Welcome && Stuff 'bout me!

Nice to see you! I'm Scarlet and I have decided to dedicate my page to my favourite place in the whole of Neopia! Well from the title I'm sure that you have guessed it's Meridell. Why do I love Meridell? It's the most beautiful, peaceful land in the whole world and I just love the greenery, and the whole medieval concept. I also live there! Well first of all, let me properly introduce myself, for you'll be spending this whole tour with me, won't you?

Here is my photo:

Yepp, that's me. I happen to be a Striped Xweetok. Yeah, I know. I look like the Faerieland type eh? But I'm actually not, and remember what they say; never judge a book by it's cover! Okay, now here are my stats:

By the way, thanks for voting previously! Because of you all, I've gotten myself a gold!
As you may know, I am a very playful pet. I love playing games, and my favourite colours are all of them except the dark ones. You may have already read all that on my pet lookup though. My owner had helped me bring this page up as well. I hope you like it and will enjoy the tour. Be sure to visit my sisters' pet pages as well.

I have won the Site Spotlight and I'm truly happy! Anyways, back to the tour guide! I'm going to show you the places I love and the things I love about Meridell!

Welcome to Meridell

Okay how to get to Meridell? Go on your explore map, and click on the red and white castle that's fairly above Faerieland. Alternatively, click here. Voila, you're here.

Isn't it just beautiful? Anyhow, let's get a move on. Let me introduce you to all the places. But first, I'd like you to take note of the dark, misty landform hovering above Meridell. That happens to be Darigan Citadel. You don't want to wander into Darigan's Chamber, because Lord Darigan may become furious of your arrival. You can pay a visit, anytime though, and also see the petpet arena! Jus to tell you, we won't be going to Darigan Citadel. That place just gives me the creeps. So to your bottom left corner is Meridell Castle. In your upper left corner we have Meri Acres Farm. And somewhere around the right there's a sign that leads to Brightvale.

Brightvale is another world in Neopia, and it is the neighboring kingdom of Meridell. It is ruled by King Hagan, the brother of King Skarl who is the ruler of Meridell. It's a very knowledgeable place, with of course lovely stained glass windows. Feel free to pay it a visit anytime. Unfortunately, our tour guide does not cover Brightvale but I'm sure you could find another one somewhere else.
And now, we continue to the very first stop at Meridell.

Cheese Roller

The very classical game and can only be found here, in Meridell. You can find the link to Cheese Roller in the upper left corner of the whole Meridell map. Basically, you are brought to a place where this blue techo here will ask you for the name of a type of a cheese. I will take the initiative of listing them here for your own convenience. Just enter their names into the box and buy it if you would like. After you buy it, you can roll down the hill with the cheese. If you roll down with it and finish before one minute, you get to keep the cheese. Keep in mind fast reflexes and internet capability has nothing to do with it. It is overall a matter of luck. After purchasing the cheese, you have to roll down the hill with it and you have many choices to choose from such as go faster, turn right, or turn left. Random things may happen to you as you go down, some can be good and some bad. Unfortunately, this game is only playable 3 times a day. Once you're down you may also win neopoints depending on how fast you went. Okay, so now here are your cheese wheel types. I'll list the price under the name.

Remember, this game isn't as easy as it sounds! Give it a try anytime! Let's continue

Illusen's Glade

You can find Illusen's Glade right below Cheese Roller. This glade is home to the kind, hospitable earth faerie, Illusen. I like to pay her a visit almost everyday. She is open to all who need help or she gives opportunities for quests to others. Her arch enemy is Jhudora, the evil dark faerie. She had cursed Illusen long ago and for that, Illusen will never forgive Jhudora. Illusen requests for ingredients and no-one really knows why. But if you bring them to her in the given time, she will reward you greatly. Here is an article pulled freshly out of the Neopedia regarding Illusen.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She kneels in the soft grass, surrounded by blossoms, smiling as the scents tickle her nose. A garden sits behind her home, high on a hill overlooking Meridell. She watches as workers rebuild the castle and surrounding village. It's a slow healing, but healing nonetheless.

Just then, a small Kyrii comes running up the hill, carrying something. "Illusen!" he shouts. "Lady Illusen!" He's waving a pouch over his head, and when he reaches the top of the hill, he's completely out of breath.

She's kneeling before him, eyes wide and curious. "What is it, Vadellen?"

He pauses, opens the bag and pulls out a small charm. "I found it," he says. Extending the charm forward, she takes it with her gentle hands.

That's exactly what I needed," she whispers. Popping up from the grass, she rushes over to her garden. "Come here!" she says. "I have your reward!"

Just then, a shadow passes over the glade and a chilly wind blows across the grass. The Kyrii huddles close to Illusen and she holds him. "Don't worry," she whispers, "she can't hurt you here."

There is laughter from the shadow. "Hurt him? Hurt him? Trust me, sister, your little friend is of no interest to me."

It's -- it's Jhu--," Vadellen begins, but Illusen gently covers his mouth.

Shhh," she tells him. Then, turning back to the shadow, she asks, "What do you want?"

I'm almost done," the shadow snickers. "And you've hardly begun."

Illusen shakes her head. "Your spies are misin-invalid_word-ed, sister," she says. "I'm nearly finished."

Finished," the shadow says, then her voice grows darker. "Yes. You are nearly... finished."

The shadow dissipates as her laughter echoes across the glade. The little Kyrii looks up at Illusen. "What did she mean?"

Shaking her head, Illusen replies, "Nothing, little one." Her eyes look up at the sky, where a dark cloud lingers... growing stronger every day. "Nothing at all.

Snack Time! Greetings from Merifoods

Meridell has it's own food store as well. You'll find it beside Illusen's Glade and it has a white banner and is beside a small campfire with an array of stones around it. It sells a lot of Medieval foods. They also sell Draik Eggs. Draik Eggs are very rare and if you are fortunate enough to be there when the shop restocks, you can purchase one. Neopets named Draiks hatch out of them if you know the secret of hatching Draik Eggs. They are very expensive to buy from Merifoods as well. In this shop they would cost around 60k to 100k depending on the price and how much you haggle. If you buy a Draik Egg from anywhere else, it would be about 2 million neopoints. Whoa! That's a lot. Here's a long, long list of the items you can buy at Merifoods. (cheese items, items not found in the Neopets search engine which are pretty rare/retired and berries are not listed for they have already been or will be covered in other topics omitting the rare items)

Phew! That ought to be the biggest item list I've ever created! Anyhow feel free to help yourself with a snack from Merifoods. Just to warn you, this will be the only food stop we'll be taking during the tour. Purchase as much as you would like to last your hunger until the end of this tour.

De Olde Petpet Corner

Oh, don't we all love petpets! Meridell is proud to have it's own bunch. If you're still looking for a friend for your Neopet, here's your chance to get 'em. Buy them fast because stocks run out quite quickly here. Here's a list of Meridellian Petpets that might be found in this very shop:

Crokabec Turtum Whinny Symol Ganuthor Cyodrake Albat Karren
Vullard Zebie Mortog Turmac Drackonack Dragoyle Gallion Drackobunny
Manger Tralbak Spyven Wibreth Hoovle Seece

And that concludes our petpet stop! Hope you're enjoying the tour so far.

The Meridell Castle

Welcome, all to Meridell's number one sightseeing place, the Meridell Castle. There are a few different places to visit here. Feel free to take out your cameras to snap a couple of pictures of the castle. On your far bottom left is the King's Chamber which we will be visiting shortly. And our first stop is the Potion Shop!

Kayla's Potion Shop

This is Meridell's only potion shop and you are welcome to buy something for your magical needs. Here is a list of all the magic items you may be able to buy from here:

Kaylas Potion of Freezing

Fizzy Ummagine Potion

Kaylas Silver Brew

Kaylas Golden Brew

Vanishing Potion

Mortog Serum

Snidberry Dew

Bomberry Elixir

Kaylas Homemade Remedy

The Grumpy Old King

This is King Skarl, brother of King Hagan who is the ruler of Brightvale. The title of the place is very literal as well. For King Skarl is after all a very grumpy king. Well after Lord Darigan destroyed almost everything in Meridell, the King indeed became quite grumpy. Now your job is to cheer him up. How are we supposed to do that? Why, tell your most wittiest joke to him and if you're lucky, he'll give you a small token of gratitude. They're usually some kind of food that's left from his royal kitchen. Just to note, the joke doesn't have to make sense. Why, I once got a chuckle out of him by telling him:
Question: When aren't you think a pack of Faerie Barbat for can't stand from Count Von Roo?
Answer: By hidden the copy of Tyrannian Barbat Candy Vampire bomberries!
So basically, it's quite random. I'd say King Skarl doesn't have a sense of humor. He must have lost it in the Meridell War or something... poor guy. He usually gives you some kind of food or a small or large amount of neopoints if he actually laughs at your joke. Or sometimes he just feels generous and gives you something because of your effort. I'd suggest coming here everyday as a daily, just like that. And that's that.

And that concludes our trip to the castle. Of course, there a few games you can play here. I'd rather not explain their rules, because they already have such magnificent rule pages which you can read anyways. Here's a list of all of the games you can play in the castle, and a tiny description below it.

Double Or Nothing

Play a game of Double or Nothing with our fellow Skeith, Snargan here. If you feel it's your lucky day, help yourself to this great game. Be sure not to use up all of your neopoints with Snargan here.

Invasion Of Meridell

Play the remake of the battle of the Invasion of Meridell 300 BN against mutated creatures attacking the walls of the Meridell Castle.

Escape From Meridell

Help Valrigard the blue Draik escape from Meridell Castle since he is innocent and had done no crime, and still was imprisoned in the deep, dark cells of prisons.

Meriball

NOTE: This game is now off the site but you can still play it for fun and no neopoint reward.
Play Meriball, the national sport of Meridell with Lisha and her friends!

The Racetrack!

Watch the Turdles race in Meridell! You know they're much more entertaining than poogles. Why poogles are so fast, but the actual thing that makes you sit on the edge of your seat is the near end of a race when the quite slow turdles head for the finish. We have 5 Turdles to choose from. Choose wisely, and bet wisely as well. Win or lose, watching the race is worth it! If you choose to bet, then you may want to know more about them. Here's the chart pulled out of the very page of Turdle Racing. I just put it here so it would be easier to access.

Stinky: Turdle One
Stinky is fastest turdle this side of Tyrannia. If you think he is losing, think again, as Stinky is reknowned for unexpected last-second victories!
Odds 3:1.
Poopy: Turdle Two
Poopy is a cunning little turdle, employing every trick in the book to make sure he comes in first.
Odds 4:1.
Smelly: Turdle Three
Smelly's unique advantage is that other turdles keep well away from him, mainly due to the fact he never washes!
Odds 5:1.
Squelchy: Turdle Four
Squelchy sometimes sticks to the floor... so if you see him not moving for a while, he probably needs a little shove.
Odds 7:1.
Nutty: Turdle Five
This crazy turdle will do anything he can to run straight for the finish line, but beware - expending lots of energy makes him prone to randomly falling asleep.
Odds 9:1.

Meridellian Games

Now ofcourse, there are a few games I didn't cover yet. They are to be found in Meridell and scattered around. Just like how I explained them in the Castle area, I'll explain them as briefly here. And here's our first game!

Ultimate Bullseye

Check your accuracy in this all-time classic of shooting the bullseye! In this game, you have 10 tries to hit that bullseye, give it all you've got. And um, be sure to not hit anyone else while you're at it.

Round Table Poker

If you adore poker and are a complete champion, this is the right game for you. Enter the tournament if you wish, and have fun! (I still don't understand why they play in sucha dark room!)

Kiss The Mortog

Test your sense of choice when you have to choose between the mortogs to see which one you think is the prince. It's a matter of luck but all the way through, worth it! Personally, I wouldn't want to kiss a Mortog. *shivers*

Shapeshifter

Test your mind with this incredible puzzler involving swords and crowns. Make sure you read the rules before playing, it can be quite hard to learn at first.

The Great Turmy

Who is the greatest of all petpets, the largest, the mightiest. Haven't you guessed? The legendary Turmaculus! He can eat anything, any time, and any where. He has eaten so much, now he can't even move. And therefore, he sleeps 24/7 in the land of Meridell. Many petpets have tried to wake him up, and only a few succeeded and never lived to tell the story. Some day, the Turmaculus may even eat your petpet. Beware of the dangers that lay near him, and approach him if you dare.

You have 10 methods of waking him up.

1. Hit him with a stick
2. Ring a bell
3. Kick him
4. Sing to him
5. Tap dance for him (not suggested for those who are inexperienced with tap dancing)
6. Blow your nose
7. Sneeze
8. Dump cold water on him
9. Scream
10. Ban pots and pans

Choose which you think is the best, although waking him up is quite random. He may even eat your pet, so approach with caution.

A Mysterious Symol Hole?

You can access this place by going to the hole beneath the greyish looking tree. This a mysterious hole created by a petpet, and only a petpet can fit. People have guessed it to be a symol who created it. Enter it if you wish, nothing much happens, well I think so.

Last Stop; Meri Acres Farm

Oh joy! It's Meri Acres Farm, my favourite place to visit. Aye, it'll probably be your last area to visit in this Meridellian tour. It looks like such a calming place, why; I do love all farms in general. But of course, there aren't really any other farms we know of in Neopia. I sure wish there were. Our home is on the farm, we tend to own our little plot of land as well on which we grow strawberries. Enough about how much I love the farm. Let's see how you like it when you see the different places you can visit. There are tons of activities, and games. Let's start off with the far bottom left corner, just above the sign to Meridell.

Potato Counter

Alton Moughbry the yellow Kacheek is usually bored so he decided to create potato counting. Potato Counting is a huge tourist attraction around here. Why if you're so bored you can visit him to guess how many potatoes he's got. He times you and if you get the amount right, he awards you neopoints according to how well you timed it. You can only play 3 times a day, unfortunately. But it's a great way to get some pocket money. I tend to take about 20 to 30 seconds myself to count potatoes and I get a little less than 100 neopoints. So anyways, take your time and try it. It's pretty addictive as well, too bad we can only play 3 times a day. Once I actually ate one of the potatoes to make my answer correct. Erm, all I can say is that raw potatoes don't taste that good...

Guess The Weight of The Marrow

Here's another cheerful game that's also quite popular around these parts. Ye see, there once was a farmer who grew the largest marrow in the history of forever. In it's memory, they now have a guessing game where you have to guess the weight of the current day's largest marrow. If you get it right, and are of the first 10 people to get it right as well, you win a fabulous prize (I don't really know what it is=/). The marrow usually weighs between 200 and 800 pounds. I don't think it's wise to calculate the number in the middle though, it's usually not that. I just give some random number, it's just a game of luck anyways.

The Rubbish Dump

Are you looking to pick up some souvenirs from Meridell that aren't expensive and free? Welcome to the Rubbish Dump, where Meridellians get rid of their smelly old junk. You can't really find anything valuable around here. You can collect any souvenier junk around here, no-one will ask you to pay for it! It's pretty much like the money tree, but only Meridell junk comes here. This evil Kacheek here is the manager of the areas. I've always wondered why he's so evil... Who knows, you may find something extraordinary as well. ;)

Pick Your Own

Don't you just adore berry picking? Well now, you can Pick Your Own! With not a great big fee of 400 NP, you get a punnet and a maximum of 6 berries in it. Too bad there's a time limit as well. Well, not really a time limit. You can only go to 20 places of the farm, and then your time is unfortunately up. There are a quite a number of berries you can pick out there. Here's a list of 'em. The white-backgrounded ones are more rarer than the other transparent ones.

Blue Bomberry Eyeballberry JumbleBerry Conkerberry Purple Felberry
Voidberry Chiaberry Super Juicy Berry Sniddberry Pusberry
Mortogberry Nutritional Blockberry Fishberry Loveberry Half-Eaten Berry
Dorkleberry Spoogentberry Aquaberry Brown Broadberry Orange Graspberry
Burritoberry Breenutberry Unguberry

Attack Of The Slorgs

Save Meridell's farms from being attacked by the horrid slorgs who are trying to eat all the fresh and delectable fruits and vegetables. It's your job to stop them. Use your slorg repellent and show those slorgs just what you're made of!

Extreme Potato Counter

If you need more action in counting potatoes, play extreme potato counting. It's the fun game for today's youths. Potato counting has never been so action packed!

And that concludes Meri Acres Farm. I hope you enjoyed this visit as much as I did. It is almost time to say farewell unfortunately.

Farewell to All

Now I bet that your bad opinions about Meridell have changed a lot. Meridell is my most favourite place in the whole wide Neopia. And I'll never change my mind about that! To conclude our tour, here are some Meridell-Related Avatars.

Avatars Found In Meridell

A Final Goodbye

It was really fun being with you to explore Meridell. Be sure to frequently visit Meridell, and me! I live in Meri Acres Farm, as you may have known. I do hope I provided useful in-invalid_word-ation for you and you learned a couple of new things. You can leave from Meri Acres farm right now by taking a ride from the Meri Acres Railway or you can explore more of Meridell and leave later on, using the later stop of the train. Either way, enjoy yourself and good bye!
