History:
This guide currently covers only the 5-key game. Please neomail me any hints for the other games.
Choosing a Starting House
The Faerie House is my number 1 choice because it seems to offer the quickest route to many keys (although it has a disadvantage of being far from the goal if you get catapulted). This is the order I get the keys: white, green, red, blue. I usually don't get the yellow key directly, but either win it in a minigame or use a key grabber. If I get the yellow key early in a minigame, the next key I go for in a minigame is blue, then red, then green... in reverse order of the path I intend to walk in. This way, you can skip the last parts of the path and go straight for the goal.
The Haunted House is my number 2 choice. I get the keys in this order: yellow, red, blue, green... and hope to get the white key in a minigame or with a key grabber.
I haven't found a good path for either of the last two houses, but I'd take the Brownstone over the Traditional House, and get the keys in this order: red, blue, green... then it's a toss up as to which way to go next.
Using Powerups
I like to save my powerups until I have the maximum (3), then use one every turn until I no longer have the maximum. You don't want to have to discard a powerup in order to pick up one, when you could've used it up first. However, there are some situations where you want to keep all your powerups for defense and not pick up anything new.
Battle Dice: Don't use this if you are ahead - it just gives your opponents a chance to gain an advantage. The best time to use it is if you're behind and if your target opponent already has 3 powerups and you don't have 3. That way, even if they win, they'll still have to discard something. I wonder what happens if someone else just played a Giant Lint Ball on them?
Boots of Flight: Great to use once you have enough keys to win. The possibility of moving 12 spaces in one turn means your striking distance is now much more dangerous.
Bottled Quicksand: If someone is about to win, this may seem like only delaying the inevitable. However, while the other player is frozen, you'll have another turn and the chance to pick up more power-ups. If you happen to pick up a Bottled Quicksand every turn, you could even keep them frozen forever (shudder).
Key Grabber: Great to save until you only need one more key, or to prevent someone from winning. However, if you see someone pick up a Sticky Hand, use this as soon as possible, before they grab this from you. If someone gets a Tornado Ring, you might want to use it before you lose it.
Loaded Gummy Die: Normally, you'd want to go 6 spaces. One exception is if there's a key that's too far from you, you can choose to land on a mini-game and hope to win the key you're after. Another exception is to use this to land on that black X in the middle, to claim your key / power-up treasure. dipper70 mentioned another great use for this: preventing the Giant Lint Ball from hurting you much.
Misdirected Compass: This is good for defense. If you're about to win and somebody plays a compass on you, as long as you have your own compass, you can fix your direction again.
Rainbow Fountain Water: Like the key grabber, great to save. If you're about to win, keep it and switch one of your spare keys if someone steals one of your more important keys. If someone else is about to win, you can mess up their color combination. Also like the key grabber, beware of others picking up a Sticky Hand and Tornado Ring.
Sticky Hand: This is great defense - I try to save it and only use it as a last resort. If you get a hand first, try to grab any hand anybody else gets - this ensures you'll have the only hand. Make sure you grab any Key Grabbers and Rainbow Fountain Waters others get, so you can protect your own keys. The only time I wouldn't do this is if someone has 2 or 3 Key Grabbers - if you make them angry, they'll steal your key(s) with their other Key Grabbers.
Tornado Ring: A bit of a gamble. If someone has a bunch of Key Grabbers or other defensive goodies and is close to winning, this might help.
Transporter Helmet: Also good for defense. If you're close to the goal and someone plays the helmet on you, you can transport back if you also have one. If someone catapults you, you can just wait until someone approaches the goal, then transport over - just make sure they're not so close that they get to the goal before you have a chance to use your transporter.
Minigames
There isn't much to say here. I usually win the mini-games - not sure if it's my computer (which is a low-end $500 model, but I just got it recently, so it's better than a lot of older more expensive ones) or my connection (cable modem). It's almost unfair sometimes - I can purposely play really slow sometimes and still win. It's too bad TNT can't make the minigames run faster for everyone, to make it more fair.
After winning a minigame, be sure to pick the key that's hardest for you to get. If you already have all the keys, pick keys that others still need, so that if they grab them from you, you still have spares... but if you see people with Spare Keyrings, you might want to instead pick colors that they already have, or keys that are hardest for you to get, if you lose what you currently have.

So what does a great Shoyru like me enjoy? I love reading, anarchosyndicalist buys me lots of great books and I am getting really smart. Currently my intelligence is 277 - cool huh! I am only 47569 hours old so I still have a lot to learn. Every weekend I go to watch the Tournaments at the Neopian Battledome. There are some fantastic fights that take place, when I get older I am going to be the best fighter in the whole of Neopia. During the week I usually get taken to the Training School where I learn new skills from the great Techo Master. He is so wise, anarchosyndicalist says I should really listen to the Techo Master as he can teach me everything from endurance and strength to amazing battle moves.
