Lutari Talisman Guide

Intro

I decided to make this guide to the Lutari Talisman because the other guides I've seen either have incorrect information about what the beads do, or very little information about what the beads do. I began discovering what the beads really do after I started buying beads one by one and putting them on my talisman.

This guide is just for the Lutari Talisman, not for Lutari Mobile. If you want to sign up for Lutari Mobile, you can use my referral link by clicking the button below.

Clicking the button also takes you to the official Neopets section about Lutari Island, if you'd like to learn more about it. You don't have to sign up if you click it; you can just look around and read what Neopets has to say about Lutari Mobile.

Beads Info

The Lutari beads come in four colors: red, yellow, blue, and green. Each color of bead comes in five different types: Oranu, Urapa, Tongi, Ranaka, and Matu. Each of the 5 types of beads has its own unique shape.

When you sign up for Lutari Mobile after being referred, you get a bead. You also get a bead for every person you refer who successfully signs up. You do not have to have Lutari Mobile in order to refer others to it and get the rewards. The first four beads you get from referrals will be the four different colors of Tongi beads. Tongi beads can ONLY be gotten by signing up for Lutari Mobile or referring someone else to Lutari Mobile. Tongi beads are not sellable or tradable and will go directly onto your talisman.

You can buy the other types of beads through the trading post. You can also very rarely find a bead in a random event. The beads are often really inflated on the trading post, so try to shop around a while and find a good deal. A lot of people sell entire sets of beads, but it seems to me that it's cheaper to buy each bead individually.

Talisman Info

In order for your beads to take effect, you must put them on your Lutari Talisman. When you click on a bead in your inventory, there will be an option to put it on your talisman. Once you put a bead on your talisman, you can NOT remove it.

Your talisman can be found on your user lookup under the section for site feature trophies. Clicking on your talisman gives you a close up view of it and allows you to see which beads you have. Note that you cannot see another user's talisman; if you click on the talisman on another user's lookup, it will just take you to your own talisman.

Previously, when you put the beads on your talisman, they changed shape. This was apparently a glitch that is now fixed, because when I put my beads on my talisman, they all stayed the same shape. So it should now be easier to know which beads you already have simply by looking at your talisman.

The above is how my talisman looks, with the different beads on it labeled.

Beads' Effects

Putting beads on your talisman can give you increases in the Neopoints you get from games, and can also give you discounts when buying items in the main shops. You'll know when this happens, because a message will actually come up saying that your talisman has increased your NP or given you a discount. It is also theorized that putting beads on your talisman gives you extra random events.

It seems that each color of bead does something different. A lot of people seem to be just guessing about what the beads do based on their item description. The official description for the green beads says they bring you luck; for blue it says diplomacy; for red it says strength; and for yellow it says speed.

The first bead I put on my talisman was a Green Oranu Bead, and I immediately started getting increases in the NP I got from games. I've asked around on the neoboards and other people confirmed that they also got NP increases while having only green beads on their talismans. People who had no green beads did not get NP increases. Therefore, the green beads must be the ones that increase your NP from games.

The more green beads you have, the larger the amount of your NP increase. With only one green bead, you'll get a 10% increase- meaning that if you get 1000 NP on a game, it will be raised to 1100. Two green beads consistently gave me a 25% increase- 1000 NP turns into 1250 NP. As soon as I added a third green bead, I started getting a 50% increase- 1000 NP increases to 1500. When I added my 4th green bead, I started getting 75% increases- 1000 NP turns into 1750 NP. People with all 5 beads report that their NP doubles- 1000 NP turns into 2000 NP.

The above screenie is an example of my talisman taking effect. I get increases in the NP I win from games several times a day.

As shown above, it is possible for the Lutari Talisman and the Space Faerie Charm to work together. The Space Faerie charm can first double your NP, and then the talisman can increase that amount further. The Space Faerie Charm is obtained by being a Premium Neopets member and referring others to the service.

The only color of bead I do not have is red. Red beads must be for shop discounts, because I have never gotten a shop discount. After adding several green, yellow and blue beads, I restocked about 50 items for the purpose of testing whether or not I got a discount, and I never did. Others who DO have red beads on their talismans have reported that they do get discounts.

I've asked that people with red beads report to me on their effects. It seems that the red beads work on the same principle as the green beads- i.e., the more red beads you have, the larger the percentage of your discount. According to chikara_flame, 1 red bead gives a 2% discount, and 2 red beads give a 4% discount. People report that 3 red beads give a 6% discount, 4 red beads give an 8% discount, and 5 red beads give a 10% discount.

I couldn't tell you for sure what the blue and yellow beads do, but here are some ideas: since the green and red beads increase the AMOUNT of your NP increases and discounts, it's possible that the blue and/or yellow beads increase the FREQUENCY of your NP increases and discounts. Adding more blue or yellow beads may cause you to get increases and discounts more often.

It is also very possible that the beads increase random events. I have definitely noticed an increase in random events since I started adding beads to my talisman. I used to only get a random event about once a week, but now I get one or two a day- more if I'm playing a game that requires a lot of refreshing, like Pyramids or Cliffhanger.

After putting several beads on my talisman, I finally got the Edna avatar, which I'd been trying to get for a long time, and I also finally got the Snowager avatar, which I'd been trying for once or twice a day for years. I also found a battledome opponent that I'd been trying to get. In addition, I've found codestones and pieces of the petpet lab map, as well as gotten a lot of those useless random events that don't actually do anything. I can't say for sure that these random events were caused by my talisman, but I do know I wasn't getting anywhere near this amount of random events before I started adding beads to my talisman.

Here are some examples of random events I've gotten since I started putting beads on my talisman.

Completing your talisman does NOT give you any kind of bonus or prize. Whether it is worth it to complete your talisman really depends on whether you do a lot of restocking or playing games, and how much you value the possibility of increasing your random events.

I'm looking for more information about the Lutari Beads, especially relating to the red beads and shop discounts. If you have the beads yourself, and can provide data about their effects, you can click here to Neomail me.
