Here are some messages of love and dedication from members of the Meridell Knights Year 11, to the Meridell Knights. Hopefully to provide some inspiration and motivation whenever it's needed.

Stephi

I'd just like to express how much I love you all (and all those that have gone to sleep or are busy). We've had some highs and some very lows over the last 5 years. We've gained some amazing players and lost some too. We've been beaten to a pulp by DC again and again... but what do you expect from a world that's been bested twice by us? lol

Despite our defeats, every year we work our butts off and play as long as we possibly can. To be perfectly honest I think Meridell has the most dedicated players. We miss school/work, put off cleaning/ family/ classes/ studying/ obligations, and we play our fingers to the bone all simply for some people all around the world that like the same team/colours/time period we do.

People tease me all the time because I play Neopets and they make fun because I spend all day and night playing 4 super boring games. But I am really addicted to Neo and the AC... and I blame you guys XD

Now, just remember this moment when we're in such a great place and we're all very optimistic toward the results because its inevitable that we will lose again at some point, everyone does. Please dont let a loss change your passion for the game and your team. We are all here to get Meridell to the top, we all want Meridell to be number 1. But if we lose something, we pick ourselves back up, dust ourselves off and start a new game of YYB.

We will take the time to say "too bad", but each win or loss is only a small part of a huge competition. Meridell is quite well known for coming back against unbeatable odds and for loyalty to each other. SO LET'S SHOW THEM WHAT WE'VE GOT!!!

This is probably the only Altador Cup where I have been what I would consider active.

I dabbled at most, but I always joined Meridell (except ACIV where I forgot to sign up on time) because I loved Meridell. I have worked hard to support Meridell since the first Meridell War. I think the reason we are the team we are is because every single one of us shares a feeling similar to that.

We are not here for personal glory, though when it comes our way it is nice, but we are fighting for Meridell, for the Team, and for each other. Our efforts these past couple days has been apparent, where we have set record highs, scoring in each game. Tomorrow is the last match of Round 1, and we need to bring our A game. Then we will have a nice days rest.

Then we can come back and prove to everyone that we did not get here by accident, and that this is the Year of the Knight. So, despite today's results, I just want you all to know two things: We deserve to pat ourselvs on the back, and that I am truly proud to be able to call all of you my teammates. GO MERIDELL!

Thank you. Thank you for being the best team ever. Thank you for giving me one of the most unique feelings of being on a team. Though we are all from all over the world, we share one crazy thing: We LOVE Meridell! We've stuck with our land, our team, our King, through wars and peace, and through 5 Altador Cups. We've had highs, lows, and so-sos. But we have never faltered. We've been through the thick and thin, sometimes being the best YYB squad (this year!), and sometimes getting beaten up for days on end by other teams. But all in all, you guys give me a sense of pride. A sense of devotion. And that is why I thank you, every single Meridellian out there, for being with this team, for devoting your time and energy, and for always giving 100%. Thank you. (:

SO..... LET'S WIN THIS CUP!

Irini

Irini has written a story about Neopets and Meridell which can be found on her petpage. This is an excerpt from that story :)

...They called themselves Meridell Knights, all dressed in shining armours fighting hard in the field, and in the side activities, and having breaks in between, chatting, laughing, teasing one another, even dancing on that round table of theirs. She was a little reluctant when she first introduced herself but they were so welcoming and a first bunch of them immediately asked her to become their Neopian friend. That was the first time she took off her fairy wings and put on her Meridell Knight armour. It was wooden at first and not shiny at all but she wore it with pride and entered the ball field determined to follow her fellow Knights in each and every step they would take during the whole tournament...

...She knew there would be many more fights she would have to face in Neopia, many more obstacles she would have to overcome, many more and better prizes she would win in the future. But that shining silver shield with the sparkling blue gem, her first well deserved Neopian Prize, would remain the sweetest memory..."

When opponents come to our boards to ask "How are you guys doing so well?" and "What's your secret??" I know the answer, but I don't want to tell them. Not because I'm a bad sport, but because it would sound like I was lying.

But really, and I think you know this: the secret to Meridell's success is…*whispers*... The power of LOVE.

It unites completely different people in different ways, whether its our love for the land, our interest in an era of chivalry, a passion for cheese and potatoes, or a fierce desire to help a good team win…all of that is how we manage to play as hard as we do, day in and day out.

Through the years I used to LIVE at other boards (Games…Role Playing…Customisation) but I've never seen a group that can chat and compete with each other without drama…It's a modern day miracle!

You don't have to look far to see how unique we are. Some teams are huge, intimidating, and able to put up scores 4 times the size of ours; but usually those boards are rife with drama and infighting among team members struggling for control. Other teams are smaller, with a family of members whose pride of their land rivals or even surpasses ours; but not all of them have the patience it would take to complete one of Stephi's daily challenges…like we do. :P

And to the teams who are similar to us…your Kreludors, and your Maraquas…we're different from them as well. Win or lose, where else do you see so many group hugs and spontaneous speeches 24/7? That's the difference that makes us come back to play harder the next day, even after a loss. We all do our best for each other, and that's why we're so successful! Meridell boards are one of the happiest, if not mushiest places to be. And I'm so glad I chose this team, and that you guys did too.

Viva Meridell!

If I had to choose one word to sum up Meridell, it would be unity.

After that, I would simply say home.

Our team is a patchwork quilt of people, Paladins, Hunters and Jesters, Nobles, stolid Farmers and charming Misfits, maybe even a Rogue or two (plus one winged dragon with a cat's head and one beefy arm sticking out of her neck--but that's another story =^.-=). No matter what brought us to this point we are all united in our love for our land and for each other, for our proud and ancient way of life, and by simple old-fashioned companionship on our shared but different journeys. We encourage each other in all our efforts; and we encourage each other to be ourselves, and more, to be insane.

To view seeming doom with quiet assurance and victory as never beyond our grasp, to dance and sing and jump on furniture or any other thing that crosses our minds, and in short be generally irrepressible and incorrigible, to work hard and play hard at all of our goals whether they're "possible" or not, to spin castles from the air and tales from the heart and anything else we want or need from pure imagination, and last but not least to keep fighting to prove the Cup belongs with us, even when it means fighting our own weariness and boredom and even our own lives, ever trying to pluck us away from our dream.

Allow me to offer this as proof of our unshakable unity and delightful insanity: Last year I came to Meridell (it was my first AC! Ah, memories), and it was mostly because of this strangely drawing sense of unity and a hard-working mentally I sensed here, but very likely the next greatest reason is simply that I enjoy slapping people with fish.

Tell me true my friends, is there any other team where that would even be possible? Here I have found my home, and know that even when I am not understood I am still loved and respected, and so I recount this strange fact bold-faced and unashamed. (P.S. I love you all! :3)

Last year was a difficult year for us, wrought with frustrations brought about by the unexpected fame gained by our previous efforts, but even so our team shone bright in my eyes; we gained many worthy souls who fought side by side with the veterans, and I saw the heart of our team for the gem it truly is and knew I could never be parted from it. This year our successes have been greater than all of those frustrations, and we have achieved the heights I always felt in my heart and my gut we could reach and from which I was baffled to find we ever just slipped before.

I think it is the mark of our character that we face victory with shared joy and adversity with determination, and though the world treads us down and times become hard our spirit is indomitable and we very simply Endure, one day to Rise again when least expected. It has proven equally true of Meridell the land and Meridell the team. To all that have stayed with us through thick and thin I say, thank you, your patience is at long last rewarded! To those who have newly joined us I say, welcome! May your stay be as filled with friendship and peace as mine. I hope you will consider returning in the future. =^.^= You all warm my dracono-felid heart, and make my home my home.

I've never been a sports – oriented person. My parents were both star athletes when they were younger, but I must have missed out on that gene. I can't throw a ball to safe my life – most of the time they'd go the opposite way I aimed them. I can't hit anything with a bat either, except my sister's head. She always manages to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. No one ever picks me for sports teams, and I don't blame them. And well, you get the idea. I'm a nerd through and through, and a very uncoordinated one at that.

When ACII came around, I was 13 years old and fairly new to the boards. I'd tried to play in ACI, but a terrible internet connection kept yyb from loading, so I quit and became a freeloader on Faerieland. But for ACII, I wanted something different, so I lurked on the boards. The first board I stumbled upon was MAK, and I instantly fell in love. Everyone was nutty, random, and kind. I felt right at home from the get-go, and I knew where I belonged. No one seemed to care that I wasn't super great at yyb, as long as I kept playing. That was my first year on Meridell, the team I will be on until I stop playing Neopets.

It's the people I met that first year that kept me playing, and still keep me playing. Whenever I feel down or weary, I think about all of you Meridellians, and find strength knowing that I'm not alone. When I want to quit and never play yyb again, I know there are others there, fighting with themselves too. When we loose, we loose together. And when we win, it is only by our combined efforts. We need everyone, veterans and novices alike, to win, and we're not afraid to admit it. We're a tight knit family, one that can not be shaken by hard times and sleepless nights. We're there for each other, and we always will be.

So thank you Meridell, for making a nerd feel like an athlete, even if it's only in a virtual world.

Well, the time we've been preparing for is finally here everyone. The chain of powerhouses, with KL in the mix somewhere.

No matter what, I know all of us will do our best to win these matches and prove we're top tier material =3

Even if we manage to drop down to 5th, like Stephi said, be proud because we've tasted the sweet nectar of 2nd place, the highest MD has ever been at!

So be proud, humble, and get ready for the matches of your life! We must go out with a bang, and remember, take a break when you need it. We can hold down the castle while you rest ;D

Only a few days until the bye day, so get your YYBing and side games out like crazy during these powerhouse days!

I love you all, and I truly admire all of your hard work!

*Hugs everyone then runs off to get ready*

Knights.. this is it.... no matter what happens, we can be proud of our performance. We need nothing short of a miracle to make 4th now. But I say we can do it. What does it mean to be a KNIGHT, to be FEARLESS and to be STRONG. This has been a roller coaster cup, But all of us can say today, we can be PROUD to be a knight, PROUD to bring honor to Meridell. Fight for eachother, this is IT! MERIDELL

Knights.. do this for MERIDELL, for US, for PRIDE, for our TEAM MATES, who worked their butts off, COME ON KNIGHTS, it is NOT OVER, there are two more games left, and we must DO IT NOW, not wonder about "what if" but we must do it.

I'm very proud to have been team mates with you people for 5 years, I can't imagine myself on another team, not come on, let's BEAT LD!

Come on, Knights! Let us shine our spirits brightly and fight for 5th place! For the Maraquan lurkers, dont count us out! Just because you go through 4 boards a day and have about 4x as many people still trying, doesnt mean we're out! We have the willpower, and we WILL fight!

Emphasis on MIGHT. I really dunno what TNT is planning this year, sometimes they do annoying things.

Listen. I stayed up for the results last year, on this very day. The fight against RI for 9th place. My first ever succession to stay awake. When we lost, my heart broke into a billion little pieces. I felt awful. But then, I threw away the past, and looked foward to the fight against VP for 11th!

Who is with me, Knights? Will we stand around, and llet MQ just wash us out? Or will we fight, and prove all the anti-Meridell naysayers wrong! We shall prove that Meridell, the land of determination and bravery, the kindered Knight spirit still flows in our veins!! We can prove Meriell has the power to rise back, to prove we are Still a Powerhouse! We will fight, for victory!

So join me, fellow Knights of Meridell, as we bravely sacrifice time in real life, time with friends, family, and the other important things we cherish as we melt our brains away, staring at a computer screen for the hope that we can pull off that win! Meridell for FIFTH PLACE! Meridell shall prevail, as long as we never give up hope!

Onward, Knights!!

-end rant/speech-

Lady Sierra

Motivator called hope
Meridell has something that many other powerhouses may never have- hope.

What is hope?

Hope is the power having the optimism to carry on.

Hope is the power of escaping the dungeon and save your land from an evil overlord. Hope is the power of moving to a new land- away from all of your friends- to save a land from certain evil. Hope is power of falling off a giant floating rock while in battle, and come back to and defeat the (other) evil overlord. Hope is the power of defeating the Darkest Faerie when you are only a beginning knight. Hope the power of is doing anything to prove your innocence.

Once you look around this place- Meridell is all about hope.

What makes me say some powerhouses don't have this? Well, here is a quote from a REAL person from the DC boards, "Hope is nothing."

He can't be more wrong. (Partially because he is on DC, but 99.9999999% because of that quote)

What most people don't realize that hope is a seed. And if you water it with love, bravery, and dedication- it sprouts into success and victory.

Without the little seeds, you can have all of the water and land you want- and you will never have any success in making that plant grow.

Meridell is the land of hope, the land of strength, the land of bravery. It is time to harness that power and bring it to the Altador Cup!
