Originally a student of Sarutobi ( whom later become the Sandaime Hokage ) and part of a three man team containing himself, Jiraiya, and Tsunade. He was considered the most talanted of the three team members and it was Sarutobi who had set high hoped for him, often berating Jiraiya, telling him he should be more like Orochimaru, he had hoped that on  e day Orochimaru would succeed him.

on  e of Orochimaru's ambitions could have indeed been becoming Hokage, but his eyes were set upon goals completely alien to the ideals traditionally associated with the said title; A Shinobi's true strength would manifest when protecting something or someone important to them, the role of Hokage being to love and protect all people of the village as if they were family. Orochimaru, however, thought of it as nothing more then potential conquest to power and glory, which interested him more then anything else.

Sakon
One of the Sound Four ( 音隠れの忍四人衆 ) working under Orochimaru, twisted and possessing great power and speed, Sakon tends to enjoy bad-mouthing the opposition. At first glance on e might notice a second head hanging from his back; the elder brother of the two Ukon. Their bloodline limit allows Ukon to merge their bodies together. Sakon is generally on  e of the stronger of Orochimaru's lackeys within the Sound Four.

Tayuya
on  e of the Sound Four ( 音隠れの忍四人衆 ) working under Orochimaru, a kunoichi, Tayuya is very ill-tempered and foul-mouthed. Though strong, she is not the strongest of the Sound Four. As stated, she's easy to anger, and you wouldn't want to be the person she takes her anger out on. Her main weapon is a flute, which she uses to summon three powerful deamons which she is then able to control with the flute's music in battle to fight for her.

Naruto
on  e the three members of Team 7. The Jinchuriki sealed with the Nine-tailed demon Kyuubi no Yoko ( 九尾の妖狐 ) at birth. Orochimaru sees Naruto as an obstacle, and very influential, slowly changing Sasuke's heart and goal, which meant they were to be seperated as soon as possible

A current member of the Akatsuki, on e of the last of the Uchiha clanand the said reason Orochimaru left that organization. Definately on  e you wouldn't want to meet.
