Living is simple, a low, quiet voice whispers from the shadows beneath the jungle branches. You turn around quickly, the voice startling you. Stepping from behind the looming grasses and into the sunny clearing stands a large, zebra-skinned kougra, and, before you can even utter a sigh of relief, he speaks again.
It's a motto I've lived by for most of my life. It's not a difficult concept to grasp. We live to learn, love, and then die, and that is what I strive to do: live life to the fullest before it all comes crashing down.
Astounded at such wisdom from such a creature, your eyes begin to glaze over. He steps forward again, his amber eyes studying yours intently, sensing some sort of disbelief, possibly even anxiety. Is everything alright? The kougra was right. Disbelief was perhaps the correct word to used to describe what were feeling. The giant towered nearly four feet tall from head to toe. How could he have possibly been lurking in the brush, just beneath your feet? Still, you nod your head to continue the conversation.
The kougra went on as if he never asked the question. Because of this, some call me a charmer. Others, rambunctious. But I call myself a free spirit, curious, explorative, and downright silly. Just as you thought he would never take a breath, the glistening amber eyes and matching set of teeth split into a smile. You can call me Orin, by the way. And you are…? guest, you reply, and a sense of calm washes over you.

What would you like to know? You must have a question or two. I'm sorry if I startled you, he remarks. You smile.
It's quite alright. I just don't understand how you possibly could have hidden so well without me seeing you! you reply.
How did you even stumble upon Neopia? I've never seen a creature like you around here before. Orinki smiles.
I'll keep my history brief, since there really isn't a lot to tell. I was born on September 4, 2003 (and I'm just now realizing how old I've gotten) in a place not too far from Neopia. Kougras traveled far distances to see me, because my markings were so unusual to them. They had never seen a zebra kougra before. At first, the attention I received bothered me considerably, but after a time, I began to accept myself as larger and different than everyone else. I gained confidence in myself, and the others I guess took that the wrong way. Orin sunk onto his haunches.
What do you mean? you ask.
They took my self confidence more like arrogance, and got the impression that I thought I was better than the rest of them, which was not true. It was really a preteen drama episode, he snorted, and you laugh.
So that's when you came here, to Shukumei?
Not quite. When I decided to leave home to find a new life somewhere that wouldn't make immediate judgments, I stumbled upon gidget_, who was just taking an afternoon stroll through downtown Neopia. Neither of us had any affiliation with Shukumei at the time. She and I met quite similarly to the way you and I met, which is really unusual, because, as you will see when you get to know me better, I'm not a lurker. I love to spend time fishing, swimming, enjoying the sun, and having a good time. For both of you to find me hidden away in the brush is an odd coincidence. Do you two know each other?
I'm not sure I do, you reply.
Seriously? Okay, well, I'll tell you a little bit about Gidge later. To continue on, she and I ran into each other in a very similar situation, only when we met, we were both surprised. In a very dramatic reenactment, Orin stumbled over his long, swooping tail, somersaulting into a fury of green foliage and brown and white fur. Amused, you laugh again. It was sort of like that, he exclaims, standing himself up again.
You're quite the character! you say, between giggles. Orin grins.
I followed Gidget out of the shade to continue our introductory conversation—you know, the typical so-are-you-from-around-here conversation. I explained to her that I was looking for a place to stay temporarily while I was looking for somewhere permanent to reside when she offered that I could stay with her for the time being. It eventually became a long-term commitment, and I still have no intention of leaving her anytime soon.
That was nice of her to take you in!
Yes, I know. I'm forever grateful for her hospitality.
I found out soon enough that she was actually looking for somewhere to live as well, he said. It wasn't long before she discovered Shukumei—basically a neopet's paradise. Its lush green hills and warm, crystal rivers are perfect places to spend hours and hours of relaxation and play. It's perhaps the most beautiful territory I've ever laid these eyes on. And I've made plenty of friends in the meantime.
I love Gidge though. I'm not entirely sure why she even still cares about me. She's nearly 19 years old and in college now, but for whatever reason, can't seem to tear her self away from her pets and Shukumei. I'm not complaining, clearly, but I'm just kind of mystified. :)
Sounds like you've had a pretty easy life, you remark.
Of course! Living is simple.

| Asiphir
What can I say about Asiphir... she's insane. And I don't mean that in a derogatory way. She really is crazy. Asiphir used to be such a gentle, kind lupe, until one day, she just spazzed. I'm telling you! I have no idea what exactly happened in her pretty little head. One day, she was fine and quiet, and then the next, she was telling tales as tall as... well, I don't know how tall. They were tall though. She kept claiming of seeing things and that everyone thought she was crazy. But she is. She hated us for putting her away. Anyway, she's currently residing in an insane asylum. I really do hope that they can help her. I hate to see her like this.

| Ardenell
Oh, Ardy. Such a crazy fellow. And by crazy, I don't mean actually crazy. I mean crazy like crazy crazy.... You're not following me. Okay. -.-; Anyway. Ardenell, or Ardy as we call him, is pretty much one of the coolest lupes I know. He's the navigator for a pirate clan in Shukumei, and is pretty darn good at his job, if I do say so myself. He's not too bad with the ladies either. Ardy hasn't been a part of the family for very long, but he and I have done some serious male bonding, let me tell you. He's a cool cat, except not a cat because I'm a cat and he's not.

| Jiniri
Jiniri is a kougra that I kind of startled into friendship. I was just out on a bright and sunny afternoon when I saw her lying in the grass. Before I knew it, she was angry at me for getting her wet and I was cowering in fear of a WOMAN... I know. Anyway, Jin is a really sweet, kind-hearted kougra. We haven't seen a lot of each other in quite a while. I wonder where she's been... |

Rou is my amazing Tapira. Even though she has a calm, quiet exterior, she's pretty much ridiculous and playful all the time. I don't know how she fools people.
I found Rou in the fields of Shukumei one day, stuck in the mud. I was completely satisfied playing by myself, in all honesty. I don't need a constant playmate. But when I saw Rou standing there, sunk up to her knees in the quicksand, I felt compassion toward her. I, being much larger than her, watched as she struggled to reach for safety with her nose before I snatched her out with a quick slip of the paw. She's really a tiny little thing, but great company, and I love her.

Haha, you want to know about my lovelife? In all honesty, there really isn't much to tell. I may come across as this charming, huge brute of a kougra, but really, I'm a softy. I take care in my relationships, and would rather be a gentleman above anything else. So, as of now, my lovelife is virtually nonexistant. I'm not saything that if the right lady comes around, I'm going to pretend as if I didn't notice, but I'm really not one to take advantage of every opportunity.
No. Seriously. =3

Well, Orin, it's been a real pleasure talking to you, but I really must be off. But first, can I ask you just a few more questions?
Certainly! Ask away.
F.A.Q.
Can you draw me a picture?
No, sorry. Art is reserved for my friends and Shukumei members only. Art trades will possibly be open in the future, however.
Can Orinki be friends with my pet?Through roleplay, possibly. We'll see how it goes. =3
Can Orinki be mates with my pet?
Um.... do they know each other? Roleplay ALWAYS come first, and then we'll see what we have to say about anything else.
So can we roleplay then?
Check the status on Orin's lookup to see if he's open for roleplay.
How do I join Shukumei?
Shukumei is currently not accepting applications, but keep an eye on
