An intro

Please call me Memphis? My patchouli-scented hippy parents had no sense of style when they named me "Memphisti." I think they though it might be edge-y or hip. I think it's just obnoxious.

If you want to get to know me, it's not hard to do. You can find me in the corner of the local coffee shop. No, you won't see me in those big franchise ones, I don't like the flavor nor the crowd they attract. Yuppie soccer moms aren't really my style.

Coffee really isn't my thing either. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the smell, but I think what I enjoy the most is the quiet solitude a socially awkward guy can enjoy when he hangs out in such a strange place. The only place that might be better for it is a cemetery- quiet neighbors and all, but I'm not nearly Goth enough for that crowd. Those people are just pretentious.

The next best thing

If you're looking for that guy who is a blast to be around, always the life of the party, always has a story to tell, and always has to be the center of attention, go look in some bar or pub. You won't find him here. I'm the next best thing. If you want that guy who is always there to lend an ear and a shoulder, always has a witty comment or snide remark, and always has cynicism a mile wide, you've met your guy.

Day to Day

January 7- The walk from the car to the ground grounds (haha, my new nickname for the coffee shop), was unbearably cold. Driving here, I had to downshift to second just to keep the old beater warm enough to run the whole way. Hopefully the snow stops soon. It is going to be a lonely day.

January 11- So. Cold. I want to stay in bed today. But... I miss my coffee peeps. *sigh* Out I go. Wish me luck?

January 12- Wow. Talk about fate. I'm SO glad I went yesterday. There was a pleasant surprise waiting for me at the table next to my regular spot. I might go into details later. We'll see.
