Mental Illness: Gera suffers from Dissociative Fugue, causing her to forget everything about her past. She doesn't remember what her name was, how she became a genie, or anything. If she ever came in contact with someone in her past, or returned to where she actually grew up, she would remember, but not being in constant contact people/places in her past has given her a blank.
