If you're tired of the fancy, overtexturized, over-font-effects, over-whatever, then you've come to the right place. Here, we offer a text-free, clean alternative to the average Neopian icon and banner. This site was officially created by your lovely host Fa on January 18, 2011. February 20, 2012 - Okay.
So I'm not totally dead. I almost was. I'll just give a very, very brief explanation for my absence: I was lazy. I would keep thinking about logging in and saying, "Hey, I'm alive!" but I never got around to it until now. It doesn't really look like I'll be updating regularly either, since my icon-making activity has been relatively irregular this entire time.So I removed all of my affiliates - I won't really be doing affiliates anymore since I'm more or less certain that I won't be regularly updating this site. I will eventually put up a list of awesome sites there in its place. If we used to be cool or pals, then you can still neomail me and I'll put your site up there.
I have made a lot of icons, and here they are: CODE GEASS, ZELDA (spoilers for Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask), MISC. ANIME, and REAL PEOPLE. Yes, real people.

My Mission
If you've checked out my portfolio, you can probably already tell that my icons are a little... different. I don't use templates. I don't use a lot of textures. I don't use text or borders. My cropping is weird. I don't animate anything. Nothing is pink and sparkly.I'm personally not fond of the icons I generally see flying around on Neopets. I don't like icons that are pink and sparkly, have oversized text, fancy templates, or anything like that.
What I want to do is create a clean, stylish icon that's obviously altered to be more appealing, but not so overdone that you can barely tell what the subject was. I find it annoying when someone has slapped on so many sparkly textures that you can barely see the subject -- or worse yet, when the picture is unrecognizable. Why make an icon whose subject is unidentifiable?
I want my icons to express emotion without text. I don't think text is necessary for icons. If anything, I think it blocks the image. My goal is to create icons that can express beauty or emotion through the use of color, textures, and cropping.
Not everyone is into the sparkles, the fancy text, the templates, the flashy animations, the overabundant textures. For these people, and for any other interested parties, I created Psychochromia to provide a guaranteed alternative. It may not be for everyone, but for those who do appreciate the icons, I hope it's worth it.

FAQ
Nobody really asks these, but they act as a guide of what not to ask me. I've already answered it.Q: Can I add text to your icons/banners?
A: You may not, unless you ask for my permission. My mail is always open for requests to edit my stuff. So don't be shy about mailing me.
Q: I think you should make icons like...
A: No. I will not change my style for you. That might sound harsh, but I won't.
Q: Where do you get your images?
A: Various search engines. Specific names will be available upon request.
Q: Will you ever take manga coloring requests?
A: No. It simply takes up too much of my time. Sorry, but that's the way it is. Please do not request that I color you anything.
Q: Do you make icon coloring tutorials? OR Can you teach me how to make icons like you?
A: I don't specifically tell people how I make my icons. Cropping and coloring is something I think you should develop on your own. However, I do run a guide site called Tips for Better Icons. Hopefully that will help.
Q: Will you make me a birthday banner?
A: If you're a complete stranger, no. I really only make them for my affiliates.
Q: What does "psychochromia" mean?
A: Technically, it means nothing. But if you're a big Latin geek (and I mean that in the most endearing way possible, since I'm terrible at Latin) like Shingie, then it roughly translates into "[the] state of the mind while it's colored" or "[a] colored state of the mind." Something like that. I said I failed at Latin, didn't I?
Q: Hey, will you do a shout-out for my site?
A: Sorry, but I won't. I'll promote your site if I feel it is necessary to do so. I'll usually link to sites that make me a button/gift/whatever or who affiliate with me. Otherwise, I don't randomly do shout-outs.

Manga Coloring for Beginners is a guide I created in the hopes of improving the quality of colored manga graphics on Neo AND to provide a decent guide for any newbies and aspiring colorists. I couldn't find any guides on Neo that were specifically aimed at manga coloring. (There were art guides that gave similar pointers, but I figured that most non-artists wouldn't bother to check out an art-intensive guide.) So I decided to start my own guide.
If you're interested, be warned that the site is not dial-up friendly and it is also really, really, REALLY long and pretty in-depth. But, if you can persevere and read through my long explanations, I hope it will help you.
Tips for Better Icons is a quasi-tutorial site that I created just to help people -- which, in my dictionary, means no affiliates and no web counters. If you're an aspiring iconist, you might want to check it out. It doesn't offer coloring or cropping tutorials (those should be entirely dependent on your own skills), but it does offer pointers on things you should be wary of as well as little tricks to help you.

Here are some of my manga colorings, which you may use and/or stare at. I do all of my coloring with a mouse on Photoshop CS2.
