The Krawk Hunter -blocked-Fungus Caves... We still have yet to figure out what in these caves' mysterious fungus triggers such a dramatic evolution from petpet to pet. Amazing!

Now, items such as Krawk Transmogrification Potions and Morphing Potions can further the development of this ever-so-underappreciated little crocodilian... We can only hope that, in years to come, this bugger'll crawl it's way up to the top!

"Did you know that the Krawk's mane was originally designed as a series of long scales?"

Contrary to popular opinion, many neopets' designs do indeed go through several versions before being approved and finalized... Rarely does the first sketch become the final product!

The Krawk is a good example of this. I began working on the Krawk in summer of 2001, when Adam simply requested that I draw up a 'crocodile pet' of some sort. I drew up several designs and, though I even finished off one of them, they never looked quite right. By the time I was ready to head back to school, all I had come up with were these:

...Eew.

But none of them quite settled with me; I knew I'd be back to work on the designs again in the winter. And thankfully, I was! It was in my coworker's pile o' classic animation art that I found my inspiration, and ended up settling on a mane-less Krawk design- he slowly grew hair as we decided it looked a touch too much like your average croc. And so, the Krawk was born!!

"Did you know that the Krawk's closest relative is the Nile Crocodile?"

To the left you can see two of the Krawk designs which have been scrapped for various reasons before making their debut on the site- namely, the Lost Desert Krawk and the Baby Krawk. Oddly (and luckily!) enough, the Desert Krawk did eventually make it- though through a different venue than what was expected. You can now use him as a shopkeeper under the Mysterious Desert Krawk option, which is always fun!

Both had their legit reasons for being 'rejected,' though neither really was rejected... In a matter of speaking, anyway :)

"Did you know that one joke concept drawing of the Krawk included a lobster claw for a head?"

Of course I can- and, well, I did! Feel free to use any of these on your website, blog, shop or lookup... Just make sure you send the credit my way, and don't direct link! My hosting abilities can only go so far ;)

Woo, little icons of your Krawk- now you too can be the height of cool!
