-invalid_words- The Intro

In the smokey aftermath of a bar fight (which had ended with pistols pulled and fired; the living one exited the tavern after spitting on the other's dying body) a yellow-green eye shifted this way and that. He was half slumped behind the carved, bulky and stained wooden table. When the gun had fired, he didn't so much as flinch; like most pirates, the eyrie was used to it. Hell, his fur and feathers were stained a dull grey-blue from gunpowder. What was once a brilliant sky-blue was now looking shabby and dirty. His eyes were bloodshot, and his beak was cracked. Even his wings were missing; those very things which gave him superiority over most other land dwellers were gone. But the how's and why's...?
Aha! That's why you approched him in the first place, right? If you were sober, you'd have half a mind to avoid the guy... but regardless...

His story
So, you ask him what's the deal with his lack of wings, and he looks at you with a darkening brow. Instead of answering, he stares you down.
Okay... next question! How'd he get into pirating, anyway?
Still, he refuses to answer. After a few more questions and no answers, he gets up and leaves, stepping over the dead body on his way.
And then, a rough, but cheerful looking shoyru sailor (wings intact) sits down heavily beside you. He loudly (and rather drunkenly) inquires 'what you be want'n with ol' Dare?!' You tell him, and the information starts spilling out of his wet and sputtering mouth before you can stop him.
Are! I'll tell yeh what I've heard, I will. And I'd be will'n to bet that it's true, too!
You grab yourself another mug full of ale get ready for a long story. And then you noticed that the whole bar has become less roudy. It isn't every day one gets to hear first hand tales about infamous captains.
Aye, I remember him tell'n us. I'as with him when he was but a wee cabin boy, I was. How he came about to be'n thar with us. Ah, it was a fine night! I remember, I do. Th'stars were out... a fine breeze from th'east...!" Someone had thrown their pipe at him and cursed, telling him to hurry up. Then, there was a scramble and more cursing as the man got his pipe back.
As I'as say'n... His father was Colonal Robert de Dare of the Royal Navy, he was. Very strict man, from what I hear. Wife beater, child beater... you know the type. I bet half of y'all in here are the type!" There was a ripple of grunts and dark chuckles. "Any'ay. The man wouldn't let his son out 'o th'house, so I hear. So Dare said. He ran away, he did, and ended up on me ship as th'cabin boy. But he was an honest lad back then. Oh yes, he ran to a merchant ship. No break'n the law there, so to speak- if ya don' count the runn'n away. All was well for a time; he turned 14 on tha' boat. The Marie as I recall. She was a fine vessle... 140 feet long, had ten and eight hands..." He went off on another tangent until a kougra cuffed him on the back of his head and demanded that he keep to the point.
Fine," Shouted the shoyru, tugging his own beard in frustration. "On the seventeenth month abroad we was attacked," he shouted again, apparently angry that he was being kept to the Reikko Dare subject. "Feirce ones, they were. It was Happy Bart! Captain Barty, that is. They stole our goods and killed th'uns who didn't comply.
Well, you better believe I complied. So did little Dare; I made sure of that. Y'see, I'd taken a liki'n to the boy. I b'came sort of like a father," the shoyru said rather proudly. "Soo, we was on The Walrus for a while. I'll tell yeh; It was a walrus too. O'er 200 feet long- nearly eighty hands on it... Slow as a slug, but more po'erful than anything th'royal navy had." He quickly got back on track after seeing another sailor's threatening gaze.
Anyway, we were both on that ship for a number of years... 'till the Navy caught up with us. A few of us were spared hang'n; me'n th'boy included. We told'em that if we di'int join, they'da shot us. Tha was true, o'course. I went back to be'n a merchant... but he'd got the bug in'em.
So he went back to th'docks, from what I hear, an' got with some shady people. Onto a ship o' fortune again. An this's where my fact becomes th'stuff I've heard over th'years. Rumors, mostly. Donno if it's truth..." He took a swig of another man's mug and continued.
They say he stayed on Miss Maestra's ship for a time. Ha! She... She was a good pirate, she was. He prob'ly took after her. But after tha' I can't say much. Only tha' he lost his first wing to grape-shot. He'as up in the shrouds, as I heard it. A few of the bear'ns went righ' through th'bones in his wing, an' he told th' doc to go ahead an' cut the whole thing off, he did. Th'other one... well, I donno. Some rumors say he cut't off him self to be able to keep his balance. Someone else told me it was a shark..." The old man shrugged. "Don' matter, though, does it? He's still the infamous Dare, righ'?" At that, he took your mug and drank librally from it before putting it back down. "He's got loads of tresure, I tell ya. I seen him buy loads of things, I have. Naw, I know what yer think'n... But these things were th'types of things only royalty could get their hands on. Jewels, fine silks... Only tha best, I tell yeh. No man's ever looked him 'tween the eyes an' seen a better day after'ard! He's one tough snuff..." The old man laughed gruffly and answered a few remaining questions before stumbling away.

Basic Info
Name: Reikko de Dare
Pronunciation: Ree-ko deyh Da-rey
Age: 30-50
Height: 6'7
Status: Single; very hard to please

Personality

Reikko is very hard and ruthless. He has become his father, through and through. The pirate is violent and cruel; he would not hesitate to kill a man if he felt even remotly threatened. He is very rich, but does not like spending the money on things other than himself; he pays his crew fairly but will not give up a cent other than that. Reikko, or Captain Dare, does not have morals, or so it seems. He gets what he wants... whether it be an unwilling woman or a particular ship carrying spices and fine silks. He has hidden his fortune in a place only he can find. Much of the stuff is in banks where he is much liked; he gives hearty controbutions to the banks, trusting that those bribes will keep that portion of his wealth safe.
All in all, the pirate is what is to be expected. He is clever, cruel, and cunning.
