It is night time. There are two beautiful faerie lupes looking at each other. One looks angry, the other sad. He is the angry one. They are on the cliff that they have lived on for years. He begins to yell.
"WHY CANT YOU ACCEPT WHO I AM?" he yelled.
Because this isn't who you are" she cried back.
Ember I'm doing this for us! Why can't you see that?" He begged.
This isn't the way it should be! Ray listen to me we can run away together and leave him and his gems behind! You don't need to be a monster" she tried to convince him.
This is who I am Ember!" He growls at her. "I THOUGHT YOU OF ALL PEOPLE WOULD UNDERSTAND!
Ray please don't leave with him.
Come with me!
No Ray! I can't do it. It's just not right." Silent tears are streaming down her face. "Ray I love you and you know that! I love you with every inch of my being but I don't love who you become with those power gems on you! Its not the Ray I fell in love with.
He could feel his power intensifying. "So that's it? You wont come with me? Ember I love you and I need you! You have to come with me! We will make it work! I promise!
She took a deep breath and looked him straight in the face. "No" Sobbing she turned to walk away. Then Ray snapped. His anger took over and the gem took control. His eyes started glowing blue and he winced in pain as the power took over. He bared his teeth in a menacing grin. Blue flames blast from all four paws. He crouched and lunged into the air, flying down right in front of Ember and growled right in her face. She knew this wasn't Ray and she feared for her life so she took off in the opposite direction. "Ray, don't do this! I love you!" She sobbed.
I loved you too until you betrayed me!" He lunged at her and tackled her to the ground so she was on her back and he was standing above her looking down. He growled.
Loved?" She said shocked.
Yes. If you can't support me how can I love you." Tears started filling Embers eyes. Ray growled again. "I did this for us! So we could be safe and raise a family. So I could protect you and you don't even care!"
No Ray you're the one that doesn't care!" Her eyes narrowed, still filled with tears.
Ray growled. "HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT! OH YOU WILL PAY!" He put his paw down on her throat and blue flames engulfed the paw. "You will pay." He pushed his paw down onto her throat. She started to struggle.
Ray…don't… I love you" she struggled to say.
I hate you" he growled. Just then Embers eyes widened and she stopped struggling.
I love you" she struggled to say and then she died. Ray was looking down at her while she died. He saw the bright blue fade from her eyes. He saw her eyes die. It was like her soul had escaped through her eyes. He was standing there with a empty shell beneath his paw. His smile straightened out. The flames ceased flaming. His eyes returned to their normal piercing blue. He removed his paw and his eyes widened. He started to tremble and tears filled his eyes.
Ember?" He said shaking. "Ember…NO!" He was still trembling. "What have I done? No! Ember….Oh god! Ember I'm so sorry. He bent down and took Ember in his arms and started to sob into her fur. "Baby….NO! What am I? I-I-I'm a monster!" He placed her down still sobbing. He stands up in a whirl of sadness and self hatred. He turns and standing there is the mutant grundo Joul.
She deserved it Ray. She said you didn't care." Joul smiled a evil smile. "So you now know the full power of that gem I implanted in your neck."
I killed her!" He said through clenched teeth. "The only one I've ever loved and I destroyed her. The only one that ever loved me and she's gone forever because of me. She was the only thing worth living for." He thought for a moment. "I won't live without her." He said through clenched teeth and he look over at the cliffs edge.
To bad that gem makes you immortal" Joul said while smirking.
I DON'T WANT THIS STUPID GEM!" He screamed while trembling. Ray then grabbed the gem that was sticking out of his neck and ripped it out of his flesh while letting out a low painful growl. He looked at the gem, there was flesh coming out of the gem. He winced and looked at Joul waiting for an explanation as to why his flesh was inside the gem.
Ray when I put that gem in your neck it became a living part of you, if you had been destroyed it would have been destroyed. Good thing you are immortal so the gem could survive. Well anyway, the essence of that gem runs through all the veins in your body. So basically the effects and power will NEVER go away. You will always be powerful." Joul paused and then smirked a mocking smirk. "And you will ALWAYS be immortal."
NO!" Ray burst out in anger. "There has to be a way! IM A MONSTER!" Ray starts sobbing as he looks down at Embers empty shell. "I killed her!" He started to get frantic as the pain took over, tearing inside of him. "NO!" All in one rush of movement Ray ran over to the edge of the cliff, crouched, then leaped into the air and took off across the night sky. He kept going, leaving his heart back on the cliff.

He sits there and tries to lock that memory away for good. He always gets worse when he remembers that might. Its been 2 years since it happened and he has spent every second in the shadows, full of self hatred. He lives life as a loner and hasn't spoken a word to anyone since it happened. Such a beautiful, broken creature.
A cool breeze blows through his beautiful silky fur. He looks up above him at the night sky and shuts his eyes. He listens to the sounds of the night and breathes in the fresh night air. He gets up and walks over to the edge of the cliff and lies down with his front paws hanging off the edge of the cliff. He rests his head on the cold stone of the cliff. He inhales deeply, tasting the night air. He shuts his eyes and drifts into a deep, unforgiving sleep.

Petpet
Ray soared across the clear night sky. He came to his favorite cliff and landed on its edge. Ray walked to his favorite spot and laid down. He looked to the stars with a longing in his eyes. He put his head down on the hard rock surface of the cliff and shut his eyes. The memories of that night started coming back to him. He covered his face with his paw and tried to drown the memories out. The sound and visions started to slowly fade and Ray started drifting asleep.
Just as he was about to lose all consciousness his acute hearing picked up a noise. It was the sound of a rock accidentally being kicked and then clashing against the rocky ground. His eyes immediately opened wide and he listened more closely. Nothing. His eyes became less wide and alert. The tension in his shoulders lessened. It was probably the wind he thought to himself. He started to drift into sleep mode again but this time without fighting back agonizing memories. That's when he heard it again except this time it was closer. His eyes flew open and the fur on his back rose. He knew something was out there. This was not just the wind.
A low growl started in his throat. He flew to his feet and put his back to the edge of the cliff so he was facing the bushes that are on the cliff. He tried to talk but no words came out. Crap he thought. I forgot how to talk! He searched and searched for his voice but every time he went to talk nothing came out. He felt eyes watching him. He knew there was something out there. His eyes scanned the darkness surrounding him. The he heard it, it was the sound of something is pain. Not physical pain, but an emotional pain. But there was also fear in the noise, almost like a squeak or a yelp.
Then he saw something in the bushes move. He growled and his head got real low. The creature stopped dead in its tracks and turned to look towards Ray. That's when it happened. Ray looked at the creature and pounced towards him ready to kill. He didn't care if it was small, it needed to be eliminated. Right before he hit it with his now flaming paw, he stopped and looked at the creature.
The creature had turned its head to the side waiting for the impact and it was shaking. Ray looked down at the helpless creature. Then something happened Ray never expected. The creature turned and they made eye contact and Ray saw the look in that creatures eyes and it was the same look that is in his own. Not only that, but at that very moment Ray could feel everything that creature was feeling. The feeling and the hurt flowed through both of them. One knew what the other was feeling and visa versa.
Rays flames went out and he kept looking at the creature. I think that's a ukali, Ray thought.
Then the ukali took off into the bushes. Ray didn't want to lose him so he ran after him. When Ray caught up with him his eyes widened in horror. The ukali had tears in its eyes and it was standing over another ukali, except this ukali was dead. The ukali looked up at Ray with tears in it eyes and then it put its head down and walked over to Ray. Ray looked down at the little creature. The ukali looked up at him and then without warning hugged Rays leg.
Rays eyes widened. He had not been hugged in so long. It was so weird and it almost hurt him to have anyone this close to him. He panicked for a second but then looked down at the ukali and lowered his head and put his head so it was pinning the ukali to his leg. This was his best attempt at hugging the ukali. Then the ukali looked up at Ray and they made contact again and without saying a word they knew they were sticking together.
Ray then looked to the sky then back at the ukali and flew into the air back towards his favorite speaking spot. Without a sound the ukali knew to follow him. He looked at the other ukali and a tear rolled down his cheek and then he flew up into the air and followed Ray. They both got back to the cliff side and landed. Then Ray walked over to the edge of the cliff and laid down. He put his head down on the rocky cliff. The ukali walked over and put his head on rays arm and fell asleep. Ray looked at the ukali, smiled, and then shut his eyes and fell asleep.
