THE FAMILY
Here are all the Neopets that I own and treasure. Each one of my accounts is set up into a theme. I don't consider my extra accounts sides, but extensions of my main account because I have too many role play characters that I wanted to make into Neopets and I can't put more than 4 of them on my main account. The way my pets are organized below is how each account will be organized in the end. Hover over the image to see their name and click to visit their lookups:

Any pet not listed that resides on my accounts are being zapped by the lab ray or being adopted/traded out. Please remember my pets are not UFT/UFA. If my lab rats go UFT or UFA, it will say so on their lookups. Do not neomail me asking so if it does not indicate it. If you do send a neomail asking me if a pet is UFT/UFA when it doesn't say so on their lookups, I will just delete your neomail and forget you sent it to me in the first place. ART STATUS
Art Requests: CLOSED INDEFINITELY
I do NOT, I repeat, no NOT take art requests. Why? Because 80% of the time I do a request, the image is not used and you are wasting my time. This has now happened to me so many times that I am never going to open requests again. I will only do trades or fan art/gifts. I also don't do art for applications. I have seen too many times apps being made for pets up for adoption that are being retraded later in the pound chat. Seriously, don't apply to ADOPT a pet unless you are going to keep it and don't waste an artist's time abusing their art like that.
Fan Art: AT MY DISCLOSURE
Can not be requested. Fan art is random and I pick who I would like to do fan art of. Most of my fan art is gifts to people who have pets that inspire me to draw them or a thank you for helping me out.
Art Trades: OPEN TO QUALITY ARTWORK
Very uncommon since I'm highly selective about who I choose to trade with since several art trades I've done ended with me completing my half and the other artist doing either something rushed and slapped together or nothing at all. I tend to hang out on the Neopets Beauty Contest Board on the forums looking for artists who inspire me with thier characters and art to do trades with.
Collaborations: CLOSED
Exremely rare. Once again, I lurk the Neopets BC board and will ask other artists to collab with me if thier work inspires me.
Commissions: CLOSED
I do NOT accept commissions for neopets related work.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Why do your neopets really look like neopets and you don't give them unique designs?
A: Well this is a long story. If you read neopets terms and conditions for the use of their website, there is a section that talks about how neopets owns everything on the website, and I mean EVERYTHING. Say you come up with this awesome idea for a video game or create a neopet that has an amazing unique design for a color that hasn't been done yet. If a staff member sees your work, Neopets has the right to take it, use it and sell it in any way shape or form without giving you single penny or credit for it. That is why my neopets, I try my best to keep them as close as I can to the customization art as possible while mixing in my own art style to change it and make it my own. ^^ Don't get me wrong, I love seeing what other people have done and created their own unique designs and changed the anatomy and proportions of pets, but it's just something I would prefer not to do myself.

Q: How did you draw that?
A: Ah yes, probably the most common question I get asked. The way I currently do my art is I either sketch in photoshop or on paper. If the sketch is on paper, I scan it and adjust it in photoshop. I freehand my lineart in photoshop making use of the pressure sensitivity of my tablet pen, or I do lineart in Illustrator and export it to photoshop. Once I have the lineart done, I use several layers (one for each color in a drawing) for the flat colors then even more to shade. How I color and shade depends on how I want the picture to feel. That is why I have a couple different ways of shading. I don't draw backgrounds a lot, but when I do, I use the same steps as I would the image itself or I paint in the BG freehand with my tablet.

Q: How long have you been drawing?
A: Well if you want an honest answer, I started tracing Disney cartoons when I was in elementary school. I stopped drawing because my parents wanted me to be a doctor or laywer and studying was more important to them than creativity. After I graduated high school, I got back into neopets and started drawing again in 2001. I stopped drawing in 2005, then started again in 2008 on a more serious level after meeting my significant other.

Q: What do you use to draw?
A: My current tools of the trade are a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Q: So the computer does all the work? Drawing with pencils is much harder than computers.
A: That is a MYTH. My tablet works just like a pencil and paper, except I don't have to constantly sharpen my pencil and waste pages of paper drawing. My monitor is like a big piece of paper than I can draw on just like I can any pencil and paper.

Q: What else can you do other than draw?
A: I also draw with pencils on drawing paper, wood burn and make scupltures.

Q: So you graduated college? What is your job?
A: Yes I did graduate and my current job is working as a professional artist for a TV show. I design their logos, T-shirts, website images, everything. I am also working as an oceanographer, filming and taking photos in the ocean for the TV show.

Q: How did you learn to draw?
A: I can never say this enough, LOTS and LOTS of practice and a lot of determination. Don't get discouraged and believe in yourself and you will accomplish great things.

Q: Can you be my neofriend?
A: I just met you and you are asking me this why? Let's talk first for a while then go from there.

Q: Join my guild please!
A: Unless I am actively looking, no. And if I'm in a guild already, why ask?

Q: WOW! Your "insert pet species and name here" is so cool! Do you want to trade him/her for my pet?
A: Unless I specifically note it, please don't ask for my pets. Notice how they have art and descriptions? That usually means the pet has a good home and isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Q: Can I neomail you?
A: Sure! I never pass off the opportunity to chat with anyone.

Q: Have you recieved any awards?
A: Other than neopets trophies, there are not many other awards I have gotten.

NEOPETS ART GALLERY TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This is an almost complete collection of all my art that has made it into the neopets art gallery since 2002. I'm still adding to it as I dig up my art. ^_^ The most recent image is posted at the top and as you scroll down, you travel "back in time" to see how terrible some of my entries were when I first started to learn how to color in photoshop. XD Practice makes perfect.

All my art is entered under the username sailornezumi because I believe that entering the art gallery under multiple accounts is cheating and unfair to other artists on the website who deserve to be in art gallery.

If you would like to use any of the images below to complement petpages, guild pages, userlookups, pet lookups... ect, you are allowed to as long as you GIVE ME FULL CREDIT for the drawing (PLEASE LINK BACK TO MY USERLOOKUP OR THIS PETPAGE.

Artist's Notes: There was a drawing that I did two years before this one and I thought it would be different to redraw the image in my new cartoony style to compare how much my style had changed from the first version. I really like this one. The water reflection was not easy to pull off, but I think it came out pretty well.

Artist's Notes: My inspiration for this was the bouncing jackalope short on the extras DVD that came with Disney's "The Incredibles" DVD. I had to get the image out of my mind and this it what I drew. This is also a fan art for Bash of the BC board cause Bash is one of the nicest Neopians I know and one way I like to thank people on neopets for being nice to me is fan art. :)

Artist's Notes: This is the custom design to my beloved Faerie Pteri named Fasiri. This drawing is a personal favorite of mine. I sketched him in Photoshop, Lined and Colored in Flash MX 2005 Pro then took it back into photoshop for the shading. I love how much emotion went into this drawing with the body language and expression.
DO NOT USE THIS DRAWING in any way. The design is only useable by me, sailornezumi, and if I see anyone duplicating it, I will press charges against you.

Artist's Notes: I originally made this for the art gallery as an image for slorg day, and it didn't get in. I added the text bubble later on and sent it in as a comic for the Neopian Times, and it got in. Then I sent it in again for the AG with the bubble and it was accepted. This was also my very FIRST attempt at cell shading. Yikes. XD I also didn't realize that the drawing was also similar to the "Finding Nemo" poster until I had finished it.

Artist's Notes: I remember free handing this drawing in photoshop. Shading white is evil. I adopted an xmas kougra named Kitsunae at the time and drew her design as such. She has a kitsune shaped marking on her forhead. Now she's a plushie draik and the marking is on her thigh. A draiktaur to be more specific.

Artist's Notes: My old lab rat turned into a green bruce during the holidays that year and I started to draw him and got a little attached to his bruce look. This was also the year, at this time too, that the BC changed and made it so you can't see vote numbers anymore or how you were placing in the contest. I remember coming second overall in the BC for the first time with another bruce drawing of my lab rat at the time. Ah the memories.

This is a collection of all my art that has placed in the beauty contest. It is an incomplete collection since neopets is slowly deleting old art off the database. It is also imcomplete since I used to have old pets that I would enter then adopt to new homes and those names are beyond my memory. The art below will be of neopets I own currently. I will not be posting art of old pets I used to own that have BC trophies on here.

Please remember, my accounts are Sailornezumi, NezumiRyu, NezRyu, Yuuchiru and The_Artistic_Rat. Any piece below can feature any one of those names, so the art does belong to me. Because of the new transfer system, my pets have been moved around to organize them better.

Non of the art below is to be edited/copied/traced. It is for my use only and a gallery for you to browse to see my work from the past.

Because of the age of these drawings, I do not have the originals anymore, so I will directly link the Neopets BC images instead. I found as many as I could, but not all drawings that match the trophies I have worked hard to earn still exist.

AS OF JULY 2009, I HAVE RETIRED FROM THE NEOPETS BEAUTY CONTEST. THE NEO BC IS BASED ON NOTHING BUT ADVERTISING AND TALENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. I WASH MY HANDS CLEAN OF SOMETHING THAT IS SO STRESSFUL AND AGGRAVATING WHEN IT SHOULD BE FUN. LEARN TO VOTE FOR ART BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT AND IT'S GOOD QUALITY, NOT BECAUSE THEY SPAMMED YOUR BOARD. STOP VOTING FOR HORRIBLE QUALITY ARTWORK.
