Neopia's history is steeped in a myriad of royal lines and empires, ranging from vast underwater kingdoms to celestial palaces. While the average neopian cannot, as a general rule, trace their royal lineage accurately, it is possible to find some who still hold impressive titles, family names, and regal provinces. This page will explore the lore of Neopian Royalty in all its varied forms.

Royal Kingdoms
For a Neopet to count themselves as a true royal, they must first rule some form of land where others dwell as subjects. Here are some of the most famous Neopian Kingdoms.
Faerieland
Perhaps the most undisputed and widely-known neopian royal line is that of the great Queen Fyora, who presides over the sweeping dynasty of Faerieland. In her honour stands the Faerieland palace, wherein decisions that affect all of neopia are made. Despite various imposters, including nefarious, interfering sisters, Faerieland maintains its place among the highest of neopian elite.
Brightvale
Although neighboured by the equally popular Meridell, Brightvale stands as the cleaner, more established kingdom. Ruled by the wise King Hagan, Brightvale is a flourishing city that lives up to its name. Sporting classical wares of motes and armour, books and potions, and holder of the famous Wheel of Knowledge, Brightvale is a prime tourist location and a prominent Neopian landmark.
Meridell
One of Neopia's oldest kingdoms, Meridell is situated on a penninsula next to it's sister city, Brightvale, and ruled by the irritable King Skarl. The inhabitants of this jolly land are of humble origins, and enjoy simple pleasures such as rolling cheese and leaping headlong into tunnels. Meridell promotes games which involve petpets, such as Kiss the Mortog, Turdle Racing, and the world-famous Turmaculus.
Altador
The city of Altador is shrouded in mystery. After it dissapeared and was lost to legend some 3000 years ago, it suddenly resurfaced, to be reached through a shining portal in Faerieland. The history of the city has been forgotten, but Altadorians are resuming their daily lives, unninterupted by the threat of the Darkest Faerie. The kingdom was named after its ruler, King Altador.
Maraqua
Maraqua has been rife with war since the first attack of Captain Scarblade. This underwater kingdom, ruled by King Kelpbeard, is host to numerous aquatic-looking creatures that cannot be found anywhere else in Neopia. While traversing Maraqua's sandy realm, one can pass the prestigious Kelp Resturant or try their hand at the game of Underwater Fishing.
Roo Island
The tiny principality of Roo Island sits off the coast near Neopia Central and Kiko Lake. This little land is ruled by the bouncy King Roo, who brings great delight to the inhabitants of his kingdom by declaring every day a holiday and spending his time playing Dice-A-Roo. While nothing much ever happens here, everyone is happy, making it a relaxing, peaceful holiday destination.
Merchandising
With the booming population of Neopia knowing no bounds, it is inevitable that producers will succumb to the making of merchandise for these great monarchies. Items range from neohome items and toys to foodstuffs and books. Here are some examples of products available for purchase.

Avatars
It is many neopet players' pastime to hunt around the site for various avatars, which are attainable by random events, high game scores, certain links, or by other, more shadowy deeds. Understandably, many avatars are themed around various royal figures of neopia, and are highly sought after. Here is a list of the avatars with some form of royal significance about them, and how they can be obtained.

Queen Fyora Fyora is the queen of all the faeries. Having lived for hundreds of years she is incredibly wise, and resides in an airy castle high in Faerieland. Fyora also owns the prestigious Hidden Tower, where she sells neopia's rarest and most sought after items to raise money for her beloved kingdom. This all-powerful faerie is the most famous Queen in Neopia's history.
King Hagan
Possibly Neopia's wisest leader, King Hagan reigns over the city of Brightvale. Author of numerous books, this inspiring know-it-all feels it his duty to pass on his hoardes of information to the population of Neopia. Like any truly wise person, however, Hagan realises the importance of keeping one's mind open to new ideas, and as such allows Neopians to enter his castle and impart any tidbits of wisdom they have concocted.
King Skarl
Nicknamed 'The Grumpy Old King', King Skarl quite readily lives up to his description. In spite of the hundreds of doggedly loyal Neopians who brave his wrath daily to tell him their carefully procured jokes, this disturbed king refuses to be pacified for long, making life for his courtiers as hellish as possible. He has, however, had to endure watching his kingdom ruined by the cruel power of Darigan, to which perhaps his rocky temperament pertains.
King Roo
As the only royal in the entirety of the land, King Roo has lapsed slightly into more common ways. He is, however, a true and just leader, having led his people out of great despair with the invention of games such as Dice-a-Roo and the Roo Island Merry-Go-Round. He has won the love and respect of his people by making every day of the year a holiday.
King Altador
Following in the tradition of Neopian Kings, King Altador is wise, loyal, and strong. His statue stands in the Hall of Heroes among twelve others. King Altador is known as 'The Hunter' and is depicted with a sword and bow.

Still Interested?
If you have found yourself thoroughly intrigued by what you have seen today, then maybe it is that you have royal blood hidden deep inside. If this is the case, why not buy a Royal Paint Brush and show all the world your true colours! Be warned, however - Royal PBs are some of the most expensive Paint Brushes that Neopia has to offer - hence the rareity and exclusiveness of royal pets.
See, only REAL royals can afford this beauty!
Farewell, and I do hope you have enjoyed this display. I'm always trying to add more, so please check back.

Just wanted to say a huge thankyou to the hundreds of people for their support, ideas, and ongoing kindness with regards to Neopian Royalty. Also to TNT, for giving it the Site Spotlight award.

Because of my exquisite beauty, some of Neopia's finest artists can't help but attempt to capture me in their artwork. Here are their interpretations, and, if so inclined, feel absolutely free to send Rosie your own! :P
