GUIDE

In their adventures across the planet of Kreludor, Gorix and Cylara uncover a mysterious door covered with symbols. They don't know what is inside, it could be treasure, or more importantly - clues that will help them find the secret of Kreludor and defeat the evil Dr. Sloth.

Vocabulary

…..- Slate:
…..- Stone:
…..- Mark(s):

To play Time Tunnel you have to work out what secret code of four coloured stones unlocks a slate. Each stone can be any of the 4, 5 or 6 coloured stones depending on the lock you are at. To open the door, you must unlock 12 slates. You have 12 tries to unlock each slate. You have 2 minutes (120 seconds) to unlock each slate.

Click on each stone on a slate to change its colour, then press UNLOCK to submit your guess. The door will tell you how close your guess was to the correct answer. Each green mark means that a stone is in the correct position and of the correct colour. An orange mark means that a stone is the correct colour but in the wrong position. A white coloured mark means that there is an incorrect stone.

…..=4 wrong stones
…..=2 right stones in the right position and 2 wrong stones
…..=2 right stones in the right position, 1 right stone in the incorrect position, 1 wrong stone

You get 25 points for unlocking a slate. The remaining time bonus is then added to your score. When you have unlocked the door, you will be awarded a 200 points bonus.

There are no possibilities to take a break during playing. So once you start a game, make sure you have at least 10 minutes to devote to 1 play. (It can be much lower depending on how fast you find each secret codes.)

Stones possibilities per slate:

…..Slates 1 to 5: 4 possibilities of stones
…..Slates 6 to 9: 5 possibilities of stones
…..Slate 10 to 12: 6 possibilities of stones

Understanding the marks:

It is best to always submit a clean slate first as it doesn't require any clicking. If you get a mark like this: it means that there are two stones that are white. Question is, which ones? Your next move should be to add two black stones. If the marks stays it means that the two whites are in the right position. You now need to find what colour are the two first stones and we know it's not black. Your next guess should be to change both blacks into blues: If your mark doesn't change, then try changing the blues for another colour and so on. However, if your mark is it means there is a blue stone. Question is which one? Your next move is to swap one of the blue stones for another colour you haven't used yet. If you get it means your blue is in the wrong position, so put it in the other slot and make the other stone a colour you haven't used yet. If you get two orange marks and two green ones, just swap the red and blue! As you can see Time Tunnel is part luck, part deduction, part trial and error.

Tips and tricks:

- When the wheel grabs a slate, hit the unlock button so that the door verifies your first combination (aka all white) when zero is listed under "time bonus" and before the 120 seconds appear. That will save you up to one second!

- Remember the number of mouse clicks it takes to change a stone for each color as this will help you save time.
…..=: no clicks
…..=: 1 click
…..=: 2 clicks
…..=: 3 clicks
…..=: 4 clicks
…..=: 5 clicks

- Don't aim for the middle of the UNLOCK button as it is too far away! Aim for somewhere along the red line drawn below:

- Be organized! I always start with a clean slate. Then, make my changes from left to right.

- Use the time the wheel verifies a combination or grabs a new slate to think! Look at what combinations you have done so far, what marks you received, what you haven't tried yet.

Trophies:

You can win one of three trophies by playing Time Tunnel. To get one, you must score over 1,850 points (minimum required score can fluctuate). This means solving every slate in less than 8 seconds! You can check the Time Tunnel hi-score page HERE.

Better Than You Trophy:

Time Tunnel was the game to play to get a Better Than You trophy starting June 1, 2006. To get it, one must achieve over 1,800 points. To do this, you had to solve every puzzle in less than 11 seconds (meaning the bonus time had to be 109 or higher). So if you solved a slate in less than 11 seconds, you could use those "saved seconds" to take a little bit longer for another slate. The game was again featured in "Better Than You" at the end of July 2007.
