So, you are probably asking yourself - What is The Caritas Project? Well, it starts in September 2009 - my old accounts were stolen and I lost the hard work of six years and all my pets, which had deep sentimental value to me. It took me over a year before I returned to Neo
Because I came to a personal realization - I can never really get back what I lost when I lost my pets and I'm not going to try - it may sound silly, I know. But I also realized that with all the scammers and other mean people trolling around Neo, someone has to do something to provide a counterbalance - and that is what Caritas is all about.
So I decided that I'm going to devote my efforts to help other players achieve their goals - namely their Dream-pets. So how am I going to do that?
For one part I'm going to use the Lab Ray(s) to zap pets from the Pound until they get a pretty species and colour, and then I'm going to give them away. Also, 50% of all my income is directly diverted into a kind of Paint Brush fund with which I'm going to paint foster pets and likewise give them away. The remaining 50% is reserved for reinvestment.
Rules and Guidelines
1. Be polite, be honest. Please mind your grammar and don't overuse smileys or exclamation points.
2. Your application should include a list of all your accounts with your main marked as such. The Neomail title should include the pet's name. I accept both NM and PP apps as well as just the questionnaire below. If your app is longer than 2 NMs, please put it on an empty PP. If you read this, take a look at the pet Deekin.
3. Your account must be 4 months old in order to adopt. TNT's rules, not mine.
4. Retooling your old apps is fine. Premade layouts are fine.
5. If you are one of the lucky people to receive a Pet, I would appreciate it if you spread the word and put a notice on their lookie that they were mediated through Caritas ;) After all, the ultimate goal of Caritas is to lead by example and encourage others to show a bit of kindness and selflessness :)

For simplicity's sake, I've set up an application form for those who feel unable to write a proper app without help. But the more creative you get the more likely you are to get chosen, so feel free to chose your own format. Please don't include the questions themselves, it just takes up room.

Q: Can I apply for a pet in order to gift him/her to a friend or relative?
A: No. I need to assess the suitability of the potential owners, not their friends or relatives.
Q: Would you trade your ____ for my ____?
A: No. I don't do pet trading anymore.
Q: Can I adopt your ____?
A: Only the pets with UFA buttons on their lookies are Up For Adoption. Please don't ask about the others, it will only make me irritated.
Q: If I make a super application for a _____ will you paint one for me?
A: No, that would be against Neopets rules.
Q: I have this basic pet I don't want anymore. Would you take him/her in for fostering?
A: Possibly. I get a lot of these requests and my accounts are usually completely full. If you drop me a NM I'll see what I can do.
Q: My dreamie is a ____. Would you consider painting/morphing one for your next Caritas Project?
A: While I don't take individual requests, I do take votes on the matter. But I only paint colors not available from the lab and at a cap of 2 million NPs per Project.
Q: How did you earn so much NP so fast? :O
A: Games, restocking, playing the stockmarket, auction sniping, World Challenges, Habitarium, Key Quest… I basically dabbled in everything. Just ask around on the Help Chat for guides to making Neopoints. But beware the scammers! You always have to do at least some work to get Neopoints and items.
