It's been a long, long time since the glory days of warrior Clans. It's been a long, long time since ShadowClan lurked under dark trees, since ThunderClan played hero, since WindClan ran across open fields, since RiverClan swam through rivers upon rivers. Their names have faded into legend, so long ago that no cat remembers the name of the kittypet with the pelt of fire; only that old prophecy. But even so, it has faded into myth. It is forgotten. Merely a story of many.
May I share with you the story of LightClan?
Once, there were three Clans. These Clans went by the names of PoisonClan, IceClan and HollowClan. That was it. These Clans were not always united in the same land, but as they were driven out of their original territory, they met and thus became united in the same vast area. There was no LightClan yet, however; first, they were three, and first, there were borders. Oh, there were fights over where the border ended; of course, there were gatherings at every full moon when the moon hung happily in the sky and the stars twinkled far above the atmosphere.
But their peace did not last. Peace can never last.
Soon a war began amongst the twolegs. Many of the cats perished, but few were lucky enough to be spared from this fate. The cats of PoisonClan, IceClan and HollowClan watched as twolegs died, as their kittypets died. They watched as rogues and loners died, and they watched as their own Clanmates died. They could do nothing to stop it. They hardly knew what was causing these deaths; hardly knew that the very air they breathed had become poisonous.
Still, some of the strongest survived. Some even developed immunities in their genes against the poison air. Or so science would prove; the cats themselves are as unaware of it. And cats were not the only to be strong; not the only to develop immunities.
During this war the cats of the three Clans met up. All of them - from the oldest elder to the youngest kit - in the gathering area. The leaders at this time were dead. There were no deputies. The Clan cats argued, but StarClan spoke to them. It had already been proposed that the Clans should merge and become one, but the idea had been turned down. But StarClan's voices rang out, and this was the last time their words would ever echo in the cats ears for many, many moons.
You must unite, said the cats of StarClan, and allow Brackentail to become Brackenstar, the first leader of your new Clan.
And so, LightClan was formed.
The days of darkness became known as The Moons of Calamity by the cats of the Clan, and after those dark moons, after announcing Brackenstar as a leader, they never spoke again. StarClan has abandoned this Clan, LightClan. And LightClan has never forgotten StarClan.
But has StarClan really abandoned LightClan, or is there merely a barrier blocking the two from communicating?
Since those times, many moons have passed. LightClan suffered difficulties, but they were no obstacles difficulties that they had not already been given. They did not have any problem with rogues, though -- and soon, many came to believe that LightClan cats were the only cats left in the vast world. Twolegs are never seen any longer and none have gone looking for them; why should they? Hardly any remember the proper ceremonies in which StarClan was called upon by the leader, and Brackenstar was the last known leader who had truly been a proper leader with 9 lives.
Seasons upon seasons after the clan began to believe they were the only cats left alone, a group of rouges appeared. A patrol was sent out, then returned. A battle was waged,and the clan suffered losses. The next day, three more rouges appeared, chased LightClan's leader out, and one claimed himself as leader. It was a rule of Tyranny that lasted for moons before the trio was finally chased out. At this point, the clan lead a life with no leader, undecided about who should lead and the uncertainty causing the several fights. The apprentices left, seeking to make a clan where peace reigned. A few days after the apprentices left, the original leader returned, and things seemed to be peaceful at last.
This peace was short lived, however. Before the patrol sent out to find the apprentices could return, a fire broke out in the forest that LightClan called home. It surrounded the camp, devoured it. Some cats escaped before the fire closed it's circle. Others did not. Of those who were trapped, some managed to find shelter in tunnels that they stumbled into, leading them beneath the territory. Those who didn't died.
The cats of LightClan were now divided into three; those who lay beneath the territory that had once been theirs, those who managed to escape the fire, those who escaped before it trapped them, and the apprentices, who left long before. In this way, they made themselves clans.
EmberClan
The clan who escaped into the tunnels. They are aware that other cats must have survived the fire, but are trapped, unable to get out. The tunnels in which HollowClan once lived provide them with everything they need, things that the burnt forest above their heads no longer has.
CinderClan
The clan that escaped the fire before it trapped them. They only know of the apprentices, believing all those who are not a part of the apprentices nor with them to be dead. They left the charred forest in seek of new shelter, and find it in the north, by the lakes where IceClan once lived.
SmokeClan
The clan who were all once apprentices of LightClan. They escaped long before the fire came to be, and are living in what used to be an old twoleg village, backed by a dead forest. To them it seems that LightClan is dead. (note: These should all be YOUNG cats.)
When fire burns,
it rages through.
When Fire's gone,
The light is too.
Stats and Layouts
This layout was made for Nacht Ohne Sterne by our Overlord, Midnight. It was made as a matching set with the current guild layout, which is shown below this paragraph (and can be dragged to the URL bar for the full view). They are the 8th Version, made for Chapter 4 of our story.

We have 11 members as of March 24th, 2012. Our messages exceed 32000. We consider ourselves to be an active roleplaying guild, as someone is most certainly always on.
We are currently listed at these guild directories:

Thank you for listing our guild!

001. Literacy
We are a literate and up (lit+, literate+; whatever you want to call it) warrior cat roleplaying guild. This means that you are expected to follow all the grammar and punctuation rules. Some typos here and there are understood, and we understand that not everyone has perfect knowledge of these rules -- but don't be afraid to ask if you're not entirely sure the difference between something; everyone has their weak point. However, if the mistake is repetitive without change, we will begin to point it out to you. We do expect everyone to be at their best!
The idea is genrally
quality over quantity. Nevertheless, we believe that you cannot always
have quality without quantity, and thus we ask that you try your best to write at least 3 paragraphs in your roleplay posts. In OOC, we ask that you do not post a single word for a post as that can be classified as spamming.
002. Your Characters
When creating characters, you are expected to list their name, gender, rank, personality and appearance. Your character must be on a petpage of some sort and we ask that you have a layout on your page and make it look pretty, but that's not required. Make sure you say somewhere on the page that
you are the roleplayer of said character! For the most part, you have complete freedom -- if you're feeling a bit stuck, you should look at what others have done to get some ideas. Do not, however, steal their character. Character personality and appearance descriptions should be a sizable length of at least 7 sentences each, preferably more. Be descriptive! We do ask that your character does not have a history of being a rogue; before the first plot, LightClan never even realized there were other cats outside their territory -- so it's unlikely your 50-moon old warrior has been a member of LightClan for 44 moons!
There is a character limit of
seven. You cannot have the same prefix another member already has, and certain prefixes are prohibited in warrior names (refer to the
Name Page for more information). All characters you create must be approved by a council member, though your first character should be approved by
two council members, but it's not required.
Powerplaying and Godmoding are forbidden at Nacht ohne Sterne.
Powerplaying is defined as when you move another person's character in some way or form. This most commonly happens in battle and when your character is looking for another character, so be careful!
Godmoding is when your character takes on the attributes of a divine being; meaning they're impossible to beat/kill/etc and are above mortal standards! This tends to be easier to avoid than powerplaying, but sometimes you may suddenly change your mind about killing your character off from a deadly sickness and want them to recover somehow, so be careful: Always be sure what you're doing is really what you want to do! Both Powerplaying and Godmoding can happen by accident, so we will forgive you in certain circumstances, but just be careful and we won't
have to forgive you!
003. YOU and Nacht ohne Sterne
You are expected to be mature at NoS; do not pick on anyone and do not spam. Do not join our guild and immediately start calling out the characters we have, as our senior members will not do this to you. You're welcome to give out a few pointers if you've noticed anything strange, but do not come into our guild and say, "Flowerclaw is terrible! You should remake/kill her!" We will not tolerate this, no matter who you are.
Avoid getting in disagreements with other members; just because you think leaves are better than flowers doesn't mean you need to argue with someone about it! Debates are fine, but we have no need for drama.
It's fine to be fangirling over the newest installation in your favorite manga series, but don't spam the boards with it; we don't need to see three posts where you've quoted everything that ever happened in the series. And try to respect the fact that not everyone will love it -- everyone has different opinions, and you should try to avoid getting on someone's bad side!
As a member of Nacht ohne Sterne, we want you to have a size 1 font. We really, really, really want you to have a size one font -- it looks neater and more pro! But this is not required; if you prefer size 2 fonts, then you may keep it. Please avoid having a font with a size bigger than 2, though. You'll scare the kits.
OOC
is required in some way or form, and if you're switching from OOC to BIC, please make that obvious somehow as well!
Temporary rules may be mentioned on the boards but won't be listed here; such as prohibiting members from making any more kits when there's already a full nursery. To find out if there are any, currently, you should ask a council member!

Guild Ranks
We're boring and didn't come up with any unique names for you. But what does that matter when we came up with a whole unique and fun guild for you?
Newbie ||
Obviously, this is the where you start out when you join the guild. No more than a newbie to Nacht ohne Sterne, you are not eligible to do much of anything in this position -- under no circumstances are you allowed to roleplay while in this position! However, it's really easy to move to the next rank, so don't worry about that. We advise you use your time to create your first character.
Kit ||
After the newbie rank, you become a kit! Kudos to you -- you're officially a member of NoS now! You will be put into this rank after you've been in the guild for around an hour (give or take) and have gained five posts! You can ask a council member to move you into this rank if you think we've lost track of time or your post count.
Apprentice ||
Now at
50 posts, you're a bit better known in the guild. It's likely you've met your fair share of quite a few of our members at this point, if not all. At this point you might want to consider hosting a page for the guild; that's a nice thing to do, isn't it? (:
Warrior ||
You probably have
200 posts now. Been here a while, eh? And enjoying it, I hope! At this point you can be trusted to have a position in the plot -- you should ask one of the council members about that and we'll try to fit you in somewhere!
Senior Warrior ||
CONGRATULATIONS! You have
1000 posts and have been in the guild for at least four months. You're now one of the most senior members in the guild now. In this position, you can request to have the power to delete posts. When you've been in the guild for a whole year, you can request the power to make polls too!
The Council Members
At no point in time should you ever impersonate a council member of NoS, and in no point in time should you ever do the council member's job.
Midnight ||
Midnight is the overlord and sole creator of Nacht Ohne Sterne. If you've any questions, they're best directed at her, and she's typically the one who people send their guild application to, though you can send yours to anyone! If anyone in the guild says something off to you about your guild/etc, you should contact Midnight and she'll handle the problem for you.
Contact Midnight!Night ||
To say the least of it, Night is the most strict and mean of the council members -- also, the co-owner of Nacht Ohne Sterne. Though she has her nice moments, it's best not to ask Night things repeatedly. It's also best to not do something against slightly against the rules that other council members might let slide. Because Night won't let those things slide.
Contact Night!Vinci ||
Though she's in the third council rank, Vinci's power should never be underestimated; Vinci can go from friendly to strict in less than a second, and you should never, at any time, assume that because she's in the fifth council rank, this means her authority is lower than the authority of any other council member.
Contact Vinci!Marisol ||
Marisol is probably the funniest of the council members, with a powerful sense of humor and a good personality to follow. She can be serious as necessary in certain situations, so try not to make those situations come up. Ever.
Contact Marisol!CLOSED ||
The last council position is open and bare, but we are not currently accepting applicants for it at this time. Thank you.
Contact {No one}!
The guild account is located
here. You should send all your cats to this account, with the following information:
{Link}
Name
Clan and Rank
If apprentice, who is their mentor? If warrior, do they have an apprentice?
If all your cats are on the same page, please do not send the link multiple times, and please keep it organized so it doesn't confuse us.
Do not try to get away with anything funny like asking council members the same thing to see if you'll get a different response; we keep each other well-informed. All the time.
LightClan Ranks
Kit ||
Of course, all cats start as a kit! In the Clan, your cats will typically have a name ending in -kit (such as Shadowkit) at this age. They stay in this position until they're about 6 moons old.
Apprentice ||
After being a kit, cats are made into apprentices, in which stage they're learning how to be a warrior. Their name will end with -paw now (Shadowkit is now Shadowpaw!) They'll typically have a mentor (a warrior in the Clan, of course, possibly even the leader if they're lucky), who will teach them about Clan traditions, the territory, hunting, fighting, and anything else that may be necessary. Apprentices usually become close with their mentors, and oftentimes have the same opinions their mentors do, as mentors will have the greatest influence on the growing cats.
Warrior ||
Around 10 - 14 moons of age, your cat will become a warrior. Warriors can have nearly anything as the end of their name, though only certain things are considered traditional (Shadowtail is more traditional than Shadowfire). Usually the new attribute compliments them in some way; a strong warrior may have their name end with -claw, a loyal warrior may have their name end with -heart. Different attributes of your cat can make their name -- you shouldn't name them something
just because it sounds pretty! Warriors have the potential to become deputy, and even leader eventually!
Medicine Cats ||
Medicine cats are the healers of the Clan. At most, there are only ever two -- typically the medicine cat and the medicine cat's apprentice. The medicine cats are very important to a Clan -- they are the ones who heal injuries and sickness, after all! Most times Medicine Cats are still trained for fighting -- just in case.
Deputy ||
The deputy is the second-in-command for a Clan. They're typically in charge of setting up patrols and will take over the Clan when the leader dies. The deputy can be any cat the leader deems worthy, as the deputy
is appointed by the leader. In some cases, this can be a problem is the leader is too blind to see a problem with the deputy, but that usually doesn't happen.
Leader ||
A Clan is
nothing without it's leader, for the leader is the one who organizes and orders; the one who makes final decisions and is given by StarClan the gift of nine lives. Leaders will typically have -star at the end of their name (Shadowtail is now Shadowstar!). Leaders are generally the one your rogue/loner should talk to if they want to join a Clan.

Upcoming Guild Events
Guild Wars --
This will be happening again eventually, most likely in July. More information will follow. Don't miss it!
SUMMER! -- June 21st is the first day of summer --
finally! At this point most of us should be out of school, and on this day we're going to do some summer-related activities at NoS. Because of TNT's rules, you obviously won't get anything, but it'll all just be for fun. Make sure you participate!
More information regarding this
will be released.
Guild Announcements
Typically written by Midnight but can be written by any council member.
March 24th - Midnight
Ahhh, I'm a terrible leader, I know. I've been so bad at updating the webbie and roleplaying and blah lately. On the bright side, the webbie is
finally updated, and we have a new portal too (so make sure you check that out!) Also make sure
you're roleplaying -- all the Clans need people to roleplay! Chatting is okay, remember, just know that we're also a roleplaying guild.
In the meantime, the last council spot is again open since Wya had to be removed. Night is also co-owner, but for the most part the tasks of the "Co-Owner" will be performed by both Night and Vinci. Whoo! The last spot is currently not open because frankly I'm not sure anyone is active enough for it right now, and originally that wasn't my biggest concern but it's quickly becoming my biggest concern.
Wanna make a page?
Great -- here are some suggestions!
If you offer to make a page, we will hold you to it!
You can neomail whoever suggested the idea for more information on the idea.
Members Page ;;
Suggested by Midnight and Vinci, currently being created by no one.
Basically a page that lists all the members of NoS -- who they are, what avatar they have. We should really have this page because WE LIKE TO KNOW WHO OUR MEMBERS ARE. Plus you might learn something!
Mock Cats Page ;;
Suggested by Midnight, currently being created by Midnight.
It's a surprise! OwO This is really just here for Midnight to refer back to in a month when she has free time again and be like, "OH STARCLAN, I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO THAT." xP
Connection Page ;;
Suggested by Midnight, currently being created by no one.
This can either be a FB-like page (which would require a lot of updating!) or it can be a page that lists other roleplaying guilds (or just other guilds in general?) that we have to ask to be our "friends" and what our relationship is with them, etc.
Roleplaying Tips Page ;;
Suggested by Midnight, currently being created by no one.
Sometimes you get stuck. Sometimes you're not sure what to write, and you're only two sentences into the roleplay, and you just feel like quitting. WELL, that's what this page is for -- preventing Roleplay block everywhere!
Avatar Hog Page ;;
Suggested by Midnight, currently being created by no one.
Basically so no one has the same avatar someone else recently had/currently has. This will confuse people. Let's not do this.
LightClan's Family Tree ;;
Suggested by Midnight, currently being created by no one.
Obvious -- it's in the name! If you really want to make a family tree for the large Clan that is LightClan, go crazy.
Wanna submit a page idea? Great! Make sure you include a brief description of what the page is when you send it in!
Council Application
There are no current open council spots, but the application remains here just in case.
Assuming that others have applied for this position, why should I pick you?
Do you think you're mature enough to be responsible of everyone?
If a fight breaks out, what would you do about it?
Would you do your best to avoid fights with a fellow council member?
But what if a fight breaks out between two other council members? What will you do?
As a council member, what can you bring to the guild?
How long have you really been a part of the guild? How long does it feel you've been a member?
Why do you want to be a council member? Do you have any ideas for NoS?
Want something shiny?
Send to Midnight only.

Frequently Asked Questions. If you think any particular question should be added here because you think it may be helpful, you should mention it to Midnight to see if she'll add it!
Why name them LightClan?
LightClan is the Clan of hope -- when PoisonClan, IceClan and HollowClan formed together to make one single Clan, they had almost no light in their world; darker than it is now for our cats, certainly! However, LightClan was not their first pick of a name. But after a while, it began to fit better, and the cats decided to call themselves LightClan in the hope that one day the light would return, and one day StarClan would come back.
The original name for the Clan was
TreeClan due to the fact that the territory is almost completely covered in trees (it was IceClan's idea, yes).
Are there any other names for the Moons of Calamity?
For Clan cats, the Moons of Calamity are called just that.
For rogues, there are a lot of names. So far we have discovered that some rogues call the Moons of Calamity
The Days of Fire, but we haven't learned anything else. If you want your rogue to have a different name for the Moons of Calamity, you should run it by Midnight first.
Did any creatures completely die off?
There are no longer any marine creatures -- yes, it's true and sad! The waters were poisoned for a while before it was washed out (and land creatures died from this too died from this too!), so there are no fish in LightClan territory. That's really the only species that affects LightClan, though there also are no longer dolphins, whales, or anything alike.
What happened to StarClan?
Despite LightClan's belief that their ancestors abandoned them, leaving them in a cold and dark world, that is not at all the case. In fact, StarClan themselves are trapped too -- the clouds serve as a barrier between StarClan and LightClan! However, that's all I can tell you. In this plot, more about StarClan and the "problem" will be revealed than ever before.
I will tell you, though, that sometimes StarClan manages to break through on certain nights -- as the clouds are constantly moving and are sometimes thinner -- and because of this, were able to contact the medicine cat and deliver a prophecy between the first and second plot.

Joining Info
You're interested in joining Nacht ohne Sterne? We're happy to hear that -- we're always welcoming to new members who want to join our family! Fill out this application, and send it to one of the council members (You can get to them by clicking Ranks on the right side of this box, but hopefully you already looked at that). We are a private guild, so you
do have to be accepted, but try not to be too worried! Even if you are declined (which people rarely are), we'll be nice about it!
What should we call you?
In your own opinion, what's your literacy level?
What makes you want to join this guild?
(Reading Check!) What was the original name of LightClan, and why did they change it?
Would you like me to slap you with a fish or a boot?
Writing example?
Applications are best put on petpages.
A note;; we are not always on. Patience is a virtue. Also, please, if you were referred to the guild by one of the council members, do not send your application to them. You may ask them, however, which other council member is on.
Mock App
The mock app is here for your reference if you're staring at the question and you're like, "What does this question even mean?" (although I'm not sure how it could be any more obvious.) You should NOT copy anything off of this!
What should we call you? My name is ________. c:
In your own opinion, what's your literacy level? I'd say my literacy level is about an 85% -- I don't want to sound like an ego-maniac or anything, but it is pretty good aside from a couple of errors now and then! I also tend to use smilies. A lot.
What makes you want to join this guild? Nacht ohne Sterne sticks out to me because _____________________________ (it's awesome/it has a cool plot/I just want a guild. etc. Elaborate!).
(Reading Check!) What was the original name of LightClan, and why did they change it? Haha, sorry -- I'm not going to tell you the answer to this one or even give you a hint. If you're stuck on this one, maybe you should reach section of the webbie very carefully.
Would you like me to slap you with a fish or a boot? A fish. o.o
Writing example? Again, not going to give you something that you can just take and edit. For your writing example you can do anything -- it doesn't HAVE to be a roleplay example, but it should be yours. It can be an essay, a description of the item right next to your computer, or a roleplay example!
Just remember -- don't stress over the application too much, but do try your best!
