![]() Navigation Basics Making Fonts Making Backgrounds Making Links Link Back Affiliates Tables Hi! This is my petpage. My name is MagicalHorse12321. Most people call me Maggy. I like to help other Neopians with HTML so that they can make their petpages pretty like mine :) HTML is a code that people use to make well...everything on the internet! (Although there is also CSS, which I still have to get around to learning...) Anyways, it can be used to make petpages and NeoBoard fonts! First off, all HTML is used with brackets, which look like this: At the end of a code, it is closed by putting a / before the word for some codes...but before I confuse you, lets learn the basics. Basics Here are some very basic codes, but they can do A LOT in formatting a page. |
| These codes are like pressing the Enter bar on the keyboard. If you try pressing enter while coding, nothing will happen. So use the br code. If you want to start a new paragraph, use the p. | |
| This code centers all the text within the 2 center words. |
|
Fonts
This is a font color/size/face code. It is used to make a font different colors. So I can make my font really small or different colors. Even look different. This is what the base of the code looks like. If you want to use it, just copy (Ctrl+C) the code in the little white box, and paste (Ctrl+V) it wherever you need. You can also change the part in quotes, but I'll talk about that later. |
| This type changes the color of the text. (You can change the word in quotes.) |
|
| This changes the size of the text. (You can change the # in quotes.) |
|
| This changes the general appearance of the text. (You can change the word in quotes.) |
|
| Or you can string it all together. |
|
See! It's not that hard! If you don't know and Hexadecimal codes (color)or font face codes, then here are some places with a fine list:
Petpage #1 Petpage #2 Here is a place with a chart of all most font faces possible, http://www.sunnyneo.com/avatars/typefacechart.php Go Offsite at your own risk!! You can also look on Microsoft Word to see what there is. There are also other things you can do to mess with fonts. You can make it Bold, Italic or Underlined. You can even See? This is called Marquee. See? This is called Marquee. See? This is called Marquee. This is what the codes look like. |
| This makes the text bold. Make sure to close it with the /! | |
| This makes the text italic. | |
| This underlines text. | |
| This makes text struck through. | |
| This makes text go back and forth. |
|
Again, you can play around with those codes and combine them. Congratulations! You are on your way to mastering fonts. Now to backgrounds. Backgrounds A background is basically what you see behind all the content of the page (text, pictures, etc.) It can be a solid color, like mine, or a picture. Here are some nice codes to do it. |
| Solid color background. Replace word in quotes. | |
| Simple Image background. Replace the URL in quotes. |
|
That image background code is pretty simple. There are many combos you can add at the end to make it different, such as putting bgproperties="fixed" at the end. Just experiment to see what you want.
Making Links Making links is simple. There is just a code, and then your link! You can also make a link open into another tab/-blocked- Here is what it looks like: |
| This is the basic link! Just replace the URL in quotes with your own! | |
| See that part at the end? That opens the link into another tab/window! Very simple. |
|
Voila! You now have learned how to code links. You can also make pictures a link, just put the link to where you want it to go, then the image source, and close the link, like this: |
| There's the link, the image, and the closing part. Just replace things in quotes. |
|
Tables
A table is basically a grid. It has rows, and columns. Row+Column=Cell. A cell can hold, links, pictures and text. I use tables a lot, they are good when you want to make a page more organized looking. Tables are difficult to get used to so don't get frustrated if you don't get it right away. Here is TNT's picture of a table: ![]() Here is how you make a table. |
| The table part creates the table, the tr part creates a new table row, and the td part creates a new table cell. You can put these all together in many ways to create tables that are quite large. |
|
Like I said, tables are complicated. To see another example, you can go Here. Remember, practice makes perfect.
