Introduction

Through the years, Mystery Island has been the most unpredictable team in the Altador Cup. We consistently have pulled out stunning triumphs over the best of them, have lost to the worst of them, and it's even been fabled that once in a while, we pull out the kind of results the predictors expect. What kind of team is this? This is madness.

No. This is Mystery Island.

Welcome to the AC VI, and the third year of this page's existence. The reason this page was created in the first place was to store all the creative ideas that the Natives had to keep themselves from being bored with YYB. After all, it gets boring. Lots of you should remember last year, the clan system, and that will be coming back, but different. At the time of this writing, it's uncertain if it will be hosted by myself (Jess) or Laurel.

Back to the boredom issue. This page was created to solve all that, so please read on. If you have an idea for something that is not on here, shoot me a neomail (dreamand_hope).

MIolympics

What?

The MIolympics (made into miolympics or whatever for ease of typin) can be done at any time, by any person. They are simply games played between two individuals for fun, with the main point being to encourage people to bring in a bunch of scores really quickly.

Games

Race: This is a pretty simple concept. You take any of the games, YYB, SS, MSN, or SHSH, decide on a set number to race to, and the first person to make that many points in that game wins. For example, in YYB, if you were racing to 100, over all the YYB games that someone plays after the race has started, once they have made 100 goals, they would post on the board saying that they were done, and if they were the first person to do, they would win.

High Jump: In this game, the competitors form an order in which to go in. The first person posts a score, and then the second, and then the third, and so on. If someone posts a lower score than the person before them, they are out. So, if the first person got 340 in SS, and then the second person got 333, the second person would be out. But, if the second person got 400, both the first and the second person would still be in. The last person standing wins. I'd suggest not doing this for YYB. Please make sure you are playing other games while waiting for your turn. That keeps the points coming in. I've never actually seen this done, so I'm drawing attention to it in blue.

Survivor

An old MIYP favorite, Survivor consists of multiple rounds, preferably increasingly difficult. Everyone gets a set amount of time to complete a task, and whoever doesn't make it in time is Pango'd, or kicked out of the game. A task consists of a single game with a target amount of points. These games last as long as people are still playing. A ref gives out the tasks and makes sure people post their scores on time. He or she should have a good grasp on how long it takes to get certain scores in the different games, but of course we won't restrict you if you don't. It just means that you'll probably have to extend the ending times of the rounds a bit.

MI Socks

Brief History: Some people have wondered at how this challenge got its name. If you're curious, do read on. It's not a very long story. You see, when these games were first created, this was called the Team vs. Team Challenge. As I was to learn, around this time, people had been dissing Viacom, by calling them The Viacom Team, instead of The Neopets Team. Instead of being called TNT, they, of course, had a V in the middle. Well, so does Team vs. Team, when you shorten it. So the staff had this acronym filtered, and it turned into "my socks." When I posted, everyone else saw that I wanted the boards titled with "my socks" rather than "team vs. team." Naturally, somebody spoke up (Brittany, I think?) and asked if it shouldn't be MI socks. And thus, the name.

The Challenge: Just as the original name would have implied, MI Socks is a team challenge. You do not have to be in your clans for this. Split yourselves up evenly, however you want to do it, and do it quickly. Team names can be anything, but three common ones are Bertie, Vela, and Teylor. Call out a name and you're in it.

What makes this unique is that there will be separate boards for the teams. When making these boards, make sure to include "MI Socks," and your team name in the title, as well as whatever code-word somebody decides to include when they give you the challenge (the person giving the challenge can be absolutely anyone). Please don't make your board titles too obnoxious, as the rest of the teams aren't incredibly fond of us when we do this.

The challenge will include a goal for YYB, SS, MSN, and SHSH that the team should work together to meet. Make sure that when you're doing this, you don't post the same score on the main board as you do on your team board. We don't want to double-count points. The first team to complete their goal and report the scores to the main board wins the challenge.

PPP Boards

I honestly have no idea who first started these, for they have been around for almost as long as I can remember. So what is it? A PPP Board is a specialized board, where people go and play on the game the board was made for, and attempt to reach a certain number of points for each page. There isn't much, if any, chatting going on here, and it seriously racks up the points. I sincerely recommend these boards.

I'll probably add more. Also, please please PLEASE pitch me ideas about what to do. I'll credit you for them, don't worry ;) If you have one, just neomail me (dreamand_hope) and I'll probably ask a lot of questions, but we'll get it down! Also, I know that the blue is really obnoxious on this color scheme, but it's really the only thing that stands out.

The Tribes

The tribes are completely separate from the MIolympics. Completely. No more organized Tribal Competitions. Instead, the tribes are getting a make-over, and while the premise of each tribe remains the same, what we plan to do with them is completely different. I think you'll find it a pleasant surprise.

Graphics

Here are rewards for a bunch of things! MIolympic ribbons and Pango consolation credits go to Laurel (laurel146). I'm sorry, but I lost all the other graphics while fixing this page over the months, so if you're a graphic maker, I would be indebted to you if you would make some graphics!

MIolympics

From left to right, 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place.
These ribbons are only to be handed out if the race or high jump has five or more people in it.

Survivor

Survivor Consolation Prize
What's really embarrassing is that I've lost the lei, which is the prize for actually winning this game. A replacement lei is needed ASAP.
