Northern waters cool the shore,
Playfully dancing, goes the tide
Deep breath, then the crash,
With the beach it doth collide

A mile out, lingers She,
Among the coral rock
She knows better than to stray
Too close to the fishing dock

Perfection glides through the sea,
Beauty following at her tail
She knows the waters well by heart,
For here the Queen doth prevail

Every creature knows Her name,
Those who linger in the sea
The waves bow at Her presence,
Others drop upon one knee

The Flotsam Queen doth glide
Every cave for Her to stay,
And every wave for Her to ride

You are swimming through a vast, endless sea with seemingly nothing in sight. You reach a small coral bed and sit down to rest. Moments later, you are graced with the presence of a Flotsam with dazzling jewels that catch the rays of the sun from the world above.

Welcome, guest, to my realm in the ocean deep. My name is Nitocrisca, I am a Royal girl Flotsam and queen of the Neopian waters. My guess is that you've ventured here to find out about graceful, aquatic creatures such as myself. There are many ocean-related aspects of Neopets - such as the Water Faerie and her abode, Maraquan pets and, well, myself!

The Water Faerie looks like any other faerie, but she has a tail and fins that closely resemble those of a typical underwater creature. She can usually be found on her cloud in Faerieland. She kindly runs the Healing Springs at all times of the day. She's a very busy faerie!

Although sometimes she still takes the time to visit us in the cool, Neopian waters. The Water Faerie even has her own shop in Faerieland! She stocks various Healing Potions and snowballs to aid you in the Battledome.

All faeries draw their unique powers from an elemental source. In this case, water. The Water Faerie specializes in healing and other defensive powers. She can restore your pets' hitpoints or even cure them if they are sick or hungry! When she's not helping Neopets at the springs, she can be found swimming in rivers and streams that run throughout Neopia. The Water Faerie is thought by some to be the most graceful faerie of all. She has abilities such as: Heal, Bubble Shield, Water of Life, Steam Shield, Water Jet, Quench, and Water Breathing!

Maraqua is a coral city deep within the depths of the vast Neopian waters. There are many interesting shops and attractions to be found here.

Kelp Café

My personal favourite is the Kelp Café. I would recommend making a reservation, as it can get pretty busy during peek hours! But it is certainly worth the wait. The staff is very gracious and service is fast! The Kelp Café is known for its rare and exotic Maraquan delicacies.

They have four main courses at the café: appetisers, main course, dessert and cocktails. I would suggest getting one of each, as they are all magnificent!

Here are my personal favourites:

Appetiser - Pate a la Kelp: Our unique vegetarian pate is made from only the finest vegetation around.
Main Course - Ocean Platter: A delectable blend of Maraquan delights.
Dessert - Peachpa and Stramberry Shell: A wafer shell filled with Peachpa and Stramberry sorbet.
Cocktail - Thornberry Brew: An extremely concentrate blast of Thornberry juice.

Bubbling Pit

So you're interested in getting a Maraquan Neopet? Good for you! We're more than happy to welcome new Neopets into the Maraquan waters. I'm not a Maraquan pet myself, as you already learned, but I do live among them. For a full list of what Neopets can be transformed into Maraquan beauties, stop by the Bubbling Pit.

Before your Neopet begins sprouting gills and fins, you have to obtain a Maraquan Paint Brush. Sadly, these are very rare and therefore quite expensive.

If my calculations are correct, right now they're about 3,500,000 neopoints! Wow! That's a lot of games. But are you willing to deny your Neopet the pleasure of wandering the open sea? Of course not! Underwater Fishing

Last, but certainly not least, we have the Underwater Fishing site, which is increasingly popoular. The fishing site can be found in a rather mysterious part of Maraqua, the ruins. Not a lot is known about this site, but it certainly is a great spot for fishing! We underwater creatures don't mind the fishing much, as long as we don't get snagged on your fishing lines. The fishers there normally catch old boots and flasks anyway, which is fine by us!

Two of the most unusual and mysterious items caught by fishers are Mysterious Swirly Potions and Flasks of Rainbow Fountain Water.

Both these items are extremely rare, but they are blessed with the powers of the Maraquan sea. Mysterious Swirly Potions suit their title well. When fed to your pet, it will transform him or her into a random Limited Edition pet, but will keep its original colour - WOW! Flasks of Rainbow Fountain Water do just the opposite. They keep the species of your pet but change its colour randomly.

While these potions are indeed desirable, they are both very dangerous and should be used with caution.
