."Hey," you find yourself saying, "do you mind telling me your story?"

She winces, sighs, then says, "Fine. My story is not a pretty one, but it is a long one, so make yourself comfortable.

You shift your position several times until you're comfortable, then nod.

She sighs and begins her tale.

(please ignore the fact that it changes from 3rd person to 1st person |D too lazy to fix it...)

Wait up! Young Rosalee yelled, chasing after her friend, giggling.

."Never!" yelled her sister, Annalee, and ran away laughing.

Rosalee giggled, and looked around for her friend Kai. He was it, and she didn't want to be alone when he appeared.

Rosa's ears cocked. She looked around. She thought she heard something moving in the grass.

Probably just the wind, she thought, but crouched low in the grass, just in case, and inched her way to open ground; then she could see anything that came by. Suddenly, something jumped and landed right on her back. "Ooof!" said Rosa, and heard Kai giggling. "You're it!" he said, and jumped off her back and ran off.

Rosa smiled slyly, climbed on top of a tall rock, spread her wings, and jumped.

She closed her eyes, enjoying the wind rushing across her face. She was just learning how to fly, and was loving every second of it.

She scanned the ground, looking for Kai (Or Annalee). She spotted Kai running as fast as he could. She smiled again, folded her wings against her back, and fell in a nosedive. Kai looked up fearfully and ran a bit faster. About five feet above Kai, Rosa slowly extended her wings again, and landed on top of Kai.

You're it. She said smugly.

."No fair!" he said angrily, but was smiling anyway. "I don't even have wings!"

Your loss, she said smiling.

Annalee walked up behind Rosa and giggled.

."What're you laughin' at?" said Kai.

."Nothing..." said Anna quickly.

I looked at them both; My sister and my best, best friend. How could they hate eachother so much?

Whatever. I'm hungry. Seeya, Rose." said Kai, and ran off towards his home.

I sighed. We should probably go eat too. I said. Mother might be worried about us. Anna rolled her eyes, then said, "Fine. I am a bit hungry." I smiled, then we ran off to find our mother.

It wasn't that hard. She was the alpha female, therefore she gets to rest on the highest and most comfortable rock.

Mom, we're hungry. I said.

She lazily opens one eye, then says, "Ok. Maybe I can catch you a rabbit or something..."

She stretches, then jumps off her rock and flies away, scanning the ground.

So how long do you think it'll take her?

Annalee smiled slyly. "Ten minutes."

I'm betting on fifteen. I said.

Anna smiled again. "Winner gets the bigger rabbit?"

Deal. We shake paws.

Fifteen minutes later, mother shows up with two rabbits.

I grin when I see the look on Anna's face.

."Yeah, you won this one, but next time I'm getting the bigger rabbit."

Yeah, whatever, I say, giggling, and dig in.

Many years passed. We got older, and hunted for ourselves. We left our mother and found our own new homes. Kai became more than a friend, and Anna found a mate as well.

Annalee became the alpha female; I didn't care. I didn't want power, anyway.

Our lives were practically perfect. That is, until Annalee had pups.

They all came out beautiful; The girls pink, the boys blue. Little tufts of feathers where their wings would eventually be. And all of them had four cute little tails. All were perfect. Except one.

He was smaller then the rest. A runt. They usually don't last long. And something else was wrong with this one...he had three tails instead of four. But that wasn't a very big deal...

Anna leaned over and licked him. He made a small "Yip!" sound. Anna smiled sadly.

After weeks, the pups grew stronger and bigger. They all opened their eyes. Even the runt.

A month later, their wings started growing in. They started as little feathers upon their back, then got bigger, then became wings. But something is wrong with the runt...his wings came out differentely than the others'. They were leathery and larger.

At first, we thought it was no problem.

Then bad things started to happen.

Storms came out of nowhere. Trees fell randomly. Earthquakes struck all the time.

And it only happened when the runt was around. I soon figured out it was him, and prayed that no one else would figure it out.

But, of course, they did.

At first, they shunned him. Completely ignoring him. His mother and I were the only ones paying any attention to him, at all.

They wanted him to die. They knew that it wasn't working, so instead they beat him. Whenever they got the chance, they would bite him, or kick him...

Everyday, he would come home, and have teeth marks everywhere, matted fur, blood...we would lick him furiously, and comfort him; he couldn't go on much longer. He wanted to die too.
