Welcome . . .
You sigh, realizing that you are lost. You had been warned not to swim out so far from Mystery Island, that the rip current would push you out further into the ocean . . . Shielding your eyes from the hot sun, you scan the horizon. Seeing nothing, you start to ponder what in Neopia you are going to do, when you feel something smooth slip past your feet. Hoping it's not a Jetsam or a Maraquan Skeith, you plunge your head in the water, only to find bubbles being blown in your face. You jump back, jerking your head back, confused and scared. After wiping the water out of your eyes, a little head with fins and flame-like marking pops up out of the water. It looks like a Maraquan Hissi, only a little more graceful looking, as if it could glide through water easily. "I got you!" it shouts, giggling joyfully. Realizing the little Hissi was the culprit behind the bubble attack, you laugh. "So, what you doing so far out? I've never seen any of your kind out this far." it asks. Explaining how you swam out too far and got caught by a rip current, the Hissi nods and says, "I can bring you back, no problem, but it be faster if I take you underwater." Thinking the Hissi doesn't know you can't breath underwater, you quickly try to explain, but the Hissi say, "Silly human. I'm a Merdrac, so have no worries." He dives down quickly and suddenly comes up under you while neatly jumping out the water. Clinging onto his fins for dear life, he slides back into the water, diving down deep. You hold your breath in fear and when you can no longer take it, you breathe in. Surprisingly you can still breathe fine. "I told you, no worries with me." he says, looking back at you. "I will show you my home, before bring you back. Sound fun?" he asks. You nod and he says, "Great! I love fun things. By the way, my name's Mello, but call me Mel." You and Mel continue down into the deep, excited by what you will find.

Mello is a younger member of the Merdracs. He's liable to play around than to even try listen to his elders or learn from their wisdom. It has, unfortunately, got him in trouble and in and out of varoius pods. Although, he usually spends his days wondering around and racing his Pfish, Cheps. During the night he stargazes. He's always up for new friends and is usually easy to get along with. He can be touchy about certain subjects or even fierce sometimes, for he fights strongly for what he believes in. It usually is hard to break him down if he gets like that, unless you pull his strings just right . . .
