Become A Petpet Peddler!

1. Follow all Neopets rules. You can find them HERE.

This should be fairly self-explanatory, but just in case it's not...
The Neopets rules exist because TNT owns the site, and therefore can create
and rightfully enforce any rules they choose. Due to the high traffic of the
Petpet Peddler threads, the monitors tend to lurk in order to make sure that we
and those chatting with us are not setting a bad example. Following the Neopets rules
not only makes chatting more fun, but keeps everyone's accounts that much safer.

2. This is a drama and flame-free zone.
Please be respectful of everyone and remain friendly.

Nobody likes to be called names, yelled at, talked down to, flamed, or talked about
behind their backs. Don't do it. "Flame-baiting", or the practice of being subtly rude,
demeaning, or insulting on purpose in order to provoke a user into posting something
reportable, is also unacceptable. If you have a problem with another chatter, please address
it with that person directly via neomail, or contact any member of Team Altachuck for
assistance, also via neomail. Posts on the thread are to remain polite and friendly at all times.

3. No Spamming - feel free to post your ad ONCE.

Every online community develops its own unwritten laws concerning 'nettiquette.
On Neopets, "spamming" is generally defined as
1) posting rude, offensive, or random gibberish
2) repeated posts consisting of nothing but smilies, or
3) repeatedly posting your shop ad on a thread you did not create.
This and similar behaviour will result in the spam posts being reported as such.

4. Please do not beg to be added, or beg to be lent. No begging of any sort.

Being added to a team.
Constantly being asked about something makes most people not want to do it.
Asking "When will I be added to a Peddlers Team?" will generally result in us saying,
Not for awhile, please be patient." Ask repeatedly, and the response becomes, "Never."

Borrowing neopoints or items.
This is another one of those community consensus rules.
On Neopets, Begging = Cheating/Scamming to get items or neopoints. Why, you ask?
Because the vast majority of Neopians work very hard for their neopoints, playing games,
restocking their shops, and working the Trading Post and Auction House. It is entirely
possible to earn massive fortunes honestly and without begging. Consequently, begging
behaviour will *always* annoy people, and will typically get the offender reported for
Scamming/Cheating.

5. If someone else is breaking the rules, repost the rules, and then ignore them.

It doesn't matter what behaviour the person is engages in. Whether it's flaming, spamming,
begging, etc., your only response should be to repost Post #3 (the rules post for the board).
If they ignore you, and continue to misbehave, you must simply IGNORE the person on the
board. If the situation warrants it, feel free to neomail a member of Team Altachuck
and/or report (silently!) the person through the report form.
Taking matters into your own hands on the boards
is grounds for demotion of team status,
or even revoking your status as a Petpet Peddler.

6. Please try to stay on topic!

While we all like to share our exciting news & catch each other up with our lives,
please remember that we are on the Shop Ads forum.
Because of this, multipage discussions of non-neopets topics,
or neopets topics for which there is a separate forum,
should be taken either to the appropriate forum or into neomail,
as they can drive away serious buyers and sellers that we want to attract.

7. Stay Stocked and Available to Stock

Members of the Petpet Peddler Teams are, logically enough, required to stock
petpets at all times. This can be anything from a store dedicated specifically to petpets,
to a handful of altachucks and tennas. Obviously, there are millions of perfectly
legitimate real-life reasons for a person to be busy. If you know you're going to be
unavailable, it's no problem, simply send a neomail to Arden (cinderellie7) letting her know
that you will be gone, and you're covered. If you have not given advance notice of your
absence, and Team Altachuck sees that your shop has been out of petpets for 5 days,
you will receive a neomail from petpet_peddlers, reminding you of the requirement.
At that point you have 5 additional days to either stock a handful of petpets, or to
contact petpet_peddlers with an explanation of why you are too busy. Either response
is fine. If no response is received by the end of those 5 days, your Team status will
be demoted. Repeated occurrences or extreme extended absence may result
in your Team status being revoked entirely.

8. Once you are added to a Petpet Peddler Team, you must continue to follow
all the above rules and guidelines, for as long as you choose to be a Team member.

If a Team member stops chatting on the boards without prior notice to Team
Altachuck, or fails in any respect to follow the Neopets and Petpet Peddler Rules,
he or she may be demoted to a lower Team or removed from the directory entirely,
at the discretion of Team Altachuck. Again you ask why? Because The Petpet Peddler
chat threads are a source of free advertising that works. It is unfair for a person who
gives a bad impression by breaking the rules, or who does not support the other
Team members' advertisement by chatting, to continue receiving the benefit of
the free advertisement, and so such users can and will be removed.
