The Disappearance of Krawk Island

Updates

Week of July 11th - Krawk Island is attacked by giant tentacles
July 21st The tentacles have vanished, but where's Krawk Island??
July 29th Can we recover all the islets?
August 9th Epic Success!

Let the event commence....

Heading over to the disappearance page (linked from the main Neopets home page), we can click on the Shanty to take us to the Solitary Shanty, where we need to search the seas for Krawk Island.

Pick a square from the map, and click on it. We can search 5 squares each day (so in 10 days time, we will have searched the entire grid).

Once we've picked the sqaure, we then get given a map of the ocean that we need to search. Click on a sqaure where you think Krawk Island might be hidden - once we've found no trace of an island 5 times in total, the fog rolls in, leaving us unable to continue searching that patch of ocean, so it's back to the map to pick another sqaure.

After we've searched as much as possible for the day, we need to report back to the Krawk in the Solitary Shanty:

I see you're back from today's search. I can only be imaginin' what it's like out there, considerin' that whatever did this to the island is still roaming the waters. I've heard rumours that a sea monster may be responsible, but you know pirates and their tall tales. If nothing else, with Krawk Island's riches scattered to the four winds, I'm certain you've come across plenty of... fringe benefits, no? Hehe. Let's try not to get too distracted, though... savvy?

Then, there's nothing else to do, but wait until tomorrow, and hope that Krawk Island will be discovered somewhere in the ocean.

Islet Retrieval

Now we have searched all the ocean for the Krawk Island islets, we need to retrieve one islet each day. As well as the visible islets, there is one invisible islet we also need to retrieve - that one can be found by hovering the mouse over each square on the map, and finding the one that doesn't have an islet, but can be clicked.

Clicking on one of the islets will take us to the Retrieval page.

This puzzle is like Roodoku - we need to arrange the crew, so that each square, row and column has one of each crew member.

To add a crew member to a square, simply click the picture of the crew at the top of the deck, then click the square we want to add them to. To clear a crew member from a square, all we need to do is click the square again, or to reset the puzzle, select clear the deck. Once we've completed the puzzle, we need to click attempt to sail!.

If we completed the puzzle correctly, then we need to report back to the Krawk in the Solitary Shanty:

Well, well! Glad to see that that rickety schooner of yours made it back -- with a piece of Krawk Island in tow, no less. Ahh, yes... this lovely plot will be like putty in the hands of a master sculptor as I bring me grand design to life, restorin' our beloved Krawk Island to its rightful glory!

After the first couple of days, the puzzles are getting more challenging, with either different shapes, or more squares and crew members. If you're struggling with the puzzle, just remember that it can't be impossible! It might help to draw it out on a piece of paper first, then you can cross off the ones that don't work for a specific square. If you're unable to get one coloured area completed, then try working on a different area, which might be easier to at least move one crew member into.

Once we've completed the puzzle correctly, we need to report back to the Krawk in the Solitary Shanty:

Ahh yes, the Dubloon-O-Matic! I definitely have to be findin' a place for that straightaway! While I'm still weighin' the pros and cons of convertin' me holdin's to NP, devaluin' dubloons via mass production, an' then issuin' a decree that bans their use on Krawk Island, I'd say at this moment me inclination would be not to bother. After all, once the island's restored I'll be fabulously wealthy an' powerful anyway... we'll see. In the meantime, avast with yer pesterin' and come back when you're of use to me tomorrow.

Epic Success!

At last, me grand vision for the restoration of Krawk Island has been achieved! While, certainly, me leadership were the catalyst for this most staggerin' of accomplishments, I'd like to magnanimously extend me gratitude to all those steadfast swashbucklers who had the wisdom to bend to me will for the greater good of all. Great job, everyone... especially me!

Lastly, visit the Governor's Mansion for a small portion of me newfound wealth, which I've set aside for lackeys like you. Not that ye deserve it... mostly to keep the bellyachin' to a minimum. Now, begone!

For completing the Krawk Island rescue, we get a new avatar:
Something Has Happened!
You are now eligible to use 'Krawken Attack' as an avatar on the NeoBoards!
