Mishioko

The night is silent on the beach of Kiko lake save for the lapping of waves. The moon is in the third quarter, nothing special or ominous. The wind is surprisingly gentle and the sand is surprisingly soft. The playful wind pulls at your hair on this cloudless night.

The stars are so bright and clear. You spot Orion, Taurus, Cassiopeia, the Pleidies, and Cygnus. The Milky way is painfully obvious. Something blue flashes, a meteor. The star's bright stare is almost taunting you, daring you to go up to them.

As you contemplate the beauty, you see a large splash of gold soar across the sky. Was it your imagination? After awhile, when it doesn't come back, you settle down again. Just when you get comfortable, is streaks across again. Stunned, you don't realize that the creature making the flashes is right in front of you.

She is of hissi shape, but looks like no other hissi you've seen before. She speaks with out moving her lips, in fact, she has no facial features. "Salutations." Her voice is alto. It seems as if she was a piece of night sky that fell to the Earth. Her body seems to be a hissi shaped looking glass to the cosmos, and her wings seem to be a portal to a galaxy cluster.

She cocks her head, maybe, its hard to tell. She waits for your reply, but you take to long. "I am Mishioko." She attempts to get a word out of you and fails. She emits a sound similar to a sigh. "Are you deaf? If you are, then you won't mind my speaking." She curls her short body under her.

Fallen

No one saw the warped space, the twisted atmosphere, or the piece of broken sky. No one saw the hissi slam into the ground. The desert sand blew as is always did, but left no scratch on the shadowy creature that had been dropped there.

By the time the sun had risen, the shadowy creature had gone. The sand left no trace of her tumble. By noon, she had made it to the edge of the desert. She hid from the creatures despite her similar shape. She didn't see them so much as feel them. she understood the thoughts they were conveying, but not the names for these thoughts.

Slinking behind a rock, she watched a pair communicate. The words meant nothing, but she felt the flow. One had wronged the other, but the other concealed the disdain. The feelings slowly seeped into her, she could now feel disdain. Someone told a pun, but the ideas weren't funny as the words were.

It was as if she had just found her body. She knew not caution and went out to the people. She was bewildered, something she disliked, something she harbored disdain for. Silence, no thoughts conveyed. She was ever so uncomfortable. The crowd began an uproar and she became I.

Broken Cosmos

I fled the people and their feelings. Too much at once, too much to bear, too many minds. I flew higher and higher to the stars, perhaps I could make it back. Perhaps I could get home. The clouds drifted past me as I beat my wings. My shoulders became sore but I still beat the air. Even after I surpassed the atmosphere I beat my wings.

It wasn't until quite awhile I realized my wings were only for show. Or so I thought. I could move with perfect freedom with out moving my limbs. I tapped energy sources far greater than any thought before. I was... tired.
