Well guest my name is Patches, and you're very welcome to my page, I bet you're wondering what it's all about right?
Well it has a little information about me and my family, but mostly it is about my favorite species of Petpet - the Meepit.

You see I find that Meepits are very misunderstood in Neopia; most people are terrified of them and some even say that they are the most evil creatures ever to exist. Of course TNT doesn't help matters by blaming them for every glitch and malfunction either.
However I hope to convince you of the truth; Meepits are NOT evil monsters, they just want to be our friends (and maybe eat the odd chocolate cookie).

On this page you will learn all about Meepits; where they live, what they like doing, how many different kinds there are and more. You will also learn how to sketch a Meepit so you can make your own special kind and have the option of taking some of mine home with you.

MEEPITS OF THE RAINBOW
Finally we have a complete list of the different kinds of Meepits you can befriend. Each of them have their own unique habits and traits you know, so make sure to read up on them before attempting to make contact, as some can be quite shy when approached the wrong way.

Basics

Your basic Meepit is a very simple looking creature; possessing small paws and feet, large noses, sensitive ears, big front teeth and a fuzzy tail. They are relatively short in stature and also have very large eyes. The most basic breed of Meepit is pink in color, however Meepits with Blue, Yellow, Green and Red coloration have also been discovered.
Meepits can be found in every region of Neopia and are very sociable creatures, they also have a highly developed language and often converse with each other in high-pitched squeaks. Most Meepits are easy to befriend, being quite docile and inquisitive, and will often approach other Neopians if offered a cookie or two.

First discovered 30 August 2001.
A point of curiosity is that the Red variety of Meepit was not discovered until 13 February 2004, while there are many theories surrounding this fact many experts believe the Meepits of that generation had a desire to participate in Valentines day with their fellow Neopians, resulting in the Red coloration.

Christmas
The most festive of Meepits and also the most sociable, the Christmas Meepits generally prefer a colder climate than that of their various cousins. Physically this breed of Meepit is almost identical to the basic variety, however because of the habitat they choose to inhabit they wear thick clothes and hats. Christmas Meepits also have highly developed voices and are able to produce a wide range of notes and tones. It has been hypothesized that this ability stemmed from a desire to join in with their fellow Neopians during the Christmas festivities.

Starry
The Starry Meepit is a very shy creature; only appearing at night and rarely in populated areas. Because of their nocturnal lifestyle they posses exceptional hearing and can hear each other's calls from a great distance.
It is very hard to obtain their trust but once tamed they are very affectionate creatures. They mainly live in tall trees and avoid the general public, but one will venture near if offered a large piece of mint-flavored chocolate.

First discovered 12 October 2005.

How to draw

So you want to draw your own Meepit guest? Well you've come to the right place.
Meepits are really easy and fun to draw, so even artistically challenged people can create their own.

I'm going to use a drawing of Snugles holding one of his favorite cookies for this tutorial.

You can drag the steps to the address bar to see them full size.

	Step 1 - First we draw a simple circle for his head and add some curved lines for his ears. As you can see Snugles has very large ears compared to his head, most Meepits have smaller ones though.
	Step 2 - We then add an oval like shape for his body. I sometimes find it tricky to make this look right, so don't be afraid to re-do it if you don't like the first try.
	Step 3 - Next we have his feet to draw. Again Snugles has very large feet, it makes him look cute though. I erased the part of the body behind the feet so I wouldn't get confused later.
	Step 4 - Now we add his hands and face. Because Snugles is holding his cookie I drew that first and then sketched his hands around it, he's also carrying his cookie on his feet so part of it behind the feet gets erased. I also gave him a little smile since he has his cookie to nibble on. Make sure to erase any part of your picture behind something else.
	Step 5 - This is where we put in any extra details like the lines on his ears and any design your Meepit may have. I also took a chunk out of his cookie and added chocolate chips. Snugles has a lot of detail (including stitches) so this makes him look very complicated at this point. Make sure to erase any extra lines you have.
	Step 6 - Color time! This is the fun part for me, as Snugles is very colorful. You can choose any color you want for your Meepit, be creative. After you have your picture all colored in you can add some shading to make them look more 3D.

Congratulations guest, you're all done, you now have your very own Meepit to cuddle and play with.
Those with more artistic tendencies will draw much better than me of course.

One last thing; if you happen to draw your Meepit facing away from you or to the side remember they have a fluffy tail which you'll have to draw too.
