Conquering the Green Monster A guide to manual transfer in the pound.
Welcome to my guide to manual transfer in the pound! While TNT finally brought us the self-transfer feature people longed after for years, the limitations with how many transfers a month that can be done leaves die-hard labbers and foster parents with a need for more room to breathe. With no QAL to boot, users everywhere are needing to find a safe way to move their pets! There really isn't, but manual transfer can be a quick and easy process that can lead to much success when done right for separate users or self-transfer. So if you're looking for a guide, look no further! Here it is. Your easy step by step guide to conquering the pound.
I in no way, guarantee that your pets will NOT get snatched by someone along the way. Once you drop a pet in the pound, it is up for grabs for anyone. That being said, speed is your friend.
Self-transfer
1. Know your pound. Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the pound. Look at it's front, look at it in depth, refresh a few times. By now, you'll have noticed that inside the Adopt door above your three pet options is a small bar that you can type things into. It's your search bar, and if you type a name in, will take you to a page that will tell you whether or not that pet is in the pound. The search bar is the biggest part of manual transfer and is what you'll rely on. For self-transfer, you're going to need two browsers. I recommend Firefox and IE. Your main browser (the one you are most comfortable in and that works the fastest) will be your adopting browser. The second, will be your pounding browser. If you don't have two browsers, two computers will work just dandy.
2. Open your browsers. In the adoption browser, open up the pound and click the Adopt door. (Make sure you're logged into the account you wish to adopt the pet on. Make sure you have a free space for the pet. Make sure you have enough neopoints to adopt said pet.) Type in the name of the pet you will be transfering. DO NOT POUND THE PET YET. Just search the name. Your page will change and the Adopt a Pet box will have one red box inside it with the words 'No abandoned Neopets were found with that name.'. Look at the address bar, you'll see this: http://www.neopets.com/pound/adopt.phtml?search=PETNAMEHERE Well, you'll see whatever PETNAMEHERE is replaced with. Don't change the name, and just leave the page as is. The name will stay there when you refresh the page. Now, open your second browser. Log into the account that you are pounding the pet from. Open the Disown door, and look at your pets. It costs 250 nps to pound the pet. Be VERY careful in who you are pounding! Make sure you have the name right in your Adoption browser! Check again! Got it right? Good. Prepare yourself.
3. Pound, refresh, click, enter. The next step must be completed very quickly. With lots of confidence to boot! What you need to do is pound the pet, move to your adoption browser, refresh the page, click Adopt, and hit enter on your keyboard. Sound easy? It is! Here is what the page will look like after you have refreshed and when the pet is ready to be adopted...

Scary isn't it? That circled green adopt button is NEW. It caught me off guard the first time I used it. It just looks bright and obnoxious, but you need to click it. Now, when you pound the pet, you can either refresh the page by hitting f5, using your refresh button on your browser, or clicking search again. Try it out beforehand to see what works best for you. Don't even think to wait for the picture. If you're self-transfering, you KNOW it's in there, so just hit Adopt. Now, after hitting adopt a pop-up window will come up like so...

Ok' is automatically highlighted, meaning if you hit enter, that would be the accepted choice. HIT ENTER. Very fast! Don't give it time to even go all the way up. Just go: click Adopt, hit enter on your keyboard. If the adoption is successful, you will be taken to your Quick Ref page to look at your shiny new pet. :3
Peer to Peer Transfer
Use the same steps, just omit having two browsers open. As an adopter and pounder, you really only need one each. It is VERY important that the Pounder give the Adopter an exact time. And it is VERY important that the Adopter refresh at that time of pounding. Once you see the pet forming follow through with your adoption process.
This is in no way a replacement for the cushy use of your monthly transfer function. But if you've already used it, you're desperate, or you just don't want to waste it for that purple gelert, this is the next best thing to a QAL.
User Tips!
From hanna_xu -
When I pounded, since we had to click Pound five times.
Each time I click the button I practiced going on the other screen. Refreshing, clicking adopt, and clicking enter.
It also may be good to put something about putting the browsers side by side so you can quickly change
Great idea! Practice makes perfect, and the browser idea would add to the speed you need for a perfect QMA.
