Introduction

A cheery house towered above the road, smooth walls meeting easily with the grass. The door swung open slowly, and a thin, pretty cherub came out, wings fluttering slowly. She had a book in her hand, and raised her head slightly, looking off into the sky, and past it. Quickly, she came back down to earth, and slowly started out, walking briskly over the pavement. She was headed twords the hospital, which wasn't too far from her house, tail swishing along quietly as she walked. Standing outside the door, the cherub looked in at the hospital. A sad smile flashed across her face as she went in, to start the day's work.

History

Ona's past is shady at best. A mystery more complex than most, no one has yet found out who - or what - she really is. Ona is accepted in society as your average, everyday, Cherub, a nurse at the Valhallian hospital. She functions well during medical emergencies, keeping a clear head and preventing emotions from ruling what she does. She works logically, but spends much of her time by herself fantasizing on one thing or another, often while reading rather larve novels.

She appeared one day as a baby, wrapped in a basket on the steps of the house of Vietarent, nothing with her but Axen, a young faerie Zomutt who had nesteled with Ona, in an attempt to keep her warm. She was raised along with Vietarent, and the others of his family, for quite a long time not knowning that they were not blood-related. When she was told that she wasn't actually a part of the family, she still functioned well, and to this day reffers to Vietarent as, "my brother", as he refers to her as, "my sister". Nothing special ever surrounded her, she got very good grades in school, accelling in most classes, and eventually got a job at the hospital. There - well, maybe this is being rushed. After all, things all started before she was found on Vie's doorstep, back when she was born.

Ona was a "mistake". Her parents hadn't intended to have her, and hadn't wanted her either. They already had one daughter, Maria, and were content with that. As a result, Ona was simply givin away to an adoption shelter. There, she was adopted by the worst kind, and still a baby, was taken off with the shady valhallians who adopted her. Ona hadn't been adopted for care and love, but instead as another test subject in an underground lab. She had minor test run on her, untill... the incident.

Another one of the test subjects, Xacuo, had been through more stressful tests. Finally, unable to bear the strain, his mental process snapped halfway, creating a dangerous breach in his sanity. He was only five at the time, and during this dangerous mental process, lost his temper. Xacuo didn't destroy the lab, but rather ran through loosing the inmates, which included baby Ona. He grabbed her and ran, the organization they had both had to attend down, but still around. Ona was jostled in Xacuo's mad escape, causing her to accedently blast him with healing energy, mostly mending his mind, and bringing him back from the danger of insanity. Xacuo found a likely spot, and left Ona on the doorstep, whirling off back to his own home.

Where Ona may have remebered the events of that night, the stress from healing completely wiped her memory, so she was left without even a glimpse of her past - probably a positive thing. There was, however, one drawback of the memory lost. She had no recollection of what had happened to warn anyone, and Xacuo had his memory of that time period destroyed as well. The institute had been reaserching on the effects of mentality, and while the side effects of Ona's tests were put off, they would come eventually, but the strength and form of the side effects are currently unknown, and it seems shall remain that way until they take their toll.

Relatvies and Aquaintences

Vietarent is Ona's adoptive brother. They have been through almost everything together, and Ona makes it her buisness to see to it that Vie is happy. She would go to the end of the world for him if he needed it, and places Vie above almost everything else, including her own life. Vie, in return, protects his sister - to the point of overprotection sometimes. He dosen't really trust any guys who flirt with Ona, as she has a history of males pretending to like her, and then just as she starts to open up to them, they pratically vanish, leaving Ona hurt. He's more or less chased off guys from trying anything with Ona because of one incident. A male tried to "take advantage of her" and Vie quietly beat him up, leaving him somewhat near to death.

Tlau is one of the few males who Ona trusts completely - Vie being the only other one. He's risked his neck for her various times, and there is a great friendship between them - though neither of them will every admit to anything more. Tlau means a lot to Ona, and she has almost died herself healing him on several occasions, a result of the war with Neflheim.

Maria is Ona's sister, and last blood relative. While the two have never met, Maria is well aware of Ona's existance, though Ona hasn't a clue that Maria even exists.

Saydnn is Vie's girlfriend. She and Ona are not particularly close, and though Ona is polite, she tries to keep a slight eye on Sayd. Unlike Vie, Ona knows how Sayd tended to act in school, flirting with guys to get them to do work for her. Though Sayd's feelings for Vie are genuine, and vice versa, Ona is slightly skeptical still, as the last thing she wants is her brother to be used as a "protector" until the war is over and his usefullness in that area is eliminated.

Xacuo and Ona have a rather... sketchy history. Aside from the one night, neither of them took a role in the other's life until recently. Xacuo was re-caputred by the same organization, and this time his mental state was broken beyond repair. As their memories were wiped, neither Ona nor Xacuo know about their previous encounter, though recently, they met again. Xacuo, now fuled by an insane drive to feed off hurt, death, and negative emotions, as well as without the ability to feel physical pain, and a mental state that seems to have forbade any mood other than his typical insane state, tried to kill Ona on two occasions so far. He became ubsessed with the idea of hurting her, as when Ona gets hurt many negative emotions slide about, allowing Xacuo to become slightly stronger, and for his overall ability to increase temporaraly. This has cause him to take a highly negative role in Ona's current stadge of life, though what positive things may come of it are doubtful, as negativity seems to be the goal.

Valoriea is Ona's best friend. Though Ona is older by quite a few years, the two of them have a close friendship, and Ona enjoys spending time with Valo - even if all they are doing is fooling around a little at the hospital, rather than doing chores. Their age difference seems to have no effect on their friendship, and Ona enjoys the chats they have. Since the war, they have been givin seperate assignments, and therefore don't see each other very often.

Ris is another of Ona's friends. He is a breif school aquantience, and someone who Ona occasinally bumps into. She likes his company a lot, and his quiet demure, though she's ready to joke with him too. They really don't see each other very often, and are mild aquantiences, but when they do meet, Ona's ready to greet him with a grin.

Axen

Axen is Ona's faerie zomutt, and close companion. Like all Valhalla petpets, Axen has the ability to talk, though he almost never does. He is quite an interesting mutt, and seems to be hyper and happy all the time, though Axen can calm down every now and then. He is a very agreeable zomutt, and is almost always ready to greet someone by slobbering all over them, a rather gross, but affectionate greeting. He has lived with Ona ever since she came to Vie's house, and the two of them get along amazingly well. Though many like Axen, he annoys Tropica, Vie's island tasu, to almost no end.

It probably started one day in the park. Just sitting there reading, without a care. Of course, Ona didn't realise what she was getting herself into by talking to Ves. Getting thrown on a whirlwind of a war, and almost dieing countless times, just because she decided to talk to Ves... Though perhaps it would be easyer to understand if you could read Ona's mind, a complex thing at best. Perhaps it wasn't just talking to Ves that did it, but a desire to keep Vie in one piece. Though, that conversation certaintly stirred her heart a little with the arrival of - at any rate, Ona was reading her book, when another Hospital worker passed by. Under her tree in the park, Ona finally plucked up the courage to go ask him a few questions.

More Valhallians came, a FireClan named Kim, a seraph by the name of Tlau, and a few others. A random meeting in the park - or so it seemed, and was. After talking for a few moments, and dissuading Tlau's several attempts to flirt with her, Ona returned to the hospital. A few days later, Tlau came into the hospital with a slightly hurt wrist, which Ona healed, blushing a little under his compliments. Vietarent came in, and basically told Tlau to go stick his head in the ground and leave Ona alone, in not so many words. The next few days were rather uneventful for Ona, until Vie came with the news that he would be leaving on another mission soon.

Ona's next choice, was quite possibly a mistake. Maybe. She decided to go with him, as more medical support. Her fate was sealed when she went to Sorath's office, and told him as much, on her way to lunch with Tlau. There, she learned that Airisaz had just arrived in the hospital in critical condition. Despite being on her lunch break, and having no obligation to do it, Ona ran back to the hospital, and helped Ouris heal, and therefore save, Airi's life.

The next day, Tlau came into the hospital in horrid condition, where having a seizure was the most likely next step for him, should he not get medical attention immediatly. Ona healed him right away, and Tlau was sentenced to bed-rest for several days. When he woke up, Tlau almost caused his own death on purpose, but Ona came in and stopped him, the end result being they both fell out of a window. Ona, attempting to fly and lift Tlau too, managed to make the decent slower, so that there were no additinal injuries.

Tlau attempted the same thing, in a different way, again. This time, Ona wasn't able to save him - Tlau left the hospital before attempting anything, and it was Vie who stopped Tlau, rather surprizingly. Vie used a rather... persuasive method to get Tlau to shape up, and he returned, apologising to Ona, and explaining to her why he had been acting that way. Tlau had taken an untested potion designed to help him concentrate, and took too much of it. The attempts he had made were side effects of the potion. It was then, that Tlau decided never to take it again, and rather work on concentration himself.

A few days later, with everyone in good enough condition, Tlau brought those selected to come to TXF to TXF. Things weren't quiet at all when they got there, in fact, rather soon, one of the group, Saydnn, was xwee-napped by a demon named Shir. Only Elazul was around, as well as Anusha and Momo, the rest of the group in a seperate cave. Valo and Ona were in the middle of healing Aditeya's wings. Ona stayed with the group while Vie and Tlau went off to resuce her. When they came back, Ona healed the three of them, before sending them off to go sleep and get some rest to recover. The next morning, Ona awoke to Tlau's shout. His sister, Truth, had come with bad news - Sorath, the general of the military and Vie's flight leader, was dead.

This caused much greif on the parts of others, with almost everyone upset or shocked. Tlau and Ona went off a little from the group to talk, and soon returned, not wanting to stray from everyone for too long. After that, Ona went to sleep, exausted from the efforts of the past few days. When she awoke, more negative things had happened. Truth had been attacked by shadows during the night, and had to be taken to the hospital. Ona, Kim, and Tlau also went, Ona to heal, Tlau to watch over his sister, and Kim because she had been the only one with Truth during the attack.

At the hospital, Ona healed Truth, before going about more chores. Feeling over-stressed, when she met up with Tlau a few hours later, she was distant and slightly cold. Tlau carried Ona to her room and put her on the bed, before leaving her to sleep and going back to Truth. Finally, Ona went in to see Airi the next day, on her normal hospital rounds. She decided that Airi was healed enough to walk around the hospital courtyard, and along with Zya, a neopian who had also been attacked at the same time as Airi, kept an eye on Airi. Somehow, he managed to hide himself, and when neither Ona nor Zya could find him, ran away from the hospital after they flew out to search Valhalla.

The two of them searched for Airi, and ended up looking around in the park. There, a whole bunch of Valhallians who didn't trust neopians stopped both Ona and Zya, with weapons out. It took them quite a while to talk their way out of that situation, and then they went to the valcano of the FireClan to look for him there; Airi is a FireClan Angel after all. Unable to find him, Zya and Ona returned to the hospital and looked in the courtyard again. Airi had snuck out to steal a certain weapon that he could use, and then returned to the spot he vanished from, unseen. Ona healed him again, and sentenced him to four more days of strict bedrest before he would be allowed out of the hospital.

For the next few days, all was pretty much calm for Ona, with no big emergencies. Four days later, both Truth as well as Airi were healed, so Ona rounded up those two as well as Zya and Kim to go back to the xweetok forest. When they couldn't find Tlau, Ona got exeedingly worried, as she had told him not to leave the hospital. Truth led the group to his house, and after waiting for about fifteen minnuts, and searching the house, Tlau arrived at his house from somewhere. Ona greeted him cooly, acting slightly immature about the fact that he had gone off without warning. She asked him to tell her next time he ran off, but Tlau refused to promise anything with just a, "You should get more rest." Ona got really annoyed about that bit, and the pair stopped talking to each other at all.

When they arrived back in TXF, Ona snuck away from the group, feeling that since Tlau wasn't going to bother to say when HE ran off, there was no need for her to either. That was a very bad choice though, as Xacuo found and attacked Ona out of the blue, seeking another kill as it brought him joy. Ona, as a very bad fighter, was quickyl overwhelmed, though she managed to scream once before being knocked out. At the scream, Xacuo picked her up and ran off with Ona, Tlau, Vie, Sayd, Truth, Kim, and most of the group following him after hearing her scream. After a long chase, Xacuo realised there was no way to escape, and dropped Ona from about fifty feet up in the air, leaving immediatly.

Ona was unconcious, therefore couldn't fly, and when she finally opened her eyes, she was too damaged to move, and could only watch the trees as she fell. Ona was falling so fast that only Tlau would be fast enough to catch her, and he did, wrapping himself protectively around her as they fell and hit the ground. Truth had cast a liking spell to absorbe part of the damage that Tlau would take, and the amount she took was large enough that she fell as well, Vie flying and catching her. Finally, everyone landed and gathered around Tlau and Ona. Ona, seeing that Tlau was hurt, started healing him, despite the fact that to do so would cost Ona her own life. Truth then set another bond with Ona, so that Ona took Truth's energy instead of her own, therefore staying alive.

Since Ona was in critical condition, Sayd and Truth together cast an advanced and powerful healing spell, healing most of Ona's wounds. The strain cause Truth to faint, and Tlau carried her back to the cave, while Vie carried Ona. Vie flew Ona up while Kim took up Truth, as Tlau had a broken wing. Tlau wanted to climb up, but Vie flew down and flew him up anyway, accedently josteling Tlau's wing more. Tlau and Ona were still acting cold towards one another, though no one else knew why. Finally, Vie talked to Ona and got her to tell him what was going on, and afterwards talked to Tlau about it. In the end, Vie told Ona to go out and talk to Tlau. Ona went out and, seeing Tlau asleep, healed his wing. She almost fell down as she walked back in, however Tlau had woken up and caught her. Ona apologised to him, and the two of them had a chat before going back inside the cave to rejoin the rest of the group.

During the night, Ona's power to do a version of astreal projecting kicked in. {Astreal projecting is sending your asreal body - sorta like your soul - out of your body to go somewhere although your physical body is in once place.} Her asreal body was attacked by Xacuo, and Ona started to run a high fever. She managed to come back to her real body once, in order to drag herself out into the snow in hopes of cooling down, but then her astreal body was dragged back. A few minnuts after this, a shadow tried to steal Tlau's soul, causing Vie and Kim to wake up. The two quickly destroyed the shadow, and put Tlau's soul back before Vie noticed Ona. He lifted his sister, who was literally so hot she was burning to the touch with fever onto a palated.

For the first time in her life, Ona had a blue cresent moon on her forehead, and she was totally immobile and unresponsive. No one had a clue what was going on, until finally Ona managed to get back for a few breif moments, long enough to murmer Xacuo's name. She had been the only one to see him last time he had attacked, and they had identified Xacuo based on her description of him. Vie and Tlau immediatly left to go... deal with Xacuo, leaving Sayd and Truth to watch over Ona, while the rest of the group slept.

The two found Xacuo, as well as Ona's astreal body, although they could neither hear, nor see her, therefore hadn't a clue she was there. They fought Xacuo, and the fight ended with Xacuo's arm being ripped off. Tlau's whip had gotten stuck around it, and Vie chucked a knife at it, which is what caused the rip. Ona's paw, unfortunatly, was also cut in the whip, and because no one but Xacuo could see her, she was also hit with the electricity as well as cut with the knife. Xacuo knocked Tlau out before running off, Vie not following so that he could help Tlau back. Ona, in the meantime, managed to return to her body again, although she was still very weak. The two males returned only to find that if Ona didn't get to the hospital very soon, she would die from her wounds. Tlau, with the last of his strength, opened another portal, into the hospital.

Truth had been linked to Ona, and had been taking part of the damage from Ona and was therefore also in need of medical attention, although she was not anywhere near as majorly injured. Tlau, with all this stress on top of the soul-stealing that had almost happened to him before, fainted as they all got through the portal. Vie put Ona down on a bed, and then placed Tlau on another one, while Sayd, who was carrying Truth, put Truth down as well. Ouris and Roz, two healers, worked on the three of them, and soon Ona becamed stablized, after much healing effort.

Truth would be fine as well, but Tlau fell into a coma, unresponsive to all attempts at coming out of it, although he was stablized. After four days of being knocked out, Ona finally came back to counciousness. Roz healed her a little more, and it was then she learned that Tlau was in a coma. When Roz left, Ona once more used her asteral powers, this time, at will rather than being dragged to do it. She managed to pull Tlau out of his coma by healing him asterally, with the help of another being who also played a big part in getting him back.

When Tlau came out of his coma, Ona found a way to make herself heard when she was using her astreal body, and had a chat with Tlau, explaining a few things. Ona then left for her body as Vie came in to visit Tlau, and she went back to sleep, and didn't wake up for another two more days. Vie had come to bring Axen to Ona as well as see how Tlau, Truth, and Ona were doing. Finally, when Ona woke up, she saw Axen at the end of her bed. The devoted Zomutt came up to lick Ona's face, before a hesitent knock came on the door, and Ris came into Ona's room to visit her.
