Things are still under construction here!
Once Upon A Time . . .Its is a dark summer night. The setting: a small sea-town to the East of Neopia. Its a quaint town, full of little shops and harbors. Tonight though, something seems to be interrupting the peace.
Oh wait. That's you.
You are running along the cobblestone streets of the little town. Frantically you look behind you. Shoot! They are still behind me! Two yellow Chias in police uniforms are chasing you down the streets. They are blowing their whistles and calling after you. Wracking your brain to try and figure what you did wrong, you continue running down the street. Maybe buying a Pirate Paint Brush from the sketchy guy at the Trading Post for 99,000 nps wasn't such a good idea. . .
Trying to throw them off, you take a sharp turn around the next corner. You take deep breathes and pump your arms faster to try and get away. You turn your head back and forth scanning for your next move. You take a sharp left and quickly jump into a doorway, trying to make yourself flat against the wooden door. Luckily, the Chia Police run straight by you.
You close your eyes and breathe a sign of relief. You lean back, putting your whole weight on the door. As you do, the door swings open. You tumble head over heels, backward. . . Into a very dark room.
There was a Very Old Plushie . . .
Slowly, you get up and take a look around. Only the faint, white moonlight from the open door lets you see what your surroundings are. It looks like a very small room, square in its dimensions. There's a door to your right. In front of you, is a wooden staircase that goes up into the darkness.
A whistle blows somewhere in the distance. Panicking you try the door that you saw. Locked. Taking a quick glance over your shoulder you dash up the stairs into the darkness.
Up and up and up you go. There are no windows or doors, only a gas lamp here and there, providing just enough light so that you don't trip. Adrenalin rushing through your veins, you look back every few minutes, afraid someone is going to turn up behind you.
When it feels like you've been climbing for hours, and your legs are crying out for rest, you notice a change in the light up ahead. Instead of the flickering yellow light from the lamps, the light is a soft cream color--almost glowing. Slowing your climb, you cautiously move forward. When you finally reach the end of the stairs, you realize what the light is from.
Straight ahead of you is a giant, round, semi-transparent piece of glass. All around it are numbers in roman numerals--backward. You are in the city's clock tower. The white moonlight is streaming through the face of the clock, illuminating the whole room.
Looking at the clock, you realize its just minutes before midnight. You look around the space. There are tons of gears and mechanical devices (none of which you know the name of) that make the clock move. To the left, right, and behind you the walls are made of stone. In front of you the wall is open. The clock reaches much taller than you; the rest of the wall, traps the clock face in iron grids and stone circles.
As the second had ticks around the clock face, you notice something small on the floor. You step closer and squat down next to the plushie, but before you can get a closer look the clock strikes midnight.
. . . And on it went, twelve times; each reverberating in the very bones of your body.
Before you, the little Kau plushie starts to sparkle. You look down, amazed to see that the plushie is staring back at you!
Hullo there! the plushie says. Plushies can speak??
Fancy seeing you up here. I don't get many visitors. Why don't you stay a while? I'd love some company for the time I'm awake. . . Here, let me tell you a bit more about myself.

. . . And He had a Tale to tell. When he finishes introducing himself, you decide this is one little plushie that you particularly like. He looks to be mainly made out of a soft, brown velvet, with a floral pattern all over. His hooves and belly looked to be made of a nice, blue corduroy. A few patches covered him here and there in worn-out places. A dark brown ribbon hung around his neck, as well as a gold pocket watch. He was surely an expensive item back in the day.
I bet you are wondering how I can be walking and talking to you? You haven't seen many plushies like me, I bet? Let me tell you about how I became this way. First of all, I'm very, very, old. . .
Rhemes was once owned by a little girl. Her family was pretty well off, so her grandmother could afford such a nice item like Rhemes was. He was hand-sewn by the finest doll-maker in Neopia. One summer, the girl's family decided to go on an ocean liner to Mystery Island. Along the way, somehow poor Rhemes tumbled off the ship's deck. After tumbling in the ocean, he eventually washed up on a beach. An old man, who was taking his daily early-morning walk along the beach, found Rhemes wrapped in seaw.eed, looking very sorry indeed.
The old man actually was a Time Keeper for the Clock Tower in the small town near where Rhemes was found. The man took him to his workroom and decided to fix him up. He's the one that changed Rhemes to what he is today. As well as patching him up, he also transformed the interior of him: inside Rhemes are small robotics. They go all through out his body to make his joints move. He is still very plush to the touch though!
The old man was dying though.
One day, the man put his beloved pocket watch around Rhemes' neck and walked out the door. He went to the local hospital where they admitted him because of the severity of his symptoms and his old age. At the stroke midnight from his Clock Tower, the old man died.
Not having any family or friends, the Clock Tower was left untouched and the man remained a John Doe in the morgue.
Back at the clock tower, though, Rhemes sat in the man's workroom. As the large clock stroke midnight, so did the old man's pocket watch around Rhemes's neck. At the moment, Rhemes became alive. . .
I need some narration here
Ani has told me a little bit about Miss Isdari: she is a shy little Ixi, who's clan lives underground. They are the "Dwarf Ixi"--quite fascinating! Ani takes her my journals sometimes. She loves to read! Maybe one day Ani will bring her to my Clocktower when I am awake.
