The Smuggler's Cove was opened in Krawk Island on October 18th 2001. Krawk Island lies about 48 km SW of Mystery Island and was named
after the Krawks that lived there. The Population is 4,319 (72% pirate, 11% Krawk, 14% landlubbin' tourists, 3% other). The area of
Krawk Island covers 245 sq. km and the weather is tropical, with occasional high winds and showers and it has beautiful sandy beaches
and fungus-lined caves.

The Cove was formed by a gang of pirates on the run from the law so they could sell their ill-gotten goods to
different citizens of Neopia. It lies at the bottom of a cliff in Krawk Island and many rare items have been smuggled into the
cave since then including:

It is unsure how these Pirates come by their ill-gotten goods but many say they venture into far lands seeking their treasures that they sale and most of the
citizens say they sell what washes up on their shores. It is very fortunate for the citizens of Neopia who are able to purchase these goods from the pirates
because the items are very rare. One time the pirates were sneaky and tried to sell regular Green Apples to the citizens of Neopia. At the time their Captain
was a well known citizen of Neopia called *cough* (name withheld to protect the innocent) who earlier turned pirate and thought it would be a good joke to play
on the citizens. You must remember that most pirates have a sense of humor and he meant no harm even though the citizens were outraged. You never know what the
smugglers have planned or what they will try to sell the citizens so be careful of those crafty Pirates when you go to buy their goods.

All items that the smugglers bring in can only be purchased with dubloons, which is the official currency of Krawk Island. Currently you can only get dubloons
from Coltzan's Shrine (if Coltzan decides to give you a dubloon) or you can buy them at shops, trades or auctions. Also Tarla has given out the 100 dubloon in
one of her give aways. While some items cost as little as a few dubloons, others require up to 600 dubloons. The good news is that the cove will give back
change when you buy an item, so you can carry as much as you want in any denomination but just remember they are pirates and may try to stiff you a little bit.
However, in order for the smugglers to see that you have any dubloons, they must be loose in your inventory. Some people keep dubloons in their trades so
they are safe from the Pant Devil or Grundo Leader, but if they ever see something for sale, they will need to cancel the trade before they click the item.
What I always do is have a lot of junk items in my inventory with the dubloons that way if the Pant Devil or Grundo Leader does show up hopefully they will
steal a junk item instead of one of my dubloons.

Needless to say, the smugglers are very protective of their operations. Since items restock randomly and there is no set time for restocks visiting is the
only way to know when they have something for sale. Also the day the smugglers are selling something there is always something in the New Features about it
so all pirate lovers will have a chance to get something, so be sure to check the New Features under the News section daily.

When you visit the Smugglers Cove too often they will ban you from even seeing if anything is there. There will never be more than 100 of any cove item
released (stated in the New Features October 18th 2001) and once they reach a certain limit for that item they stop restocking. That is why the cove does
not stock often because when the limit of that item has been reached that item will no longer stock in the cove. People ask if you can consider them as retired
Weapons/Items but I do not think so because at this time they are not on the Retired Weapons/Items List.

Just how often is too often? That is a difficult question because it also seems to be somewhat random. Some people report that they visit once every 15
minutes so they aren't banned as much. Others say that even doing that will get you banned quickly. There is no definitive way to prevent being banned
at the cove. Do not refresh when you visit the cove because clicking once on the cove is enough to see if any items are there and if you do not see any leave
and check back later.

How do I know if I am banned? You will know you are banned if you see: "Are you trying to get us into trouble??? Visiting the Smugglers Cove too much is a
bad idea... you don't want to attract attention to their illicit activities do you? They will not let you pass. Please wait a while before you return!

How long do bans last, you ask? Once again, that is somewhat random too. Typically, bans last 30 to 60 minutes. When you are banned from the cove then
it is very important you do not visit the cove for at least 30 minutes. If you visit again before you are un-banned, often times the banning will last
even longer.

When the "A Grey Faerie Doll" was first released to the site she was brought in by the smugglers and was a cove item. She later became a Rarity 98 item
and stocks in the Toy Shop now. People have often wondered how the pirates got their hands on the A Grey Faerie Dolls. I always ask them "Why wonder?
They are pirates and will do daring deeds to get their items they sell."

At this time I am unsure about the Candy Club and Fungus Chucks. There are rumors that the smugglers have brought ashore these two items but I have yet
to see them. It is always fun and interesting to see what the smugglers will bring ashore each time they return from their long trips looking for treasures. So
the next time you visit Krawk Island be sure to walk along the cliffs and look out to sea for you never know, you may see those crafty smugglers bringing in
treasures fit for a king!

Happy Coving!
