Continuing Plot with Choco and Fort: Looking for my father...
New page? (:

I saw you walking down the road a few moments ago, apologies if I interrupted anything, but I had to call you over.
The past few weeks I've become more open with people, I think. Unfortunately it hasn't done any good for me. Still, I'm quite pleased to have seen you walking by here. Not many people come here, I hope you know. This island isn't exactly the tourist spot of the year, of course I'm glad it's not. I don't enjoy commercialism that much, nor do I wish to be exploited. Anyway...the only creatures who really visit me are scoundrels; several brutish lupes who live together on the far end of the island, although they're always intruding on me.
I'm also visited by a few friends I've come to know who found me somehow or another, other than that I'm all alone here with Fort, my little companion; a droolik who might be wondering around the area, eating things most likely. I guess I'm more of a solitary man.
I'm glad to you have met you for this short moment, guest. Please sit down.

___Childhood_________

I don't remember my dad, but I remember my mom. I remember being warm next to my mothers stomach, my body in complete peacefullness to the soft rythem of her heartbeat. I remember her voice, musical with the loving tone of her whispers.
I remember being shoved in a bushel of weeds to hide as I watched her frantically running away, and I remember when she didn't come back.
For days, it seemed, I was hiding in the shadows of the brambles. As the day went by I was curled up alone under the leaves watching feet pass by every so often. I heard loud shouts from the distant street corners, but I didn't move. By nightfall, my mother had still not come back. And I slept, and I continued to conceal myself throughout a duration of two or three days before someone found me.
What's this, eh? I awoke facing a large grey animal. He opened the reeds I had been hiding in and he smiled at me. The canine upturned his head and turned sideways, yelling behind him, Aye find sometin' yu fell's mite want to see! The animal had a thick accent and of course, I was confused, frightened, and had little idea what the dog was saying.
A pack of brutish looking things approached my safe haven. The largest one, a black canine pushed his way forward and nodded at the grey dog. The black lupe looked at me funny for a moment, before he picked me up, OOhhh, you've got no one in the world to take care of yeu, now do you ja? he said in a calm voice.
The litt'e kidd 'e won't be talkin' to yu, bossy, the grey dog raised his eyebrows, Aye found 'im rit there under the bushels, all 'lone 'e was.
All this time I was being held helplessly in the arms of a large and frightening lupe, like a baby. I was little aware of the fact that this was indeed a gang or a pack of some sort. I did realize eventually that they had terrible grammar and used street slang like it was the only way in the world people spoke. I was adopted by these brutes, and amongst them was one female, only one. She was in charge of me for a while, but the dark-colored leader seemed to take a liking to me. Even now, as I age, his image still terrifies me. He was as black and limitless as night. His bones and muscles were large and his thick curly fur made him look even larger. Anybody who crossed the path of this canine was scared to death and nobody ever disagreed or picked a fight with him.
And yet when he was really, truly happy, he would look at me and he had the sweetest, most caring look in his eyes, and I could tell how happy and kind he was under the dark mask...even if it was just for a moment.
This pack, as it turned out, was a pack of theives. They pick-pocketed, they stole from banks, held up stores, and sometimes snuck into people's houses at night. They were smart and devious and rich from secret treasures.
So was I.
I remember as a small pup, the first time I stole something was during a big public celebration of some sort. I wriggled through the crowds unseen and unnoticed as I slipped into people's pockets and purses and grabbed whatever I could. My small paws made it smoothe and easy for me to get around. At the time I wasn't really caring to notice what exactly I was taking, my simple task was to fill my own pockets with riches from the pockets of other people. I approached my adopted father with the things I had stolen, and he was tremendously proud of me. As a reward he let me keep one thing that I had received, and this was a music box which I had probably snatched from someone's purse.
