This is a place where fans of the species can celebrate those cheeky little Neopians that we know as Ixi, as well as show off their amazing painted pets. If you're new to Ixi adoration and want to learn more about the species, feel free to have a look around as we have lots of information and images to make you fall in love with Ixi as much as we have.

July 11th was IXI DAY and some truly fantastic goodies were released for 2009! Ixi can now be painted Gold and Zombie and some cute outfits have been created just for Ixi; one set is for earthy, pretty girls while the other will have you boy Ixi looking like a spunky aviator.

This year is certainly much better than 2008's disappointing offering (have all those items even been released yet??) so YAY IXI!

Thanks to EVERYONE who voted for Forixine in the Beauty Contest. We finally snagged that Golden BC trophy placing first in species and sixth overall for the whole competition!! Wow!!

Forixine has placed in the Beauty Contest again - another stunning silver trophy!!

Some might say, compared to other Species' celebration that Ixi Day was a little bare and disappointing this year but hey, who needs a special day to celebrate how GREAT Ixi are?!

We've done it! The IXIDEX has been awarded the Site Spotlight award. How exciting. As you can see, we have grown dramatically because of this and I'd like to thank everyone involved for helping this page become as amazing as it is.

Work started on the Ixi-dex the 23rd day of Celebrating, Year 8 and was the beginning of a dream for me. Having an Ixi directory is something I had been wanting for some time after becoming attached to my own wonderful Ixi. I have also always loved art, taught myself coding and this seemed like a great place to express my creativity and love for one of Neopia's under-rated species. We officially opened on the 31st day of Celebrating, Year 8 and received an overwhelming welcome into the Neopian world. Thanks to everyone who has sent me advice, compliments, critisims and of course your Ixi information!!

The Ixi-dex was inspired by some of the other amazing directories out there, such as Impish Ixi, FAE and Scurvy Scallywags and will hopefully be just as successful.

Ixi are a cheeky little creature originating from Meridell though they can now be found all throughout Neopia. They are going strong with over five million of them in existence. That's a lot of Ixi! Oh yeah, in case you didn't know how exactly to pronounce the plural of Ixi, it's the same - IXI! Currently they are the 16th most popular species on Neopets. How could you resist their charm and naughty little grins? They make the perfect pet as they are entertaining, loyal and lots of fun. Due to their popularity they have also been released in some of the most amazing colours and are continually undergoing transformations.

Ixi posses many admirable traits - creativity, loyalty, generosity and defy the odds with their courage and persistence. This is proven by some of the well known Ixi in Neopia.

Sophie
Sophie, also known as the "Swamp Witch," is one of the odder denizens in the Haunted Woods. Due to her own preference, she lives alone in a shack that rests in swamplands. She is known for her love of Meowclops and rather harsh personality, though inwardly she is a good Neopian. She has recently become more well known through the Haunted Woods plot where her childhood was uncovered and the real Sophie (not the grumpy, evil witch many believed her to be) could shine through.

Nabile
Born in one of the poorest districts of Sakhmet, Nabile has been roaming the streets since a very young age. She uses her quick wit and smart thinking to provide many a meal for the Desert Scarabs. Nabile has honed her thievery to almost an art form and when Tomos and she get together, there isn't a merchant in Sakhmet that they couldn't get to part with a few coins. This pink beauty emerged in the Lost Desert plot and has made herself a very well known Ixi.

Tarla
Not many people knew about this persistent red Ixi before the flashy Neopets toolbar became available, but Tarla has been around for quite a while. She opened her first shop high in the snowy peaks of Terror Mountain after an arduous journey from the warmth of Meridell. Everyone knows and loves Tarla as the generous Ixi who gives away some amazing prizes as she's scurrying around Neopia collecting items for her shop. If you are lucky, you might receive something extra special!

Sinsi
Sinsi is a true Meridell Ixi through and through. She loves her homeland as much as anyone could and helped put it on the map as an entertaining place rather than a medieval, cheese rolling town. Through ambition she single-handedly created a challenging game called Shapeshifter, which baffles even the sharpest minds. One of her hobbies is coming up with new ideas to keep her friends amused and she always has a small velvet bag of dice in her possession.

Twisted Roses
Twisted Roses is an all girl rock band which first came onto the concert scene in 2003. Neopets was celebrating its 4th birthday and Tyrannia gained another amazing trio to draw in the crowds. Ix, the gorgeous White Ixi is the lead guitarist and struts her sassy hooves across the stage night after night. Commander Valka
No his name is not Commander Green Ixi, it's Valka and he is the leader of the Resistance. Commander Valka featured in the Return of Dr. Sloth plot, where the 'good guys' quashed another of Sloth's plans to take over Neopia. His team of experienced spies are scattered throughout Neopia, ensuring peace is maintained.

Ixi Scientist
The "Ixi Scientst", as he is known throughout Neopia is a spooky resident of the Haunted Woods, where his chemistry lab is home to experiments as sinister as he. Although we know little about this Ixi, he is proof of the intelligence (even if it's slightly warped) and commitment an Ixi is capable of.

Ilsa Ellits
The name might not sound familiar but this talented Ixi is the famous defender of Meridell's Yooyuball team. She is best known for her patented bounce passes. She does these by stripping the ball away from a forward and then heaving an outlet pass that bounces perfectly off one of the walls and right into the sling of a teammate. It has to be seen to be believed!

Mellow Mauraders
Mellow Mauraders are one of the newer bands. If you like the exciting sounds of the seas - a whimsical flute, jolly accordion and a violin that will make you want to get up and do a jig, you just have to see these Pirates play. I once heard their jar playing Ixi crewmate described as a "rather...icky Ixi with mange and flies buzzing about"; and that pretty much sums this Ixi up.

Ixi are no longer a Limited Edition pet in Neopia so there are many ways you can acquire one! Isn't that just the best news!

The most obvious way of getting an Ixi is simply to create one. This can be done by visiting the Create a Pet page and selecting an Ixi as your new darling. They come in the four standard colours of course - red, yellow, green and blue.

Morphing Potions can be used if you have a pet which isn't an Ixi and you think it might look better as one.
They come in a variety of Ixi colours and new ones are being added all the time. You can buy these from the Trading Post or Auction House and cost roughly between 50,000np and 4,000,000nps, depending on the colour.
Here are some of the colours currently available:

Paint brushes are a popular way of painting your Ixi, as long as he/she already is one.
Below is a list of paint brushes which will change your Ixi's colour. Remember some colours have not yet been released for Ixi yet, and these are the only paint brushes which will change Ixi appearances. These can cost between 30,000nps for a standard colour to over 2,000,000nps.

Ilenalea says: Be wise when bidding on paint brushes in the trades or auctions (or even buying in shops); ensure you are buying a paint brush and not a paint brush //plushie//. It can be easy to mistake the two and you could lose hundreds of thousands of hard earned neopoints. So always be extra careful when bidding on or buying. Also remember that there are retired paint brushes such as Stone and Glass which no longer work on any pet.

There are also a few rare colours that can only be received from the Secret Laboratory Ray.
You need to have collected all nine different pieces of the map to gain access.
The colours are Snot, Robot and Jelly

If you are very lucky, you might get a visit from the Fountain Faerie to complete one of her quests.
When you do successfully complete, ensure the Ixi you want to paint is your active pet and then return to the Rainbow Fountain. The Fountain Faerie will then ask you to chose which colour you would like to paint your pet as a reward. Have a good think about this as quests from the Fountain Faerie are quite rare!! Unfortunately there are a few colours which are beyond the Fountain Faerie's abilities - Royal being one of them.

When requesting for your Ixi to be added to the Ixidex please include the following information in your neomail:

- Your Ixi's name (either full name or nickname)
- Colour
- Gender
- Three words to describe your Ixi's personality.
- Roleplay Status (open or closed)
- Contact account

Please note: - with the new layout changes to the Neopets site, most pet lookups have been completely changed. I have left making any acorn adjustments for a few months but will now be slowly working my way through each Ixi to see who needs acorn updates. Also, if you have one of the newer Ixi colours please neomail me as I have not had any requests for these colours yet.

Since winning Site Spotlight I have had a few questions about adding Unpainted Ixi, so I have now added these catergories. Since there are SO many unpainted Ixi in Neopia however, your Ixi must qualify for an acorn to be listed. Sorry if this upsets anyone but I would be inundated (more so) with neomails if I allowed every Ixi to be added. For more information on this, visit the Frequently Asked Questions.

I really enjoy seeing the characters people give their pets and creative ways to decorate lookups. Because of this we have a creativity rating system of sorts, inspired by the Faerie Wings from the gorgeous FAE Faerie Listing. I loved the idea so much, I 'ixi-fied' it for our directory. If you have any questions about this feature, please check the Frequently Asked Questions before sending a neomail.

I honestly wasn't sure if I would need one of these sections but it appears I do! Which isn't a bad thing really; it means people aren't affraid to ask questions and help me get the bugs out of the directory. If you have a question which isn't already covered in this section, please don't hesitate to send me a neomail.

Q : Your pets are fantastic! Would they like some fanart??
((ok so maybe this isn't a FAQ, but its worth putting in XD))
A : *fweee* We would LOVE some fan art. I am a huge Ixi fan and think they are gorgeous, especially through the eyes of other talented artists! If you would like to give up some of your dear time to create some art for one of my Ixi, please let me know! I will adore you forever XD

Q : My Ixi is a normal colour (green, red, blue or yellow) - can I enter them in the Ixidex??
A : I have been really busy but have finally found the time to add these four colours to the list. There are restrictions however as to which "normal" coloured Ixi can be added - that they must qualify for at least one acorn. You can imagine how many unpaited Ixi there are in Neopia and I really don't want my Ixidex to be huge and messy in appearance.

Q : My Ixi's details have changed
(i.e. higher level, new creative stuff, role play has opened/closed, etc)
A : Just send me a neomail with the details that have changed and I will check them out and change the Ixidex where needed.

Q : Can I tell my friend who has an Ixi about your Ixidex?
A: That would be great! The more the merrier!

Q : What do each of those acorns //really// mean?
((the main reason this new section is here ^_^))
A : The acorns are to distinguish the more "worked on" pets from the others listed and are an easy way to see which Ixi might have something extra special about them.
This is what each of the acorn colours mean, in detail:

- Bronze shows high stats (which we will classify as Level 25+, as most directories do). I sometimes miss this when adding an Ixi, so if your Ixi is Level 25 or above, please include this in your neomail. If your Ixi is already added and has recently achieved this (or was already Level 25+ and I missed it), please send me a message to keep me up to date.

- A Green Acorn is an Ixi with an interesting and original personality. Just having "happy, sweet, smart" isn't really that creative so to receive this acorn, your pet might have a story or more detailed description. It's not overly hard to get a green acorn but sometimes I am a little picky.

- Pretty Purple Acorns stand for Artwork. This can be either on your pets lookup or petpage (If it is located somewhere else, please direct me to it). Adoptables / makeables don't count as "art" for your pet because you didn't actually do the hard stuff! XD

- Gold is for a Custom Lookup / Petpage about your pet. Premades are not accepted as "Custom", neither is simply changing text colours. The Lookup must be appropriate to your particular Ixi and flow well. This is another section I have to be picky with so if you see an Ixi with a Gold Acorn, chances are they have a little something special on their lookup or petpage. Petpages must also be pleasing to the eye and about your Ixi.

- The Toy Acorn represents a customised Ixi. These Ixi have backgrounds, clothing, accessories, etc. This is a new feature so if you update your Ixi please make me aware so I can award you with a new acorn! Note: standard backgrounds (starry red, yellow, green and blue) are not classed as custom. Sorry!
