Jhonen looked throughout the forest. He had heard of a xweetok that wanted to 'get rid of him.' He looked around and saw no sign of a xweetok. Trotting into the forest he stopped in his tracks. He had heard the sound of a xweetok....
Savenro watched Jhonen quietly, sitting upon a branch above the tree Jhonen stood under. The first on his list... this kit had been revived before, and he was here to collect his soul. He had a slightly pained expression, he never did like taking souls of those who lived, but he had disobeyed the laws of nature. In truth, he should not be living. And so he had to kill him.
Jhonen whimpered and looked above him.... he quickly darted to his book tree when he saw the ghostly xweetok.
You will feel no pain." Said the ghost softly, before unsheathing a long katana, which he held in his left paw. With unearthly speed, he dashed towards Jhonen, and sliced across the kit's chest. The blade passed through Jhonen's body without touching it apparently, severing the cord of Destiny, that chained the soul to the body.
Jhonen's spirit kept running towards the tree, but his body crumpled to the ground, dead. Savenro looked forward towards Jhonen's spirit. "It is done, child." He said firmly.
Jhonen nodded and sighed. "Alright Saverno! turn me into a kit! I'm ready!"
Saverno nodded, most spirits would want rebirth. After all, since they had revived, it was because they wanted to stay on this world for longer. "You will be reborn soon," he said, as he sheathed his sword, "as a kit, with no memories of your past life. You will start anew, you will not remember anything from your past life."
He gave Jhonen a stern look, "Make sure you do better this time around, and live a fulfilling life." Already Jhonen's spirit seemed to be disipating into the mist, as he was attracted to the new body that would house his spirit.
Good luck."
Ator really wanted to see Noki face to face one last time before he was turned back into a kit. There was no way he could get all the Xweetoks surrounding her to go away, though. He tapped her extremely gently on the shoulder, or at least he tried to.
Noki turned around and saw Ator. "Hello," She said simply, since he probably wanted to say something of his own.
Ator looked at Noki. She was pretty, but he knew she didn't love him... plus, he was going to become a kit anytime now... 'I wanted to say thanks for risking your life for me,' Ator said. He really was grateful for that.
Noki cocked a smile. "You're welcome," She said kindly. She knew that Xorren hated Ator and all, but remembered when he tried to kill him again. Ator had been hurt, and Noki didn't want to see anyone tortured in a way that she knew Xorren could've done. So, she had defended him, causing Xorren to attack her and get her out of the way so he could kill Ator.
Ator sighed. 'I do not want to become a kit again. It makes me a vulnerable target for Xorren. I won't know what to do if he attacks me...' He sighed again.
She winced. "Well, hopefully he'll be..." she paused, trying to find the right words. "...better by that time. And even if he isn't, you'd be harder to find, and probably harder to attack, being smaller and all.." She stopped. It was hard to comfort him at the moment, mostly because he was right; if Xorren was to find Ator after he became a kit he could easily murder him.
Ator looked to the ground and sighed once more. 'Guess my life will be ended when I become a kit... I will be so easy to kill for all those Xweetoks who want revenge... I shouldn't have done what I did...' he said.
Well," She prepared herself for what she was going to say. "You're right. If you wouldn't have done what you did earlier you wouldn't be in any of this mess. But you can't change that. What's done is done. You have to learn to defend yourself if you want to live as a kit."
Venoru was listening to Noki and Ator.
"If you regret what you've done," He said, loud enough for them to hear, "Then someone will protect you. Just ask, before you become reborn."
Ator heard what Venoru said. 'But... who?' he asked, looking to the sky. He didn't exactly know anyone that would take care of him. Maybe if they raised him right, they could raise him to become a nice Xweetok, instead of an evil one.
Savenro sighed softly, as Jhonen's spirit finally disappeared, he was already being reborn. There were others he had to deal with now.
While he resented the fact that so many knew of him already, he supposed it made his job easier, as Jhonen had accepted his fate quickly, making the transition to rebirth fast for his soul.
As the ghost advanced through the forest, he saw up ahead a group of xweetoks ahead, inlcuding Ator...
Venoru had sensed Savenro.
He couldn't tell why, but he recalled, a long time ago souls were lost in Unreality. They were now...screaming out to him, through the creatures, alerting him of a death bringer nearby.
At first he didn't understand, but the reaper he had heard of came to mind, and he said to Ator, "If you must..I can raise you, or perhaps Noki. I can see you regret what you've done."
I do have two kits of my own," Noki said finally. "Plus Alkarai and Trinn. I could raise you with them, if you like. It wouldn't be too hard keeping you out of trouble." She smiled.
Ator looked at Savenro, then back at Noki. 'Please, if you decide to raise me, make sure I am not evil. I hate being evil,' he stated. 'I am ready Savenro...' he said simply. He smiled at Noki as a thanks.
Noki nodded, but her expression filled with concern and fear. She didn't want to see whatever this "Savenro" would do. "You'll be fine," She said softly, but then turned her head, closing her eyes.
Savenro walked forward, nodding at Ator. He unsheathed his sword, and mooved smoothly up to him, and with a clean slice severed Ator's Destiny Cord. All the others saw was that Ator collapsed suddenly, dead.
Ator's spirit hovered above his body and Sav looked at him. "You were quite evil in this life." he said sternly. "You will be given a chance at rebirth with a clean slate, use this chance to redeem your soul, so that you may find solace in heaven."
Venoru watched as Ator collapsed, and he winced largely, the souls screaming some more, wishing for rebirth.
He twitched, and then said, "Savenro?"
He was calling out, to the ghost he couldn't see. They were so loud...Begging for rebirth...
I am ready for rebirth,' said Ator's spirit.
Fluffy walked up to the crowd of Xweetoks. She saw Savenro. No... not yet. She wasn't ready. Fluffy made a run for her treehouse, hoping he wouldn't take chase. She had way too much to be finished before she could be reborn.
Fluffy slowed her pace. Ator was down, and so was Jhonen. She had to finish something before she was reborn, otherwise she would completely lose her memory, then she wouldn't remember what she had to do.
Sav just nodded, and Ator's spirit disappeared, as Jhonen's had, looking for it's new body.
He looked over at Venoru. He knew he could not be seen by the xweetok, but as he sheathed his sword, he made his voice be more substancial.
I'm here." He said loudly. His voice could be heard strongly by those who had died before, or had strong spiritual powers, for the rest it was a ghostly whisper.
Venoru heard it fairly, and said, "They are asking for rebirth. Lost in Unreality."
He still felt them, pressing against where his portal would appear, waiting for an answer. They had lost their bodies, floated in complete chaos, if they had a chance...to live again...
Lost souls?" Echoed Savenro. He frowned. It wasn't his job to find them, but if he could guide lost souls for rebirth, then he could not say no.
Nodding, even though he knew no one saw him, he said "Yes, let them come, I'll guide them."
Venoru nodded, and held a paw to the air.
Unreality opened easily, and about ten spirits flew out, not followed by anything else, as Venoru knew his thoughts and the appearance of Savenro had echoed throughout Unreality and brought them all.
They stared at Savenro, freezing. This was the one.
Venoru saw nothing, as his connection tot he spirits had been severed once they exited Unreality.
Savenro looked at them come forward. He nodded, looking at each in turn. "You've been lost for some time, cut off from the circle of life and rebirth." he stated somewhat solemnly. "Let this be a time of rebirth."
As he said this, each soul flew away to find a new life, all sins cleansed.
Savenro paced back and forth, as if patroling the north pass. In truth he was just working off excess energy and worry. He stopped, sitting in the middle of the pass, looking out towards the jungle. Maybe he wouldn't come... that would be best... but it still worried him, this seeming lull in activities.
Neph layed under a tree, her faint marine wings layed weakly against her back.
She seemed to slow down a lot, not wanted to be bothered. She felt her body slowly die away from the inside out. It hurt, but she couldn't come to tell anyone what was wrong. Sure, she was amazed that her body held out for this long, but mabye it was too long. Neph sighed, sitting up and staring out blankly in thought.
Savenro's tail flickered, as he seemed to look out across the distance, trying to make out anything, but finally sighed, and turned, walking back towards the trees. He noticed Neph, but didn't say anything, used to being ignored, he usually ignored everything in return.
Neph's ears twitched as she leaned up, feeling Savenro near by. She quickly turned, watching him as something in her head ticked. Mabye she didn't have to die, but asking Savenro for help made her wonder how much of her would be risked. Neph quietly moaned confusedly, trying to make up her mind before finally standing. "Are you busy?" She asked quietly, eyes closely on Savenro.
Savenro stopped, looking over at her in mild surprise. "Oh, you." He said, as he turned around, "Not particularly, why?"
Neph seemed quiet for a moment. "My body's becomming unstable, if nothing's done, it'll fail on me and my soul won't have a vessle. Asking Tsunai to help would just put us in the same problem over a time of mabye three years. So.... I was just wondering if you could have me reborn. I supose it'd be better then dying..." She sighed, sitting back down as her tail twitched closely to her.
Savenro studied her. He'd never liked how she'd been given that body when he elarned of it, now he saw it had it's grave downside. "You realize rebirth is a new beggining? You'd loose all your memories."
Neph whinced. "I know-I know..." She quickly replied. "I guess I'll just have to relearn then. Better then death." She shrugged. "I don't take it as a big deal. We all have to make sacrifices."
Savenro nodded, "I'm fine with that, you wish to wait out your bodie's lifespan or rebirth now? And do you have someone to look after you?"
Not... that I know of..." Neph muttered, looking tword the ground. "Airaphe and Keidaj are already stuck in their own problems, and I don't know how much longer the body will hold out. Things are already getting darker..." She sighed as her tail wraped around her and she looked back to Savenro.
Savenro sighed, "You'll be rendered helpless as a kit, while you'll be a tad older than a newborn, and can walk better, you'd be out here alone waiting for someone to find you. You realize that?"
Neph shrugged and closed her eyes for a few moments before quickly jumping. "Oh. I know of someone... She could watch me.. I think." She thought for a moment, "Yeah." Neph nodded. "She's a friend of Tsunai's. She won't mind.."
Savenro smiled, "Well, why don't you go to her now then?"
Neph nodded, before turning away and vanishing, reappearing a few minutes later with a slender, white coated Xweetok who stared about blankly. "Can.. someone explain this /clearly/?" Tallho blinked. Neph looked at her, twitching slightly as she turned away and sighed.
Savenro watched, slightly amused. "Perhaps you should explain to her, Neph."
Neph glanced at Savenro before Tallho again, "It's just... rebirth. Exactly. No catch." She nodded, "And I need to be looked after for a few months... years.. I think."
Tallho was blank for a few seconds before nodding. "Alright... Just don't act the way you did when you used to be a kit.. we could never catch you..." Tallho sighed.
Neph twitched.
Savenro nodded, taking out his katana. "You're ready then? Can you separate from your body or do you need me to... sever the bond?"
I'm able to seperate souls from bodies, but I can't do it to myself..." Neph shivered as her eyes moved to the katana. Her tail became still.
Tallho watched silently before looking at Savenro. "What'll happen once the soul is seperated anyway?" She tilted her head slightly.
She'll be a ghost, till I rebirth her. The severing and rebirth are painless, and once she is reborn she will have a clean slate, all memories forgotten, it'll be a new start." He explained.
Tallho nodded. Neph was still as she began getting second thoughts as her mind drifted to Death. She tried to ignore it- - flinching slightly.
Tallho glanced at Neph as she sat down. "You'll be fine." She smiled slightly.
Right." Savenro said, with a slight nod. He took one step forward, cleanly swiping the blade through Neph's body. There was no visual effect to this, as the blade passed through the body without harming it. But the blade had effectively cut Neph's soul from the body, which was now dead, her soul free and floating where she had stood, as the empty body crumpled to the ground.
Tallho whinced as she quickly stood and steped back, eyes watching Neph's soul. "O- oh my god.." She twitched, sitting down again hesitively before looking at Savenro, then Neph's soul again.
Savenro reversed his katana, and looked at Neph's soul, smiling reassuringly, he pressed the end of the hilt to her forehead. There was a bright light and her soul shimmered and disappeared. Almost at once, and as the light died down, on the floor of the forest lay a small kit, perhaps one week old.
Neph blinked, staring blankly-- ploped down in a sit. She was silent as Tallho walked over to her, poking Neph slightly with her paw. "This is so... weird.." She muttered as Neph pulled herself to her paws, leaning her weight on Tallho. Her tail twitching as she smirked slightly, looking about curiously.
Savenro watched her, and chuckled. "They always look quite adorable and a tad confused."
Tallho nodded slightly, picking up Neph by her scruff. Before looking at Savenro and muttered through her jaw, "She's still bloodlined, right? It's.. really hard to tell unless they use their power..."
Neph blinked, staring at Savenro before pawing at Tallho's paw and curling herself up.
Savenro nodded, "Yeah." He watched the kit. Not all kits could see him after they were reborn, so it was interesting she could see him.
Tallho nodded. "That's good. Tsunai would kill me if she wasn't" She sighed before smiling. "Thank you. Everything should be a lot easier now." Tallho assured, her tail beginning to twitch.
Savenro nodded, "Hope everything goes well. For her... and say hi to Tsunai if you see her." He said happily.
Will do." Tallho replied as she turned away, her eyes glowed brightly as she vanished with Neph. Taking post deep in the forest untill she could let neph roam on her own.
Savenro sheathed his katana, and turned, walking off into the forest.
