARN TO USE THE SHOP WIZARD! This will be the difference between paying 10 NP for a plushie and 10,000 NP! Seriously, if you search enough deals abound. Some shops price things way to high and on occaision people sell stuff for very low prices not realizing their value. There are over 100 million accounts on Neopets.com and each of those may have a shop so the odds of finding deals are better than you may imagine!
Each time you tell the wizard to search, even on the same item, he will return to you just the lowest prices from on e of many groups of shops. When you price things in your shop, find your group for that item and put your price within the top 3 or 4 on that list. This will endure you get noticed quickly and sell faster, but never sell at a loss. At first I settled for 25% over purchase price but now I on ly buy stuff that gives me a 100% return on my money.
Repeat this process often and when you spot something priced too low in other shops BUY IT and re-sell for a profit.
Advanced Shop Operations
Ever wonder how all the thousands of User Shops get their stuff to sell? Outside the basice of "Find it - Win it - Buy it" we take a closer look at the two types of Shops: User Shops Neopia Stores - Owned and run by Neopia characters, these stores are automatically stocked about 8 times an hour at random intervals. Think of these places as the Wholesale Suppliers of Neopia. The places Shop owners like you and I must go to get bulk merchandise to resell. In truth, anyone can go here, but the agressive shop owners turn shopping into a keen business skill.

Which brings us to the term
Restock
This means "Buying stuff to put in your shop and sell". Some use it on the discussion boards to mean they are watching the Neopian Stores (not the user shops) and waiting for them to stock to snatch it up and resell in their user shops.
Here are a couple excellent links for Shop Restocking Help:
Restockpedia Has leads to Shop info & stocking habits
Fallen_Eden hasMore restocking tips

Other stuff you can buy and resell: Buy concert tickets
I am going to repeat something from above here.
Scratch Cards~1 Every 6 hrs Ice Caves Desert Haunted Fairgrounds
Most of these dont make a great profit, but if you get the rare on es they can sell for upwards of 15,000 Neopoints!

Beyond that, what you choose to sell in your shop is up to you. Just NEVER pay too high a price and NEVER sell at a loss!!

Faerie Dealings!

Faerie Central

Good or bad, the Faeries live in that wonderful fluffy Cloud City place in the sky. They delight in toying with Neopets by sending them on quests and you cant help but run into them. Especially when you are trying to use the Shop Wizard. {We touched on that fellow in Section above on shops}.
To learn about Faerie Quests lest start by looking at a place called the Faerieland Employment Agency.
They may be called "Jobs's" but what they really are is fast moving quests. They are random, time limited assignments where you must go find & buy on e or more (usually not more than 6) items from stores around Neopia. You can go here ever 10 minutes on the dot {up to 6 times a day} and -try- to nab a job. I say "-nab-" because this is very popular activity and the 60 to 100 jobs disappear at blinding speed! It will honestly take some practice at catching on e before it gets away.
Each job sends you on a time limited hunt to buy, from your own NP's, on e to six items from somewhere in Neopia, hoping to make a profit from what they pay you for suceeding. Now, if you took the advice in step #4 and learned to use the Shop Wiz, this will be easier. At least most of the time. On occaision you may get a job where the pay off is less than the reward. If this happens to you, don't buy the items and loose money, just go back and cancel the job at no penalty. As you get better you will start to recognize the better deals and make more profit. It will also help you in your shop stock efforts!

Random Faerie Quest
These occur as random events, usually smack in the middle of searching for something using the Shop Wiz. Suddenly this Faerie appears, tells you she wants you to go find her something then blocks you from using the Shop Wiz and tell you "No Cheating!!". Imagine how this can mess you up while rushing to fill on e of their timed jobs!? Good news is, there is a help board dedicated to this and there is allways someone there willing to help you find the item needed & if you fill this quest it usually pays off considerably by increasing your pet stats in some way, whic is normally much cheaper than the cost of codestones and dubloons needed for the training Schools.
On a rare occaision you might see the Faerie Queen ask you for a quest. More rare is the Space Faerie, Rainbow Fountain Faerie and For help with a Faerie Quest, go to the Quest Help Boardhelp board and find a posting that offers something like "Free Help with Faerie Quests!". Go in and politely tell the person helping what you are looking for. Best way to do this is to copy the text and paste it into the board posting so there are no misspellings. They will then go search the shop wiz and return and paste the name of a few shops that have it and prices. Example: Looking for "Kau Comics
tapokia Kau Comics 1 4,399 NP
gold_spherical_apple Kau Comics 1 4,695 NP
tymecard00 Kau Comics 1 4,695 NP

=^neopian^ ^item^ ^qty^ Price

You can then do a lookup on that persons shop by copying their name into the search box at the left of your regular Neopets screen in the menue bar.
When you find the item the Faerie asks for you must go to the Faerie Quests place & give it to her. She will then bless on e of your NeoPets (not necesarily the active on e).
For additional help try these:
Faerie Quest Guide 1 and Quest Guide 2.

Timed Quests
Next, there are three faeries that you can go directly to and accept a quest from. Two of whom, Illusen & Jhudora, give specific rewards on an increasingly expensive scale up to some highly rare and valuable items - Here is a Guide to Jhudora and Illusen Quests. Don't be in a hurry to do these quests as the higher levels cost you excessive amounts and are prone towards failure due to the time limit and rarity of those itmes they demand.
The third faerie is Taelia the Snow Faerie. She can be found up on Terror Mountain & gives quests that usually pay off with items worth about 4000 to 10,000 NP. She may ask for items priced anywhere from 100 NP to 50,000 NP. Dont pay more than 4000 for items she demands and you will usually come out ahead though you will have to let most of her quests expire for being overpriced. If you fail her quest there is no real penalty and you can return later & seek another as soon as the current on e expires.
There are other quests, not faerie related, but in my experience they are rarely worth the effort & I will simply refer you to on e of many guides regarding these and other demand quests such as the Esophagor & Brain Tree, Witch Edna and the Cook. Here is a site that has info on those Other Quest's" Guide. Another Quest Guide
on e last comment about Faeries~
Bottled Faeries. If you dont care for faeries you might appreciate that Balthazar, who lives in the Haunted Woods, makes a hobby out of capturing faeries, sticking them in bottles and selling them around Neopia. Rumor is that he even donates a load of bottled faeries to the Money Tree every few days or so!
The reason it is good to know about bottled faeries is that when you release on e, she will bless your pet and give it a special power that is useful in the battle dome. Powers depend on your pets current level so be sure to check out the Bottled Faerie Guide before releasing on e.

The Magic Door

Do you want to travel to lost & hidden places? Itching to explore? Then enter the magic door I found. It leads to many little known places of Neopia. It can take you from the reaches of outer space to the bottom of the sea! If you are the curious type like me, press a button and step through the magic door {click the links} & see where each takes you! Be warned, exploration allways has its risks! You will meet beings & see sights few ever will and some never return! If you find yourself in peril or need to return, just hit the back arrow button and jump through the doorway - it should bring you back here safely.

Part III - Hot Links

With all the troubles TNT is having on corrupted user pages I can not guarantee all of these will work at this time. I suggest you try them and if not, check back another time. I will try to have more than on e hot link for each topic & with a little luck there will allways be on e that works!

Since you read down this far on my page I will share with you a few more secret links. Some say it is cheating and while it is not against the TNT Rules, it is giving away answers to help you earn more Neopoints but it takes you to the Trivia Games that belong to the sponsors that pay to help you get the chance to play in Neopia for free(!) and I think that going to their games at all is giving them what they want ;) so go now and earn some REALLY BIG Neo-Points! Then, come back to my shop, Curious Curios, and see if you can't find something worthwhile to buy. That helps to make all this work worth it to me - that and knowing you now know your way around Neopia & there are some helpful people on ly a click away!

Info about Premium Accounts
For those envious of the Packrat Avatar check this NeopiansPackrat List". He gives you info on cheap items to hunt down.

PS - Dave got the Packrat Avvie by accident, in his third week on Neopets.com and his count keeps climbing!! At 3 months a user, his current "seek" count would look something like: 2130/1000 with a total count of items at 9,966 {on 2/10/05} ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here a few more advanced help pages that I am checking out - but remember that some of these will hang or come up slow because of TNT site measures for securit. I still have to check their page code to insure they are browser safe, so click at your own risk:

Lesson for the Month - outside web addresses
Everyone is used to clicking on addresses to get somewhere in the internet, but Neopets.com, while you are allowed to enter images & other HTML stuff from outside web sites, does not allow web links to sites outside their domain. If you try to put on e in your shop, user or pet pages it will "Block" the info automatically. You will find that many help pagess will show an address but put spaces in the text so it doesnt get blocked. If you see something like this or if there is an address that has "-dot-" in the middle of it they want you to copy the address to your browser address box above and either remove the spaces or change the -dot- into a period. on e example of this is getting to Jelly World. Try accessing this place by copying the text below into your internet address box at the top of your browser then remove the space between the "http://www.neopets.com/" and the "jelly/" : http://www.neopets.com/ jelly/index.phtml?
This should take you to Jelly World.

If you want to get some free jelly, try doing the same with this web address:
http://www.neopets.com/ jelly/link_not_found

Rumors I am testing:
The Wheel of Excitement - Here is what we were told
If you play the wheel of Excitement exactly on the hour (NST), 90% of the time you win 10,000 np!
Remember, not sure if this is true, but here is what happened to us when we tried:
Try #1: 10:00 & -0- seconds THE SKULL!!! - Eleonic starts to feel slightly feverish... maybe they have come down with a disease... DHOOOOOP!! :(
Try #2:12:00 PM NST - Mystery Prize - You on ly win 51 Neopoints... oh well, better luck next time!
Try#3: 7:00 & -0- seconds PM NST - THE SKULL!!! - Eleonic starts to feel slightly feverish... maybe they have come down with a disease... :(
Oh MY - time to go see the Dr. again!
Try #4: 11:00 & -0- seconds PM NST "You win 500 Neopoints!!"
Next Rumor:Regarding the Discarded Magical Blue Plushie of Prosperity "Click on it and you might get a fabulous reward. I have never won, but TNT vows (in the Neopets Magazine) that it works."
I have found that when you click on this sad lookin little dude there are two possible things which can occur. A little grey box pops up with either some dots like this "......." or less often the box has this "0_o" . In hopes of actually getting "a fabulous reward" I keep trying. Here is our current number of attampts
