Information
Ashes ashes we all fall down

name: naex
gender: male
age: ageless
form: dragon (draik)
length: 18 ft (nose to tail)
height: 5 ft (at shoulder), 8 ft (at forehead)
occupation: maintainer of myths and fairytales
sanity: quite mad
alter-ego: xaen
personality: maintaining fairytales is not as easy as it sounds. Naex not only has to preserve the tales and retell them to whomever will listen, but he is also responsible for maintaining the boundary between the land of legends and the real world. The only way to keep the fairytale creatures content, Naex has to spread their stories far and wide. As long as people know their stories, Naex is able to keep characters like the Big Bad Wolf and Snow White where they belong...Between the pages of books, as the stuff of legends. Of course, they are just as real as Naex is himself...Not completely real, but real enough to wreak havoc. Thus, Naex is more than just a little off.

Although charismatic and charming in appearance, as he certainly is a silvertongued little devil, most are thrown off by his quiet little mutterings to himself. Be they between discontent mythic creatures, or his other self, Xaen, who exists fully only in the fantasy world, and partially in the real world. To the rest of the world, they appear to exist only in his head. And it is true, Naex is insane. He's as old as the stories he tells, and every bit as mad as their inventors. He cannot process the world around him, he cannot relate to other people, as drawn to him they can be. Disconcerting as his appearance may be, he's manipulative like nothing else. He'd have to be -- he doesn't even talk. His mouth remains sewn completely shut, as words emanate from him in a perfectly audible manner.

Beneath the odd twitches and painful eloquence, Naex has all the maturity of a toddler. He is selfish, greedy, and cares naught for others. Naex's emotions are also extremely volatile, and often reach towards polar extremes, and can change several times in the course of ten minutes. He's also very narrow sighted, and truly, the only thing he cares for is his occupation. Naex is extremely prone to obsession, and although usually his job holds his obsession, he has been known to branch out before.

In other words, Naex is a pretty creepy guy...And Xaen is even worse.

alternative form: human
corporeal?: 98%
height: 6'2 ft
body type: lean, lanky
complexion: light
hair: spiky, dark green
makeup: it's uncertain whether the orange around his eyes and his black lips are makeup or natural -- he doesn't say
mouth: the threads on his mouth are the same length as the ones on his mouth as a dragon, thus, he can open it slightly
clothing: long coats, pinstripe, patterns, top hats, white gloves, 19th century style with occasional touches of older aristocracy, often well-worn
explanation: Although Naex's true form is a dragon, Naex is not fully a creature of this world. Thus, he possesses the ability to change himself. He has only managed to perfect one form, the one he decided would be most useful for himself...Human. Even so, his human form isn't completely there. It's more like an illusion he casts, that he inhabits. There's two percent of him that isn't there, that's really lurking in the mass that is his true body. Perhaps your hand can't pass through him, but if you touch this illusion, there's something off about the texture. It feels like there should be...More to it. But of course, few know this, because Naex doesn't let many near him.

So what happens to his real body, if this isn't really him?

It's hard to tell. It's similar to when Xaen appears...Except Xaen can appear while Naex is still visible, or when he isn't. Perhaps then, Naex really isn't there at all?

The Monster Within
The Sandman's coming in his train of cars

name: xean
form: dragon
corporeal?: 32% real world, 84% "fake" world
height: 5 ft (at shoulder), 9 feet (at forehead)
length: 22 ft
eyes: four, gold, different sized, in a row on top of his head
occupation: personally monitoring fairytales
sanity: non-existant
alter-ego: naex
alternative form:human
corporeal?: 4% real world, 67% "fake" world
height: 6'4 feet
build: very thin
eyes: golden, with an extra one above each "normal" eye
complexion: nearly transparent
hair: long, straight, and golden
clothing: white cape, coat, pants, and boots, occasionally with gold trimmings

background: In the beginning, when storytelling was created, Naex appeared. He wasn't born, per say, in fact, he knows not how he came to existence. He accepted the job he was "born" to complete, and at first, there were no complaints, no problems. In fact, he never complained, but after decades, and later centuries, something started to go wrong. There were more people, more stories. Naex struggled to control them all, and to keep the imaginary...Well...Imaginary. It was after the pressure became too much, that he snapped. Subconsciously, he exercised a power he was only dimly aware of.

Naex could create things with his mind, that would exist in the fairytale world he was the keeper of.

In need for help, Naex created himself. He compiled all the aspects he believed to be his personality traits, and created another being. However, at that point, Naex was severely deluded, and the creature produced was simply the product of a confused and twisted mind. It was known as Xaen, and was exactly the opposite of what romantic ideas Naex had for it.

Xean exists in the fairytale world, tending to its characters and fables as he was created to do. However, much as Naex does, he has the ability to cross the bridge into the other world, or the real world, for his example. He isn't there completely, and when he appears, Naex is sometimes present, and sometimes isn't. They are, essentially, the same person, but they both seem to exist, and Naex seems perfectly capable of talking to Xean at any time. It's peculiar when he does this, and downright terrifying when Xean decides to bridge the gap and appear himself.
