...a harsh miserable place.
That's the first thought that comes to you as you look out over the frozen tundra stretched out before you. Not a trace of plant or animal life can be seen, even from your perch high up on the ridge. You shake snow off your arms, muttering to yourself, as you try and recall what brought you to this bitterly cold region to begin with.
While you contemplate your current situation you hear a small cough behind you. Startled, you quickly spin around, slipping on the ice and falling on your rear in the most ungraceful manner.
Standing before you is a white draikess, half covered from the falling snow. She chuckles lightly to herself and shakes the snow from her feathery white wings.
Sorry to have startled you.
Her ice blue eyes curiously give you a good look up and down. Satisfied, she leisurely walks over and sits down next you. She raises her tail up, giving you something to grab onto while you find your footing. Her attention then turns to the view you had been cursing a second earlier. She takes a deep breath and sighs contently.
She eyes you slyly.
Though... not everyone here may think so.
She gently laughs as you turn to look away from her knowing stare.
I suppose at first glimpse when you look out over this vast expanse of white land and grey sea, you may only see a barren wasteland of ice and snow, devoid of life and color, completely uninhabitable.
You might think that the only creatures who could possibly carve out an existence in such a frigid climate must be a ferocious group as cold and unforgiving as this environment they somehow call home. I, my dear traveler, wish to correct you in this.
She dips her head to you in greeting.
My name is Naletta and I call this particular patch of ice my home. I do hope you will humor me and allow me to show you the beauty and wonder that this land has to offer. I must admit I do not come across strangers here often and you're presence intrigues me.
She stands and begins to head down the path way. She stops to look back at you.
Well, are you coming?
Seeing no other choice, you set out after the draikess.

Nal is a rare species of feathered snow draik and displays pride at this fact. If you catch a glimpse of her, consider yourself lucky. Quick to disappear, Naletta is peaceful by nature and would rather use her natural born talents in ice magic as a quick means of escape from confrontation. That doesn't mean cornering her is a good idea though. She is a bit of a loner though she does have a tendency to be more open to her own species.

gliding over the sea
The ice crunches under your feet as you hurry to keep up with the white draikess. The snow fall begins to pick up and Nal stretches a feathery wing over you to shelter you from the flurry's barrage. You immediately notice a warmth emanating off her wing. Glancing at you, she arks her neck proudly.
My wings keep me warm during the bitterest nights, they're one of my many adaptations for surviving the cold.
She stops and lifts a pale hand to show you the set of sharp claws at the end of each finger. The palm of her hand is covered in thick scales and appears to be very rough.
Perfect for gripping the ice or grabbing a delicious fish from the sea.
She clicks her claws together and resumes her march down the pathway.
I've lived here for quite a long time now, ever since I left the nest. Would you like to hear about my draikling years? Well, truthfully there really isn't much to tell. You see I was born in a snowy region far north from here.
I hatched from an ice blue egg on a nest made of snow white feathers. Our home was located at the top of a mountain in a warm little cave guarded
by my father and mother. I was their only hatchling at the time, which left all their attention for me.
My father was strong and proud; my mother, beautiful and kind. Everything I ever needed to know about being a draik and surviving in the frozen lands, I learned from them. Flying, fishing, hiding, even how to harness and use my ice magic.
When I was old enough I bid them farewell and set out to find my own home. I do still think of them from time to time and wonder if they are well. But we
are a solitary kind and I really don't mind being alone. I prefer the peace and quite actually.
I flew for quite a distance before touching down on this very ridge. It was night and the polar lights were in full array. It was very breath taking, the ribbons of light dancing across the dark sky dressed in hues of purple, green and blue. I knew right then that this was to be my home.
While Naletta continues to talk about the beautiful view from her ridge, you feel something soft and warm land on your shoulder.
Looking over you are surprised to see a very fluffy white faellie looking back out you with curious black eyes.
It twitches an ear and takes off with its tiny wings to land on Nal's tail. The Faellie puffs up its own tail, looks up at Nal and points to you. The draik laughs and pats the faellie gently on the head.
It's alright Luna, this is our new friend. I'm showing them the way down the mountain.
The faellie nods and looks back at you curiously.
This is Luna, my little companion. I found her not to long ago and decided to look after her. She is really sweet once you get to know her.
She loves playing in the snow and her keen sense of smell can find rare snow berries hidden deep in the ice. Plus she is quite the little dancer. Watch.
Much to your surprise, Naletta begins to sing a soft yet hauntingly beautiful tune, to which the faellie perks her ears up to.
Luna closes her eyes and starts to slowly sway to the rhythm of the song.
You watch, fascinated, as the faellie jumps and twirl keeping pace with the strange melody.
The song come to an end and the faellie stops twirling, turns and bows. Naletta shakes her head.
She is a little show off isn't she?
So...do you have any goals you are working towards? Maybe one you just completed?
There's nothing quite like the feeling of accomplishing something you set out to do, is there? And I happen to have a few goals of my own I would love
to complete. Maybe one day...
