Stone and glass were both paint brushes that could be used on pets. These images show the effect of using one.

The Glass on 7th January 2002 after a user poll suggested it was boring and the Stone on the 26th of June for pretty much the same reason.

Many of the older neopets have undergone significant changes in design from the time they were first created, I term this neovolution. ^_~

The Shoyru and the Zafara are both based on the contest results and competitions where users sent in designs for a new neopet species.
Others were just plain odd looking and were changed so that they fitted better with the direction the site was heading.

This is only a small selection of items that have been updated over the years, the real number is huge. I mean this to give an insight into the general trends in the drawing ect. which TNT has followed.

This section is divided into three main areas. Maraquan, Spooky and regular petpets.
Maraquan and Spooky petpets were given updates by TNT because they were either unpopular or dodgy looking, this change however only affected petpets that were unattatched at the time.
So although very rare you can still see versions of these petpets about, Cyansam has a list of them.
The rest of the petpets were updated like Neopets are, by saving over the existing art, so the old versions are offically extinct.

As a note of interest the original Maraqan petpets in the fish bowls were sold from the petpet shop in old Maraqua.
The new versions received their updates some time during their exodus from the ruins of Maraqua to the rock pool in Mystery Island.

Explore maps can change overnight, it's strangely nostalgic to be able to look back on them and see how they've changed.

April Fools

2001 (yr 3) Pet Makeovers - TNT announced that many of the neopets would be recieiving a design 'update'. You can read the news here
	2002 (yr 4) Pant Devil Strikes Back! - A fake RE on April fools day, made it look like the pant devil had stolen all the items in your safety deposit box. Oh No!
2003 (yr 5) Extreme Neopetz - Fake Front page put up on April Fools, see, news. I'm glad I wasn't here for this one, it would have given me a heart attack. EXTREME!
	2004 (yr 6) Quiguki Armageddon - In yr 6 TNT claimed A Quiguki expansion set was about to released based on a new world called Quigara. Both the set and world failed to show.
2005 (yr 7) Possible New Pets April Fools again! This was the joke for year seven. Many people really liked some of these pets and wanted them for real. The Lamameeah became the Gnorbu and several others became petpets.
	2006 (yr 8) Neocharge - I'm sure this scared many people, see the news for the big reveal.
2007 (yr 9) TNT claims the entire battledome is being permanently closed. This includes shops selling weapons, Hidden Tower, Defenders of Neopia, battledome scores and the Battledome chat.

Borovan Day Pranks

Yr 8. The Advent calender mysteriously didn't give out any gifts on this day, leaving neopians with only a tantalising animation of a seasonal attack pea and crushed hopes of an avatar. The next day double prizes were awarded to those who visited, you can see them in my screenies.

This section of the museum is all about remembering the little changes that come and go but collectively change the way in which neo is played.

• Tombola - Way back when, you needed a Tombola Coin to use the Tombola.
  
  When Mystery Island was first released you also needed payment to access it, this was in the form of totems. Three totems bought you one boat trip to the Isle.

  Theme parks were accessible through the Games Cupboard. Neopets could pay neopoints to go on rides there.
  When the Theme Parks were closed down the users with the best parks were awarded a trophy for all their hard work.
  

  When they were first released there was no limit to the number of faerie quests you could do! This is evidenced by the news on the faerie quests page.

  The Main shops contained Live chat rooms where you could talk with other people while waiting for restock.

  You could at one time see a different shop wizard depending what world you click from. (news)

  When Draiks were first released on 25th June 02, a limited number could be created through create a pet, the Draik's nest wasn't released until next September.

  Moehogs used to be limited edition and could be created by signing up with a sponsor, from June 17, 2000.
  On August 29, 2000 the news says that a new colony of Moehogs has been discovered and they are now adoptable by everyone.
  

  Neocircles were like webrings, a whole bunch of shops or petpages could be linked together in a 'circle,' where each page linked on to the next. This feature was cancelled eventually due to bugs in the system and a large mumber of circles linking off site. The new guilds system took over where neocircles left off, allowing people with similar interests an easier way to chat and interact.
  You will still see the odd neocircle around, on petpages or shops. Like this example.

  Discount Cards gave you a percentage discount when buying from the main shops and could be obtained by referring people to neopets, the more referrals the greater the discount. People who earned these cards in the past can still use them but to the best of my knowledge they are now retired. Too bad eh?
  

  The Rainbow Fountain originally required a Fountain Pass to work, which you got by signing up with Neopets sponsors!
  The fountain could change your pets gender, species AND colour.
  

  Lab maps used to be less than 1K each! Whoa inflation eh.

  People! Occasionally human figures have crept onto the site. Characters as varied as the Island Mystic, Edna the Zafara, the Toy Shop shopkeeper and Dr Death as well as the Mynci, Bruce and Kau all used to be human.
