NeoQuest I FAQ

Q. What is NeoQuest?
A. Simply put, NeoQuest is a Role Play Game (RPG for short)! Originally released on October 15, 2001, NeoQuest is the brainchild of Mr. Insane who has also coded Deadly Dice, Sewage Surfer, and the Faerie Crossword, among other games. In it, you play a white Lupe who sets off in search of the source of the disdain that is causing an oppression in Neopia. Along the way, you encounter and fight monsters and bosses to gain experience. You can also forge your own weapons to aid in your final goal: Find and defeat the evil Xantan. You gain Neopoints for defeating bosses as well as a trophy and a special NP bonus at the end. You can find NeoQuest in the Puzzles section of the game room.

Q. What level do I have to be for *insert boss here*?
A. We actually have a page dedicated to just that. You can find it by searching NeoQuestBossLevels and visiting his petpage. It's an easy name to remember. =D

Q. Where can I find some good maps?
A. Personally, I use 'Meowpillay's NeoQuest II Guide' for my NQ2 map needs. There's also the 'In Depth NeoQuest Guide'. You can find both by using google.

Q. I was half way through my game and it started me again at the beginning! What should I do.
A.
First, check if you changed your active pet. Each of your pets can play its own NeoQuest game. If you changed your active pet, it will start you from the beginning of the game. Simply change it back to whatever pet you were using to play the game.

Q. I just started a new game but I don't know how I should spend my skill points.
A. If you are playing Neoquest 1, I suggest you put your skills into life, shock and spectral. But on life, don't but them in resurrection.
However, if you are playing Neoquest2, you will have Rohane and I suggest you put your skills into the categories of Critical Attack, Innate Magic Resistance, Innate Melee Haste & Damage Increase. Though, increase them gradually so you aren't imbalanced. You can also visit VelmsNeoQuestHelp if you need some level advice.

Q. What level should I be before going to Jub hill place?
A. There's no specified level, you should experiment with levels if it's just out and around. However, if it's like some sort of cave then you may want to know the level. Also, if you like to be a bit 'freestyle' so to speak, then you can just go ahead and try the place out, see if you can survive, if you die then train a bit more and try again.

Q. I defeated Xantan and got his ring. Where do I go and what do I do with this ring?
A. First, go back to Neopia City. Talk to the maker of weapons, which in this case you would be Eleus Batrin. I suggest you get life weapons -- that's my opinion though.

Q. When you get to the guardians of fire, ice, shock, spectral, and life magic, can you only kill one?
A. You can defeat all of them.

Q. Where is Leirobas?
A. Swamp Edge City.

Q. What happens if you die in NQ I?
A. You get sent back to Neopia City.

Q. Can you start Neoquest at evil or insane difficulty without playing normal difficulty?
A. No. In order to start evil, you have to beat normal. In order to start insane, you have to beat evil.

Q. Can I go back into the dark cave for a pelt of cave lupe after I beat the boss and teleport out of it?
A. Yes. It is possible to go back down into the cave.

Q. When I leave my computer, will it save my game? And, when I restart it, will I be where I left off?
A. The answer to both questions is: Yes. Your game saves automatically.

NeoQuest II FAQ

General:

Q. What is NeoQuest II?
A. NeoQuest II is a role playing game (non-flash) that can be found on the Puzzles Page of the game room. In it, you control a Blumaroo, named Rohane, and fight monsters. He and his companions travel through Meridell, Terror Mountain, the Lost Desert, the Haunted Woods and Faerieland in order to complete certain objectives. You gain Neopoints for defeating certain creatures and there is a prize, a trophy and a special NP bonus at the end.

Q. Is NeoQuest II a good source of neopoints and how long would you have to play for it to pay off?
A. Considering the "economy" of neopets and the prizes you receive for defeating the game on normal, evil, or insane, I do not believe that NeoQuest or NeoQuest II are good sources of NP. However, if you are in search of good battledome items, NeoQuest II is a great game for you to play. Be prepared to spend anywhere from weeks to months playing the games. If you actually like playing it, then it's good, but if you just want np, then you'd be better off playing the other games.

Q. What level do I have to be for *insert boss here*?
A. We actually have a page dedicated to just that. You can find it by searching NeoQuestBossLevels and visiting his petpage. It's an easy name to remember. =D

Q. How can I tell how many XP I need to obtain in order to level up?
A. The following formula will be able to help you. It is courtesy of digifort.com/idnq:

50x2 + 850x - 900 = XP Required for Level
where X = the level you are looking to obtain

Conversely, you can also find a table of the XP Required on NQ Boss Levels.

Q. Where can I find some good maps?
A. Personally, I use 'Meowpillay's NeoQuest II Guide' for my NQ2 map needs. There's also the 'In Depth NeoQuest Guide'. You can find both by using google.

Q. What's the max damage for Damage Shields?
A. The max damage for Damage Shields is 22.

Q. Which is better? Direct damage or Group Direct Damage?
A. In my opinion, Direct damage is much better than Group direct damage. Direct damage does a max of 100hp where as Group direct damage only does 64hp of damage.

Q. How do you use haste?
A. It something your characters automatically use if you spend points in that skill (which you should). Each character has their own haste skill. Visit VelmsNeoQuestHelp for more info on the skills and how to invest in them. As far as Group Haste, (A spell which Mipsy can cast) you have to cast it. Group Haste makes all of your party members go faster by a certain percentage which is based upon how many points you invested in that skill.

Q. Is Fathers Sword really the best weapon to use against Terask II?
A. It is best if your Critical Attacks and Damage Increase skills are maxxed. It only works on Terask II but it works in all game modes. There are rumours about how it gives you the worst prize. This is inaccurate. Prizes for NeoQuest II are given out at random. Father's Sword does not guarantee you the best nor the worst prize in the game. Give it a try sometime.

Chapter 1:

Q. What do I do? I just started a new game, but I don't know where to go first.
A. Well. You'll want to find the Dark Cave and beat the Miner Foreman. To get there, head west from Trestin Village until you can't go any further. Then head north. You will enter a bunch of trees. Keep going north. Eventually you will see a cave. Go in and keep heading south until you stumble upon gold mine. Keep in mind that no one knew where to go when NQII first came out. Sometimes it takes a little bit of getting lost but you'll find your way eventually. Don't give up!

Q. Where do I go after I defeat the Miner Foreman?
A. Upon exiting the cave, head east across the bridge and south toward White River. They will tell you about a wizard running amok that you must defeat to lower the bridge to cross the river.

Q. I went to the white river and they said a wizard had put a curse on the bridge. What do i do now?
A. You need to travel north east to the Underground Cave. Follow the puddles to the Lost Island. This will bring you to the Mysterious Tower. At the top of the tower is Zombom.

Q. I can't find the old hermit near the "Forest of the Eye." Where is he?
A. The hermit (a.k.a. Potraddo) can be found in the town of Lakeside. He is in the northern most corner, behind the building that houses the elders. You need to go down a path of trees to find him. Just head north and east until you come to an opening in the trees. Follow the opening to the west.

Q. I'm in the Lost City of Phorofor and Mipsy was killed by a dust guardian or something. How do i get her back?
A. One of three ways. The first way to resurrect Mipsy is by using a Resurrection Potion on her. The second way is to rest at an inn. The third way is this: all group members receive points after a battle, less if they need reviving -- but some all the same. If your dead member gets enough points to make it to the next level they will automatically be revived. Keep in mind, this only works if your defeated character died in the current battle. It will not work if you are already defeated and are trying to level up. Defeated characters gain no XP during battles.

Q. I'm in chapter one (Meridell) at Ramtor's castle and there's a door to the castle but I cant get in? Did I miss a key or something?
A. You need to go back to Meridell castle and fight Ramtor for the first time. Then and only then will Ramtor's Castle be available for you to invade. Happy head hunting.

Chapter 2:

Q. I just beat Kolvars and went to Happy Valley. How do I get to Scuzzy?
A.
Venture through the Lost Caves, out the other side. Travel around the top of the mountain and you will find the one you seek.

Q. I can't seem to beat Scuzzy! What should I do?
A.
Be at least level 28-30 (depending on game mode) for all characters. Make sure you've invested some skill points in your Innates and are carrying healing, damage, haste and slowing potions. Slow Scuzzy. Haste Rohane and Talinia. Use Rohane and Talinia to attack Scuzzy with their physical attacks. Use Mipsy to attack with Direct Damage. If you spent points in Group Direct Damage, use Mipsy to throw damage potions at Scuzzy.

Chapter 3:

Q. I have to find the gemstone, and it is supposed to be bellow the ruined city. And when I go north I keep bumping into the mountains. How in the world will I find the valley? Please help.
A. The Valley of kings is west of Waset Village. Go west first. Fight Revenant of the Dunes and save Lifira. Then go back to Waset Village and talk to her.

Q. I've defeated Revenant and spoke with Lifira at the temple. I'm back at the village but I cannot find Lifira. What do I do now?
A. One of two possible answers for you. The first answer is that when you left the temple Lifira didn't disappear (which she should). The second option is that you are not looking in the right place. Visit the top most right tent. The one with the high-pitched red roof. She's in the room with her baby sister.

Q. I can't find the first gem!
A. After you received the second half of the medallion from the Hermit (Alpha-three-seven-tango-echo-nine) he will tell you, "Travel due north from where I now stand, o mighty adventurers, until you come up against the northern mountains. Then you shall turn east, and proceed until your path is again blocked. There, at the foot of the cliffs, you shall find the buried treasure for which you seek!" He's got some pretty straight forward advice there. Head north until you hit the mountains. Then, staying up against the mountains, head east. You will find the first gem.

Q. The entrance to Zakharukh's Pyramid is blocked! Why!?!?!
A. Well it could be that, you haven't gotten all the medallion pieces.. or that you forgot to get the gemstone. Check in your inventory (in the game, dummy!) to see if you have the map on the medallion.

Q. What do I need to do and in order do I need to do it in order to make the gemstone in the lost desert appear?
A. Alright. Let's tackle this beast once and for all. The first thing you do is defeat Gebarn II. He will give you the first half of the medallion. Next, head to Waset village. You will discover that a girl is missing. In order to rescue Lifira, you need to fight the Revenant of Dunes. Head to the Valley of the Kings. It's west of Waset. Once you defeat him, she will be standing behind him to the east. Talk to her. Make sure that she disappears from the map. Head back to Waset Village. Talk to Lifira. You will get a code from her that will allow you to talk to Bukaru. "Alpha-three-seven-tango-echo-nine." He will tell you to go north until you hit the mountains. Then go east. Follow those instructions staying up against the mountains. You will stumble upon the second piece. Now that you have both the pieces, you are ready to fight Coltzan's Ghost. Head east, then south. You will run into a skieth. Go passed him and this will bring you to Coltzan's Ghost. Defeat him to get the third piece. It is in the barrel behind him. Do not forget to pick it up. Once you have all three pieces, examine the medallion. It's a map!! The gem is located where the X indicates on the map. Once you get the gem, the map will be completed. This will allow you to get into Zakharukh's Pyramid.

Chapter 4:

Q. In what order should I fight the Four Faeries?
A. It doesn't really matter, but most people prefer to fight them in this order: Fire, Dark, Water, then Earth. I, however, have a different strategy. Please refer to the NQ II Boss FAQ section.

Q. Should I fight Nox? Is it worth it?
A. Personally, I can't stand fighting Nox. I'm impatient. However, he gives good experience and extra weapons. If you are on normal or evil mode, I recommend at least trying to beat Nox. If you're on InSaNe! mode, I'd recommend skipping him... unless you truly are insane. Either way, be prepared for a long battle. Nox is probably the toughest boss in the game.

Chapter 5:

Q. In NQII, where's chapter 5?
A. Here's a breakdown of the chapters:

♠ Chapter 1 - Meridell
♠ Chapter 2 - Terror Mountain
♠ Chapter 3 - Lost Desert
♠ Chapter 4 - Haunted Woods
♠ Chapter 5 - Faerieland

NeoQuest II Boss FAQ

Q. In what order should I fight the Four Faeries?
A. Most people like to fight them in the following order: Fire, Dark, Water, then Earth. Most people also have problems taking them out in a timely manner and end up getting killed or almost killed. Here's the Stace of Spades Solution: Using Velm and his wonderful talent to mesmerize... Mezzie the Fire Faerie, then the Water Faerie, then the Dark Faerie. The Earth Faerie is immune to Memorization. Take her out first. While you're waiting for Velm's next turn, be sure to keep hitting her. She's the toughest so get her out of the way. Next, you want to take out the faerie that can direct-damage you... the Fire Faerie. She's easy. Keep the other's mezzied or slowed if your mezzie misses and keep yourself hasted. Once you take her out, take out the Water Faerie (the healer). Conversely, you can take out the Dark Faerie before the Water Faerie. It all depends on who is mezzied at what time. Use your judgment. If you do not have enough skill points in Velm's memorization skill, keep all the faeries slowed with slowing potions and keep yourself hasted. I recommend having at least 11 skill points invested in mezzie for this. Work's every time and I've never had a problem.
