Step 1 Open a new paint file by opening up MS Paint and selecting File New

Step 2 Select your pencil tool.

Step 3 Select the zoom tool (the magnifying glass) and select 8x. Then click the area you want to start drawing in.

Step 4 Using the pencil tool, draw the outline of your pixel.

Step 5 Color the outlines of your pixel accordingly. The outlines should be darker than the color you will be filling them with.

Step 6 Using the eye dropper tool, select the color you want to start shading.

Step 7 Select Colors Edit Colors...

Step 8 A box titled "Edit Colors" will pop up. Click the "Define Custom Colors button.

Step 9 Drag the arrow up and down to adjust the lightness and darkness. Up is lighter, down is darker. Once you have found a color that works click "OK".

Step 10 Zoom in again need a lighter/darker colto 8x and begin shading your pixel. Any time youor repeat steps 6-9.
